The New iPad Pre-Order Status Thread (USA) - All Models

Ordered my Black 64GB 4G around 3 pm PST on March 7th, received the shipped notification email yesterday morning around 10 am PST. It's being held in Ontario, CA. I just so happen to live less than 5 miles from the Ontario FedEx facility, so frustrating knowing it's sitting so close yet I still have to wait for Friday.
For those who are fretting over the whole "processing to preparing for shipment to shipped" change don't worry. If you ordered on March 7th (or even into the 8th) and you were given a March 16th delivery date your iPad will be in your hot little hands on the 16th. Even if your shipping says "standard overnight" or "overnight" that just means the iPad was shipped to the sorting facility overnight, they're still going to hold onto it with all of the other ones until launch day. RARELY do these things get into consumer's hands before the launch date and if they do it's likely someone is getting fired for it! Unless you're not there to pick up or barring some horrible accident with the truck your iPad is on you will get your iPad on launch date.
For those who have a later delivery date all I can say is keep your fingers crossed, you may just get lucky and get your early!

Thanks as well ... it would be nice if Apple would simply list those as "Preparing for Shipment" as that sounds like exactly what is going on instead of leaving us in "Processing." Also, it would make the people that went to the trouble, and had the patience, to fight through all the issues with the store over the first few "on sale" hours on March 7th not feel like they have been passed over.
Of course, that sounds like whining (smile).
Again, btw, 64gb ATT black, ordered March 7 about 3:30 cst. Still Processing.

Ordered the 64GB Verizon model (Black) Mar 9th, Friday 9am EST along with the smart cover and Apple Care. Smart cover was shipped Friday evening and the iPad was shipping Saturday (email received 8:30pm). Delivery date of March 16th.

I ordered mine (32 GB black Verizon) on 3/8. Late Friday night, it changed from "Processing" to "Preparing for Shipment" and hasn't changed since.
I'm anticipating it will change status tomorrow at some point, but I'm not worried. I ordered early enough. It'll get here on Friday.

I've read several other folks post this as well. Only thing keeping me from calling Apple.
I've already called my bank and everything is copacetic from their perspective. Apple has the authorization and will likely post the charge once the order ships.
I think they're beginning to move to "shipping" (I wouldn't worry, I'm pretty confident we'll get ours eventually).
This morning I got an email at about 5AM that my iPad had shipped - I'm in Orange County, ordered 32GB black wifi at 1:30pm launch day. My friend also ordered one launch day but changed it via phone next day to 64 gb black, LTE. He is also in Southern California.
Mine is sitting in Ontario so I'm not too worried
Yep.... I've seen about 12 of us here in Portland and our pads are all in Ontario.
I imagine FedEx will start to move those to Swan Island tomorrow.
Normally, a package from FedEx needs to be in the Swan Island facility, 2 days before delivery date. They'll be in the NW soon
That makes me feel a lot better...I ordered mine within an hour after the keynote (32 GB black/at&t/wifi-4g) and mine still says "processing" as well
I ordered (White/4G/64g/unengraved/AT&T) about 4pm CST (I am in FL) on the 7th and rec'd a confirmation email of the order at about 4:30pm that same day... my unit instantly went to "Processing Items" and has been there ever since... so seeing all these later orders getting "Shipped" I called and they told me that many of the units were state-side stock and therefore would not show a status of shipping until early this coming week since they didn't have to come from China. So... we wait and see....

I got the 64GB White Verizon 4g and still sitting at preparing since late Friday night. Hoping mine switches over soon.
PS: I'm from the Philly area.
Ordered on the 7th. They took the money out of my account immediately. Now as I look back at my bank account I see a mysterious $800. It seems they posted it but never finalized it? And now all I can see a charge for is the smart cover. My 32GB Verizon is "shipped" but the tracking number isn't active.
Normally I'm all for an extra $800, but this is a little disconcerting. Can someone please shed some light on this situation?

Probably wouldn't hurt to call and and just check that everything is okay. I preordered the iPhone 3GS and my order was canceled without reason being given by ATT or Apple. I'm not saying that's what happened to you, but...never hurts to call. Perhaps they authorized the charge, but it was released and the charge will appear on Monday?
That's perfectly normal. The initial credit card authorization will put a temporary hold on the funds and you will see that if you are looking at your account online. That will get released back to you if they don't finalize the payment in a day or two. Once they ship they will "settle" the authorization and you will be charged. Nothing to worry about.
Thanks! I just called and the guy said everything is all set. He said it should settle up Monday, and if it doesn't then I'll get a "free iPad."

I had only checked my debit card for the pre authorization before. I just checked my credit card and the authorization is there. Between that and having the Apple CS woman resend the order confirmation email, I am finally basically confident that it will come on Friday. Now if only the next 5 days fly by! It's gonna be a looooong week!
I ordered a black 64gig wifi within the first hour after the announcement speech. I live in the Boston area. Mine said preparing to ship for the last two days and today at 11:30am I got shipping confirmation email.
Fedex- tracking says its been picked up and its in middletown, pa.

Somewhere between Nashville and Atlanta there is a 64g wifi black looking for a new home.
Now I see why that solar flare last week that the news media was trying to get everyone worked into a frenzy over never got any traction.... Apple's iPad release sucked all the oxygen out of the room as evidenced by this thread which has gotten so big, it has developed it's own gravitational field.
