USA 0 CZE 1. The Czechs are controlling this one fairly easily so far.

i disagree--not only is the US controlling the ball more, they look dangerous, too, creating chances and getting settled into the game. certainly the czechs looks very dangerous on the counter-attack, but this is a very even match so far.

oof--but that brilliant shot certainly won't help!

Gee we get good coverage of this. Every game, ad free, not sure about HD but on my 34cm TV it doesn't really matter.

Gotta love SBS. They did the Ashes brilliantly too last year.

Czechs have scored again, 2-0 now vs USA.

USA.....

5th best team in the world*

Which world is that exactly? They look dreadful, what the hell was the defending about on the goals? just didnt bother closing Rosicky down, he would never score that in the premiership because and defender would have been stright on him...

[/chearleaders]USA ALL THE WAY
GOOOOOOOOOOOOO STATESIDE
YAAAAYYYYYY [/chearleaders]

I think Czechs don't look that great to be honest but when given that much time on the ball then they will punish you. I like the look of the right back though, grugerra (sp?)

* (FIFA RANKINGS)

unlucky, indeed. we've still got a chance in this game, though. i guess not all teams can be so fortunate as to draw a first game they can afford to sleepwalk through.

goooo eeeenglaaaand!
uuuuuuunderachieeeeeve!

Is that aimed at me?

Well, you've got a great chance to win it, what with you being the 5th best team in the world and all.

And yeah, you were 'unlucky'

Yep, I can't understand the #5 ranking, either. I guess FIFA uses the same computer ranking system as the much maligned BCS for American College Football. :p

The US side has made progress, but this World Cup is going to make it look like a step back. Their group is just too tough.

Personally i don't think they will pick up a point.

i guess it was mostly "aimed" at england...to point out that a slow start isn't necessarily indicative of poor quality in a team.

meanwhile, you seem to resent the US for a ranking fifa gave them. that's...weird. everyone knows the ranking is a joke, likewise no one thinks the czech republic is #2. if the ranking mattered for anything i could understand your...disgust(?) with the situation, but of course even fifa knows it's not reflective of reality, and the seeding system clearly didn't benefit the czechs or the US or italy. so basically it only even matters when people talk about it.

Im supporting spain so any england (or spain) jibes don't really effect me.

The diggs were really at fifa.. Argentina 9th, got to love that.

The poor team comments where at the USA, because they are tactically poor and talent deprived. Thats not a slight against you, just the usa football team, people get mixed up sometimes. To be honest, i didnt say they were poor because of the slow start, i said it because of the way they play (not just in this game)

well at the moment it looks like the chez are showing all their routine especially in the defense

and on the offense they are still dangerous even without Koller

people DO tend to mix up slights--i wasn't trying to "effect" you by criticizing england's start, either. but i'm glad you escaped the slight unscathed--spain is my second home so i'm cheering with you against all of history for a great showing as well.

i think in general the US team is unfairly dismissed (i might be wrong, but i imagine you don't dedicate much of your football watching time to a team you deem talent deprived, and didn't in coming to your assessment), so i definitely defend them whenever i can. most days they make it much easier than they're doing right now...the second half wake-up i was hoping for is definitely not coming. oh, well.

but i would say they'll surprise you by leaving the tournament with more than one point.

I actually don't think the czechs have been that good either, capitalised on two bad pieces of defending. I dont think they are to much to worry about for the bigger teams (brazil etc)

Johnsson looks lively

yeah johnson looks good

too bad Rosicky seems to be in a good mood

if the USA doesn't wake up soon it won't be the last goal the Chezs put in the net... it looks like the USA simply can't get used to the chezs fast switching to the offensive

Make that three bad pieces of defending now. :(

I agree with you about the likelihood of the US not making a point. Ghana is also very tough. I'll have to Tivo the Italy/Ghana match and watch it later.

What is this group of death the commentators are on about. The USA were completely outplayed out muscled outskilled and outscored. The media are off their trolley misleading the US public - Czech, Italy, ghana then USA, maybe US third, but come on, compared to the recognised group of death with Argentina Holland and Ivory Coast all capable of greta things, this is a normal group isnt it?

This isn't a group of death.. its two good teams - Italy and Czech with two second rate teams... usa and Ghana.

I really hope no american took seriously their fifa ranking. usa were soundly beaten ; anyone with a oodle of knowlege will know fifa rankings aren't worth the paper they are written on. Maybe they'll pick points up from Ghana, if they are lucky.

A Good all round victory for the better team.

The usa team will be enjoying the 4th July in the states.

I like to watch the casters try there best to make it look like Italy won't have a chance and the US will have a better chance at them:confused: ....yea right....strong team like Italy..whatever can get them through the night i guess

Bless
