The whole match seemed to weigh in with the sense that a Germany score was imminent. I was hoping that Poland could hang on for 1 point. That would have been well deserved, too. Shame they couldn't do it with ten.takao said:well deserved victory but for the love of god.. score the goal earlier next time
germany winning 1-0 with a goal in overtime is just too much cliche
Blue Velvet said:OK. Let's hear predictions for the final score of tomorrow's England game vs. Trinidad & Tobago. I'll hold off giving mine 'cos it's extremely unlikely that I'll be seeing the game. Closest guess gets bragging rights for about 30 seconds or so...

The result will mean half the nation will then be even more convinced that we'll win the World Cup with ease, while the other half will criticise Sven for his lack of passion/tacical inadequancies/bringing on Owen Hargreaves in the second half.*

I'm sure the England team won't be losing any sleep tonight over Beenhakker's comments. Of course, if we really were a 'dead ball' team surely we wouldn't miss every penalty we take?xsedrinam said:Do you think Beenhakker's jibe on "dead ball England" will be worth an extra goal or two against T&T, tomorrow?![]()

I saw that, too. They might have fared better had they considered lodging at the Saudi's Team hotel location.Jaffa Cake said:Actually, it looks like I was wrong it appears the England team are losing sleep tonight, although not over Beenhakker's comments.
Germans, eh?![]()

Trinidad & Tobago assistant manager Wim Rijsbergen has launched an attack on David Beckham ahead of the World Cup clash with England.
The Real Madrid midfielder has had to endure criticism from a wide range of sources despite his immense value to Sven Goran Eriksson's side.
It was the England captain's free kick that led to Carlos Gamarra scoring the own goal that settled the Group B opener and there is no doubt that, based on the evidence of the first round of matches, Beckham has one of the best dead-ball deliveries in the game.
However, Rijsbergen is not impressed with the former Manchester United star.
"Beckham is better at selling shirts than winning football games," he claimed.
"He has a great success at Real Madrid doing that but he hasn't won any important competition since he arrived in Spain.
"Beckham is only a commercial player.
"You can see him playing at Real Madrid. He doesn't have any kind of commitment with the team.
"He doesn't give anything different to his team but, in the commercial fact, he is brilliant and that is great for the club.
"But that isn't enough on a football pitch."
Beckham gets a chance to make Rijsbergen pay for his comments in Thursday's clash in Nuremberg.

dogbone said:It's true that Real Madrid bought Beckham to sell shirts, especially in Japan and it might also be true that he's better at selling shirts than winning games. However seeing as he is one of the best shirt sellers on the planet it's not really an insult to say that he is marginally better at selling shirts than winning games. In fact that would indicate that he's not bad at winning games, especially off his dead balls.
"Beckham, half man, half haircut"

He was so universally admired when he first burst onto the scene, that the consensus eventually swung the other way till he was universally regarded as overrated. Now that it is almost universal agreed that he is overrated, he is now underrated as a result.
It makes sense to me anyway.
