Please, apple hardware is ALWAYS overpriced.

To call the current MBP's outdated is rubbish.

I have practiced what I preach: I dropped $3,350 on a 17" MBP 2.6, 200 7200rpm 4 weeks ago for a project. This is my third MBP for my company.

If you need a machine buy it.

Buying my most recent has already made us many thousands in sales (this MBP is a sales demo unit.)

That's fantastic you made many thousands in sales already or whatever. However, if you would so kindly bring your feet back to the ground, most of us are not you. Buying a MBP now won't earn us "many thousands"...so whatever that means. We don't work for your company.

And no duh if you need a machine now you should buy one. That's not what's be discussed here. We're talking about the outdated hardware that is in the MBP's. And it is outdated, by retail standards. Look at similar notebooks, they all already have the changes. It's called being competitive.

All the writers at my newspaper are using Power Mac G3s using OS 8.2 (they have a hard time even using Google). I'm not kidding. If someone wants to donate 20 or 30 crappy present generation MacBook Pros, please send them my way!!! :)

Okay guys.... I have no idea if the new MBP will come out today but its getting later within the morning and I dont see the site going offline. I kinda think this is a bad sign. I have honestly given up on a MBP update today, tomorrow, next Tuesday, March, "every Tuesday in March, or even April!! I am soooo sick and tired of waiting. I need a new machine but I rather wait and get more bang for my buck. I wish they would release something about the update with a predicted date!! Why keep your customers who FUNDS your company in agony?? Why? These are just a few of my feelings, probably so ill tempered because its late and I am just impatient!!!! *Keeping Fingers Crossed*

What is wrong with some of you people!

Why do you always have to rant on about everything else but the topic? There are thousands of other threads which are probably relevant to your 'offtopic' discussions but if you haven't realize this thread is aimed at discussion on the possibility of the MBP being released and all observations and information about it? Not about the actual MBP and what you want to see and what machine your running and all the other junk you go on with. Thanks to people like you it takes 5x longer to scan through threads and read over pages of 'offtopic' rubbish. Now get your act together and respect other people in the forum.

If you have nothing to add that is relevant to the topic then don't say anything at all.

Regards

I have a gut feeling there will be no update for Tuesday, 5th February as the Apple Store hasn't even gone down.

I have a gut feeling the MBP will never be updated :(

I alsoooo have the SAME gut feeling as you!! I really dont think there will ever be an update. They will just keep sending out the same system and they will let all on this thread assume there will be an update!!!!!

Why wouldn't Apple release the MBP without the update?

The update can easily be downloaded once it is released? Its no biggy..I think Apple would release the MBP without the OS update.

Guys, its only 12:30am west coast time. The store doesn't go down for updates until at least 5am west coast time. Wait until after 9am west coast time to call it a no go. As of this post we've got 5-7 more hours until we know for sure.

So is that when they usually update the site? I gues CST that would be mid-early morning? I guess I could go to bed and then check back in the morning. I just thought it would be early within the morning. Thanks for the thought!!!

Like I said in a few other threads, the new MBP will probably be released when the new Nvidia Geforce 9600 chips come out this month. Nvidia has only specified "February" for a release. Now whether or not they got them to Apple early is another important question. If they just announce production then it could be several weeks after that. I haven't closely followed the logistics of new graphics chipsets being released in the past, so I have no reference. If someone who knows could say, that would be great! It just seems like too much of a coincidence that the brand-spanking new graphics are being released this month...a newer version of what is in the current MBP. Penryn + Multitouch + Geforce 9 = ONE YUMMY NEW MBP!

they didn't on the Mac Pro

hmm at what time of the day do they normally update products?

Other than MWSF, WWDC or other major events where the Apple Store closes down right around the time the event starts, it's always seemed to me that the U.S. Apple Store closes down 12 am PST the day of the update, like for Tuesday releases. Or the times I've checked, it's always been this way.

Are Apple updates generally seen first in elevators?
What am I doing here then refreshing the Apple Store? I should be out raiding elevators!

That would be rad. I hope you're right! I definitely want a new GPU with this update. I didn't know Nvidia had a new one coming out this month. According to Wikipedia it's February 21st. It has a 256-bit memory interface.

Today is my deadline day. New MBP get announced, or I buy a refurb or something from ebay.

I'm not waiting any longer. It's up to Apple. It'll cost them £500 if they dont' announce a new product today.

Doug

Aha! Yes, good ol' Wikipedia. Guess I should have looked that up. Thanks!
Guess it's not that old after all. For some reason I thought it was older. A newer 2008 GPU would still be nice though. I suppose we probably won't see the next one from Nvidia till May 2008 at the earliest then.
