1. How early are you going to be? 4ish?
2. What do you mean by party? Isn't it just standing in a long line for a few hours waiting to buy a disc?

I'm thinking I'll get to one of my local stores around 5; I'm honestly not expecting that many people to be there. I'm just going for the experience, I should already have Leopard in my hands and installed on my Macbook by the time the stores open.

I've never been to one of the release parties, but the way I understand it, the stores make it to be a fairly big deal, and the Apple site calls it a world premiere party, hence my use of the word.

I order mine from Amazon.co.uk. Initially the order status was:
Dispatch estimate for these items: 25 Oct 2007
Delivery estimate: 26 Oct 2007 - 27 Oct 2007

Yesterday it updated to:
Dispatch estimate for these items: 24 Oct 2007
Delivery estimate: 26 Oct 2007

I'd be amazed if I get it on the 26th while people who ordered from Apple get it on or after the 29th.

This is what it says on the UK Order page BTW.... So looks like UK pre orders will be sent this week too...

Woooooppp....

Apparently standing in line on a Friday night qualifies as a "party" to some. Yes, it's just standing in line...but not for a few hours unless you camp out and then I really don't know what to say. The lines move very fast once the doors open. Even if you get there @ 6 you'd probably be out by 6:30. Or just stop in at 7:30 w/ no wait at all. The stores do get jam packed though...almost violating fire code packed. Not a fun time in my book. If I remember correctly, the last few update "parties" Apple has had hourly raffles and offered 10% off most CPU purchases until closing but didn't announce it until the day before the release.

no change

My status remains as it was: Delivers on October 26, 2007; however I just noticed that the shipping method reads: Priority Overnight. I went with their free shipping as I thought there was enough time. If this is not a mistake it makes me very happy. :apple: :D

My order was bumped to Priority Overnight and its now Ready for Shipment, although being one of the Canadians who pre-ordered a Touch and received it a week after they were available in stores I am not going to keep my hopes up for delivery on Oct 26th.

I preordered because I don't feel like rushing out Friday night so I'm guessing it'll be delivered in the late afternoon. Another reason to leave work early on Friday!

I pre-ordered because I don't feel like driving in rush hour traffic on Friday to get my copy (I live in Houston where the only Apple stores are in big shopping malls). Also, I am hoping mine ships early and I get it sooner than Friday! :)

Hopefully (or at least I'm hoping) that when Apple notes shipping as "priority overnite" they really mean it. FedEx Priority Overnight service guarantees delivery by 10:30 AM in most metro cities (later if you live in the boonies). You can call FedEx and ask what the "priority overnight" delivery guarantee is in your area. Once Apple notes the tracking #s on Wed or Thurs FedEx's site will note which service is really being used.

For those that reported their order status had changed to "Prepared for Shipment", when did you order Leopard? I'm just curious because I ordered Leopard about a day ago, and I'm hoping I get some better news other than "Standard-Residential" under my order sooner or later.

I really really hope so.:(

I'm planning on ordering a MBP with leopard preinstalled. I want to order now but I'm afraid it'll arrive with Tiger. When do you think is the earliest to safely oder?
