(sidenote: The Apple Store is on Regent Street...Oxford Street runs near it 😛)

The Regent Street store handles launched very badly as the queue blocks other shops and causes chaos. Given the amount of room at Covent Garden you'd be crazy not to go there instead 😉 It's only about 5 mins walk away.

Only if you are an Olympic athlete! 🙂 It's almost a mile as the crow flies and over a mile as the person walks. If you also account for navigating the convoluted shortest route and crossing a lot of traffic filled roads, then I reckon it could take up to half an hour to walk from one store to the other.

Sorry to be pernickety, but someone might take you literally and every minute could count on a release day!

It's where I got my iPhone 4S and if I was queuing again for the new iPad it's where I'd head. It's a big store, covered, and not one that attracts the media hungry attention seekers.

I just spoke with Apple and they advised me that if your courier is listed as Syncreon, it will almost certainly be delivered by UK Mail. The tracking number should start working on the 15/16th but you need to use the reference option, not the consignment option, on the tracking system.

God I do hope not. UKMail have delivered two parcels to the wrong damn house for me in the last four months and had to be told to go and fetch them back ! Luckily they were low value items and still where they were left (in people's electric cupboards as far as I know).

I'd prefer UPS. I know the guy and he's in tune with us Apple addicts on launch days !

WooHoo! Just had a phone call from Apple to tell me they've revised my order (bumped from the 16 to the 21st) and I will now be getting my iPad on the 16th as promised.

Told that I'll be able to track it from tomorrow evening onwards. I'll remain cautiously optimistic until my status (currently still "Processing items") changes but I'll take what I can get!

Yup have read that already, dont plan on getting any of those apps - and would expect they are the exception rather than the rule. I'm using 4gb now even if they all double in size then thats still only 8gb. Should be fine...... hopefully 😛

Last year I got my iPhone 4s delivered by UK Mail, on the apple store I could see Syncreon as courier .

It will be UKMail, my smart cover is by them and it tracks on UKMail site. My iPhone also came by them last time. syncreon do not actually deiliver anything to customers as far as I see, they just store and deliver the big pallet loads to UKMail I would assume.

It will track on Syncreons site , but will also track on UKMail and it will be UKMail who knock on your door.

HOWEVER it will not work untill tomorrow or the 16th, it will simple be unavailabe till then.

Neither of the numbers I have in the order status work on the UKMail site, but whatever. I'm not expecting any news on the tracking front until late tomorrow at the earlier. According to Syncreon it's sat in Hinckley (or however you spell it) with all the others. Probably waiting patiently like good little ipads until they are unleashed on us, when they will run towards us wagging their tails and eager to please ...

I called apple support earlier and spoke to a human, fab guy really helpful

Got my ukmail consignment number over the phone and even emailed to me as well.

Said would not show obviously till this evening or tomorrow as its not meant to be delivered until product launch

Better still, I spoke to a shipping/logistics manager. I have an 8 digit consignment number from Apple and it, as of yet, was not provided via the web.

I have been informed that the shipment enter the UK tomorrow afternoon or evening and will be scanned by carriers then.

You might not know this, but enter you 10 digit number onto the TNT website, the website drops the last two digits as it doesn't recognise it as the consignment number.
