Strasburg is done for this season and probally most of next season ESPN is saying he will need Tommy J surgery and will be out for atleast 12-18 months.

and Manny looks to be heading to the WhiteSoxs

Going to Coors Field tonight to hopefully see Jimenez win his 18th game (would be a club best) this season. I don't expect a lot of hits tonight, but that's OK. Baseball isn't just about swinging the bat.

so much for the 'next big thing'. if they aren't careful, we have the next mark prior, and strasburg will be yesterday's news.

or he could be like ra dickey and pitch without that ligament.

Yanks are Finally back to Kicking A$$ and taking names :) 8 in a row 2.5 Games up on Tampa and 10 on the Soxs the amazing thing about this run is they are steping up with out there two best players who have been out for a while A-Rod and Andy.:D

three weeks left in the season and the al races are as good as done. unless there's a major screw up (ala 2007 mets), the yankees, rays, twins and rangers will be making the playoffs. only question now is matchups.

on the other hand, the nl races are getting interesting. 5 teams fighting for three spots. the reds are for the most part in, but we have the braves, phillies, padres, giants and rockies trying to grab playoff spots.

here's the playoff odds if you're interested. i think the rays will win the al east, as their schedule is 7 with the yankees, and 13 games with creampuffs, including their last 10, while the yankees have to contend with teams with slightly better records. for the nl, i'm going to say the braves slide by as east champions, padres win the west and phillies win the wild card, of course this could change by the day.

The Padres are just about finished, the Rockies will make a strong bid for the Division or Wild Card.

Agreed. The Padres are just falling apart. Hopefully the Rockies will continue their winning ways. We have 19 games left, 9 of which we play at home.

6 games against the Dodgers (3 away - 3 home)
3 games against the Giants (home)
3 games against the Padres (home)
3 games against the Diamondbacks (away)
4 games against the Cardinals (away)

We should take at least 5 of the 7 games against the Diamondbacks and Cardinals, and hopefully we'll take 8 or 9 against the Padres, Giants, and Dodgers.

sounds like the mets a few years back, all that work, and no playoffs. i still think they have a small chance, although i think it's bias talking as i like the padres a little bit. anything can happen, as the braves seem to be acting bipolar at times. i will have to think that the giants aren't going to make it and will be out of the race by the last week. but my guess right now is that the nl west will go down to the last day, with no playoffs for the loser.

Hammels fans 13 Fish last night to go up two games on the Bravo's:D

Watch out for H2O baby...;) The best three man rotation in the NL:)

Peace

yankee fans: your boy jeter is a big cheater. i was watching the game last night, and he was trying to sell what should have been out #2 in the 7th into a hit by pitch, and succeeded in his acting. he didn't get hit, and when the ump asked him if he got hit, he said "yes". what about "no"? good thing it didn't cost the rays the game.

and only three races left to watch now, all in the nl. i'm starting to think my braves are going to be spending october at home watching the playoffs on tv. they lost to the natinals at home.:(

You think that's bad, try being a Cardinals fan and watching them get swept by the Cubs at home despite having your 3 aces starting all games :(

I think the Cards decided to quit playing sometime towards the end of August.

Jeter pulled off one of the greatest acting jobs ever. It's not his fault that the inept umps bought it.

Oh please if it was your favorite player would you be complaining about it? No didn't think so don't be a hypocrite.

Have you thought about this logically?

If Jeter was going to intentionally fake getting hit by the pitch, why would he pretend his fingers hurt and not his elbow( where it would have hit him)? The umpire called HBP quickly and Jeter went with it. It will be hard to find one player after the umpire called a HBP who would go up and say, " It didn't hit me"...... And the reason as already stated by Jeter himself his hands hurt was because of the vibration from the bat. After Jeter realized he was awarded 1st base, he went with it which is what most players would do.

And even if the umpire didn't call a HBP, if you look at the video again after the ball hit the bat it does hit Jeter which makes it a dead ball.

Exactly. Well said. Any player would have done the same thing in that situation. You're in a pennant race against your rival and you're gonna do anything to try to get your team a W.

jeter is a douche. thats one of the most unsportsmanlike things i've witnessed in a while. i thought he was better than some of the other douchebag yankees (arod slapping the ball out of arroyos glove, etc) but apparently not.

This response isn't surprising coming from a Red Sox fan.... :p

again I'll ask what would your opinion be if David ortiz or youk would have done the same thing?:D

I doubt Ortiz could even pull it off.:p

Jeter pulled an old fashioned baseball move. If the umps are too stupid to realize that Jeter pulled a fast one good for him. I would be more pissed if Jeter said, wait ump the ball never hit me. The Red Sox fans are just upset that they didn't have a chance to hit him legit like they always do and then complain when the Yankees hit back.

Joe Torre is leaving us!!!!! WTF!??????

It's like 2004 when Shaquille and Phil Jackson left the lakers!!!

Ahhhhhhh!!!!

Were dead anyways...:(

Damm that divorce

The Dodgers were not going to rehire Torre, he will either go to the Mets or the Cubs.

Wow, the NL West is just a complete toss up. The Padres, Giants and Rockies are within 1 game of each other for the lead! It is the most exciting playoff race in MLB.

Andy is back excellent performance today I've repeated this a lot since the first few performances we got Kerry wood He needs to be resigned at any cost he's been the most reliable guy since the break.

I think it is time to let Mo go this year. Two blown saves in the last 7 days. He sucks. Let's get Papelbon.
