The umps were not kind to the Rays, they still have to get clutch hitting but a few calls could have changed the series.

Pavano can suck it, thats what he gets for screwing us years ago.

Bringing out the brooms to Yankee Stadium!

Giants have one. It gives us some hope.

Postseason for the Giants, the San Francisco version of the team, has not been a successful thing. Even Willie Mays (NY and SF Giant) couldn't change that.

Unlike the confident Yankee fans, I won't feel safe in this series until the very last out. When a team is up on the Giants in the postseason, things usually go bad, and when the Giants are up, they always find a way to lose the big one...the one that got away.

What an amazing performance by Tim Lincecum. If not for Halladay's no-no, that would be the start everyone is talking about. 2 hits, 14 strikeouts. Huge, huge, huge.

Giants did catch a couple of breaks to score their one run, though: Posey really looked like he was out stealing second, but the ump only saw the back of the play and missed the tag. Ross' single to left really should have been fielded by Omar Infante. Oh well, you need the breaks to win such evenly-matched games.

Now Matt Cain has to come out just as strong tonight.

Well, my Phightin' Phils were able to survive a bad outing by Oswalt and take advantage of the Red's mistakes (of which there were many). It was an ugly game with a ton of errors and likely some bad calls (didn't see all of the replays on the HBP on Utley, or if he actually caught third base when he scored, or the call at second base).

I'll still take the win though.

GL

Oh man. All the people that trashed Jeter can now shut it. Utley did the same thing. Again, this further backs up the point that no batter will ever go and correct the umpire on a bad HBP call.

If the Giants can hold their 4 point lead, then there will be four teams one away from sweeping their opponent (Texas, NY, Phil, and hopefully SF). I am scared of Philadelphia though and I don't know how SF will get past them. They may be on their way to recapture the trophy.

EDIT: Yikes, 4-4, extra innings!

The Umps I hear were horrible for the Braves game i was away from the tv when it happen but Bobby Cox got ejected

What else is new.:p

Who is Bobby Cox?

I will have to google this one, but it seems like some of you already know who he is, and maybe there is no surprise here. :)

UPDATE: So OK, I know now. And how many of you know he was the Yankees first base coach under the infamous Billy Martin (no stranger to getting evicted off the field himself)? I am sure Cox got some of his early role model lessons from Billy.

I hope that was a joke but I fear it wasn't.

I know the Braves as a great postseason team, but I am not in the Atlanta area to see the news and highlights showing him get kicked off the field. When I think of Atlanta, especially in their long dynasty period, I think of their unparalleled pitching squad and the class they exhibited. I didn't know about this side of Atlanta's team. :)

I did see plenty of bad boss action with Billy Martin in his Oakland A's days. Martin's actions often were the news more than the A's great playing. While he won for us in the Bay Area, he was a little too much for the game and many hated him, even though he helped bring in the wins and championships.

Martin never won a championship with the A's. Well, he won the NL West once. His overuse of his starters destroyed some really promising arms like Mike Norris and Matt Keough. They did play some exciting baseball and there was a festive atmosphere at the Coliseum that will never be replicated again.

Oh, the Giants. They always lose game 2 of a playoff series in depressing fashion. The last time they won one was when Dave Dravecky pitched them past the Cardinals in '87. I really fear this is going to be a carbon copy of the 2003 division series now, especially with the Giants having to face Tim Hudson who they just can't hit.

Let's hope some of the strange happenings in this postseason will rub off and the Giants will get their A game together. They have it in them and they have to have momentum having come back from 6 1/2 games behind the Padres to outright win the West. It was a terribly hard climb so I don't expect to see the Giants folding just yet.

That being said, I have no real idea if Atlanta had to struggle hard, or from how far back, if at all, to get the NL wild card spot. As far as I can remember following baseball, I have always feared Atlanta for some reason, even when they were not as scary as they can be. Even though they didn't rack up a lot of World Series in the '90s, I considered them the other big team to beat besides the Yankees in that decade and overall since being in Atlanta in the mid-60s, they racked up 16 division titles.

Texas today anyone?

It would be a real Cinderella story if they go all the way through, meet the Yankees, and then beat them in the ALCS. The Yankees are peaking and they seem hard to beat for now.

Two hard fought games, but I like the Braves to take this series now in spite of all the injuries

Look for Hudson to come up big and pitch late into the game to give the bullpen some rest

Well if the Game holds game 5 is Lee/Price that will be a huge game 1 advantage to the Yankees as I'm sure the Rays/Rangers wont start those guys on short day rest.

It looks like this could be the Yanks and Phillies again, but that would be boring for those who don't root for either. Let's get Texas and Atlanta, or Texas and San Francisco.

Obviously I like SF from all my past posts, but I have my doubts. We got lucky tonight.

i think it's over for the braves. sorry for being super negative, but that game killed our season i think. i didn't see the homer, assuming we would just lie down and lose. we should have just lost 1-0.:(

I'm rooting for the Giants to beat the phills I think I've always been a fan of the old NY team rivalry's My grandfather actaully has a Baseball autographed from one of the 40s Giant WS all the players suposivly signed it.

I wanna see Yanks vs. Giants in the World Series. Tim Lincecum amazed me the other night and I haven't really watched many of their games, so I was VERY impressed. I think it will probably be Yanks vs. Phillies again, though.
