I believe that the mini will have a glass top and bottom, because it will support wireless charging.

It makes sense.

Instead of plugging a power cable into the mac mini, you can just place the computer on the charging mat.

And, of course, that battery will be hard sealed. No user replacement.

We're surely past the point where invites for an October 16th event would be sent out. And with Tim Cook in Brussels for a keynote speech on Wednesday October 24th the odds of Tuesday 30th being the logical date for the refresh must be shortening.

This is, of course, assuming Apple don't pull a silent update on the 16th or 23rd. There's an awful lot of stuff to discuss including iPad Pros as well as the Mac hardware.

Given that the MacBook Pros were silently updated in July it would appear that going 6 core with a new generation keyboard isn't enough for a full event. If the iMac or Mac Mini don't outwardly change barring USB-C ports and a third generation keyboard isn't worth discussing on a MacBook then is an iPad Pro with FaceID sufficient for an event?

If a completely redesigned iPad Pro w/ FaceID isn’t worth an event (leave alone significant and direly needed changes to a big chunk of their Mac devices), then what else is? Somehow I can’t imagine Apple releasing all those expected updates only via silent update/press notification.

but Apple isn't Scotty,

Kirk to Scotty after he ignored the engines for 4 years

Kirk: "When can we expect an upgrade to the engines?"
Scott: "The engines remain an important part of our plans for the Enterprise. It isn't time to discuss any details yet, but we do have exciting plans going forward"
[doublepost=1539125600][/doublepost]Scotty also didn't hide his latest solution, waiting for the buzz from his last one to die down before before announcing it.

I could see it if prices are increasing though.

Imagine iMac prices going up because minimum spec is increasing, the RAM door is gone on the 27" model, and they are adding the T2 CPU (and the spec increase hides that).

Same thing for Mac Mini (going more 'pro' immediately suggests price increase anyway).

And we've seen FaceID before so Phil Schiller doesn't need to demonstrate it on stage because we know how well that went for Craig Federighi...

And you try and explain how losing the ports on the MBA is a good idea when the replacement could be a cost reduced non touch bar MacBook Pro that only has USB-C ports.

And I'm still hoping for a 15" non touch bar MacBook just to see how the range fills out. ;)

if you really want to paint the right Star Trek analogy fitting for Apple ...

The "Trouble with Tribbles" comes to mind... sort of fluffy and troublesome ... and everywhere ...

And to be sure Roddenberry had amazed us in so many ways - I actually tolerated that episode but that was an episode God damn it ... this thing Apple has going on is a snooze fest.

It's been too long for that garbage.
If Apple wants to make a Mini, they are going to have to sell the Mini as a viable platform.
They've made a lot of people unhappy with the 2014, and 4 year hiatus.
Letting a new model slip out the back pocket like a fresh cow pie will guarantee a brutal reception.

My friends. Can’t we just admit that it was all just another pathetic rumor. Mac Mini 2014 was the very last model, and those that have a 2012 have the last great mac mini model.

Sorry but it is the truth. The Mac Mini will never be in production again.

I hope Tim Cook was right. He should know. Especially since this quote is only a year old. The pipeline out a year is probably pretty close to written in stone (new Airpod case and Airpower being a rare exception). I'm excited to get either an iMac or a Mac Mini this fall. So I'm waiting with everyone here.

"But the real question is, would you get a Mac instead of a Mac Mini?"

Of course I would.

I have a 2012 i7 MIni, which I will replace with a late 2018/2019 Mini if there is one.
If there isn't, I'll buy an iMac in 2nd quarter 2019.

My plan is to get one of the last Macs that will still run 32 bit software before OS 10.15 is released later next near. I have a lot of older 32 bit software that I don't wish to abandon.

I'll keep running a 32 bit version of the Mac OS until it won't run no mo'....

I don't think there's going to be a Mini as we know it. I'd like to see a Mac, latest Intel CPUs, no HT, 6 core machine, 8 if we're really lucky. HT and more cores reserved for the Mac Pro next year. Same base, somehow connected (cable or otherwise). Shouldn't be too long now, almost mid-October.

Here is a rumor: The mac mini is coming in October! There, now it IS coming :)
I heard that to. From my next door neighbors, sister’s brother in laws best friends dog.
So it must be true!

To be honest I still expect it to be Aluminum, not concrete.

It is now clear, why there is no new mac mini.

The product was already mass produced, placed in boxes, all those boxes in shipping containers ready to flood the market, then Apple realised, that the chinese soldered their mini spy chips into all those new mac minis. Therefore, rollout is canceled and Apple needs to start from scratch.

Ha. Must be what’s keeping the pro from making an appearance.

If only it was the 2012 mini. Then the spy camera wasn’t soldered and was easy to upgrade!
