Pau Gasol, Luke Walton, and another Laker overslept because of the iOS alarm bug. ESPN

Great excuse, whether it be true or not.

The Heat have now won 19 of their last 20, including 11 straight on the road. They are really starting to play some good ball, and they havent even worked Miller into the rotation yet. This coming road trip will be the longest of the season, and should serve as a decent test for them, with stops in Portland and Chicago.

Griffin in the slam dunk contest this year, plus nobody else worth mentioning!

I wish Rose was in it. DeRozan should be in it again, too.

Griffin's one of those players that makes me wish the Dunk Contest had opponents to dunk on. For years I've been thinking of a viable way for this to be done. Maybe participants could get extra points for blocking another guy's dunk? The event would be so much more exciting with facials and rejections. Ah, pipe dreams.

Or imagine if guys like Lebron would man-up and enter, rather than pretend and claim that he's not entering (again) this year because of the wear-and-tear this contest would have on his body??

Rose....Westbrook.......anybody?

I personally think James doesn't enter because he is afraid to lose.

He's just a ***** primadonna. He doesn't want to enter because of wear and tear on his body? what a joke. The dude plays over 80 games a year, plus all of the practices, plus all of the offseason work outs, and he's worried about 3 dunks "taking a toll on his body"? Get the **** out of the league if you're so worried about that. He probably does more dunks showing off to his stupid teammates or stupid girlfriends in practice every day anyways.

He really should enter though. For once in his career he might have a chance to win something.

Why the hell would Lebron enter the contest?

1. Dunk Contests have become something rookies and young players of the league do. It's not really something an 8 year veteran, let alone a two-time MVP, does. Would just seem weird and desperate.
2. Lebron's popularity is pretty low outside of Miami, as it is. He's not going to have support in LA where the event's taking place this here. Plus, the Clippers are one of the teams he rejected this past summer.
3. If he joins and then beats Blake Griffin, he'll be vilified for stealing the show from an up-and-coming superstar from the hometeam.

It would just be another bad decision for the fallen King.

Lakers just raped the caveliers.... 112-55

Shannon Browns closer at the end of the 3rd quarter from half court was amazing!
:D

Lebron wrote on his twitter: "karma, is a bit**" :p

Exactly. It was such a weak excuse. If he was so concerned about wear-and tear on his body due to dunks, then he wouldn't slam the ball so hard during games. He'd just get his 2 points and "preserve his health".

He would have been better off keeping his mouth shut rather than telling people he "may" enter. He says he'll consider entering every year, and he never enters the contest.

Like many others, I think he doesn't enter because he's afraid of losing and tarnishing his image. By not entering, he leaves people wondering whether he was the best dunker. If he entered and lost, he'd provide everyone the answer, and that answer is: "No he's not".

He really should enter though. For once in his career he might have a chance to win something.

I doubt he could win the dunk contest. He has one dunk mode: HARD. Too bad that isn't a type of dunk.

Most of the laker squad got double-doubles.

You mean double figure points, of course. Balanced scoring -- 7 players scored 10 or more (15 being the highest). Double-doubles would have been even more impressive.

Big embarrassment, but what do you expect when a championship-winning team faces a team that lost their superstar for peanuts?

Because he said he would. Now he just looks like a *****, especially with that excuse he gave.

Yeah, that's his problem. Teasing the media that he might enter. He's had a problem with that -- teasing the media, fans and teams that he'll do something something but never follows through.

I was expecting an embarrassment for our team that we would lose against the worst team in the NBA!

The Lakers last month was their worse! Losing many home games by an average of a 30 point deficit. :( very unlikely of a championship team

Miami Heat lose to the Clippers last night and LeBron's listed as 'day-to-day' after spraining ankle in 4th quarter.

Karma sure is a bit**.

It's because he is afraid to lose, honestly that is what I think it going on.

If New Jersey is not going for Anthony and I don't think New York will, they'll probably go for Paul, then where does Anthony end up? Staying in Denver?

No idea, but the Nets did the right thing. They've been looking desperate for Carmelo; offering to give up a ton for him and willing to revise the deal to how ever the Denver Nuggets likes -- all without the guarantee that Carmelo would even sign the extension with the Nets. Imagine if the Nets carried on as they did, bending backwards to obtain Melo, only for him to reject them? It would be a complete embarrassment.

This past summer was bad enough for the Nets with them taunting the Knicks with that banner and trying to sign big free agents and ending up only with Jordan Farmar, Johan Petro, Travis Outlaw and Anthony Morrow. Nice blueprint for success.

I'd love the Knicks to get Chris Paul, of course. But here's a new fantasy: Dwight Howard becomes a free agent next summer (or the following summer, I think) and signs with the Knicks. Imagine that.
