I actually feel guilty in that I ordered two and only need one ipad so one will be going back. Both scheduled for delivery on Friday from different couriers.

First one ordered on the 7th is 16gb and then changed mind on 8th and ordered 32gb - still not decided which to keep but I'll probably sell the spare to someone local (NOT at profit because that was never the intention) 
There's your answer. The lead time for the new ATV was longer than the iPad - always order things like that separately! it will be too late to cancel the ATV now and get the iPad on Friday

I felt a bit stupid ordering the 16GB. I didn't think about the increase in App size until about 10 minutes later. Wish i got 32GB. oh well.

Just had a call from a blocked number - apologising for the disappointment caused by delaying my iPad, and informing me that it would now be delivered on Friday 16th.
I'm in Aberdeen, Scotland, and had been bumped to 20/3.

My account is showing my order as processing. My Amex hasn't been charged.
Wondering if this has something to do with the fact that I mentioned it to someone I know who works for apple ?

nah not really, I try and keep music and video on my phone, I do have a fairly large iCloud account but still.. Apps are going to be triple or more in file size. Some of them already over 1GB.
Possibly! Ha. Or perhaps have got luck and a cancelled allocation has come your way or something, congrats either way.

I too am awaiting my "4G" iPad to make a move.
UPS/TNT can easily move the stock across the country (with the exception of maybe scotland and ireland) overnight on Thursday.
So I expect we won't see any movement until Thursday night, although like everyone here I hope maybe they will move tonight and get delivered tomorrow! but it won't happen
I expect reviews to start appearing tonight - only one day before it is released - so at least we will have something to read while we are waiting!

Could you please explain the steps to get hold of this? Is this the 0845 sales number or the 0800 order number that needs to be called?

Isn't the 1ZW numbers what you see when you get the drop down box on the apple store where it says track shipments?
Same help would be good. Tried last night but can't seam to get the options right to get a tracking number
1. Called 0845 600 1683
2. Asked to find out the tracking number
3. Said that I ordered from Apple.com
4. Gave my Web order number. Gave billing postcode for verification.
5. Got details of dispatch and the tracking number. The tracking number is played twice so be ready to jot it down. If too slow, you can ask to repeat it.
