Soon, the only thing playing at the Ricoh could be Bon jovi, because today is (probably) our administration day. :( ;) :D

This is the Premier League thread not some mickey mouse league thread :D I don't know, you boys in the lower leagues trying to big it up with the big boys...

On a serious note, will be a massive shame if Coventry do go into administration

Coventry City set to make takeover announcement.

Honestly, I think we'd be better off going in to administration and starting a fresh, take the short term hit for long term potential.

I just don't see the sense in buying a club £38 million in the red that doesn't have any other assets other than the players. We don't even own our own stadium. :(

Surely Coventry would continue to play, albeit with a 10 point deduction as per other clubs who have entered administration? Or are the circumstances different?

I think it depends on whether we settle up with the Football League and players, otherwise we could be kicked out altogether.

But if we went into administration, not only would we be docked 10 points putting us in a relegation spot, we'd also have to sell what players of value (A.K.A The Talent) we have, and we can't buy or loan because of the current transfer embargo placed on us. In all likelihood we'd end up being relegated anyway... we can't even turnover a 9 man S****horpe.

How many other clubs are in a similar position? Frightening.

It is. Though Coventry's is entirely of their own making, so I have little sympathy for them/us to be honest. It all started going wrong with an unscrupulous board back in the late '90's, then selling Highfield Road to property developers, only to lease it straight back... then paying big money for supposedly big name managers that weren't very good etc...

Though the biggest reason I'd love to see us go in to administration is because the board (and shareholders, they're almost as culpable) would lose much of their money... and deservedly so.

My biggest fear is, the takeover will happen, the debts will be paid, but they'll be no new investment, or at least not in any significant amount. When we can't even turnover a 9 man S****horpe, things need to be changed.

Dear oh dear... and beating the Sc*nts is such good fun too. :p

I always get annoyed at this sort of thing because ultimately it's the supporters who suffer. Chairmen, board members and whatnot move on, but it's the fans whose team are left in a complete state you have to feel for.* It's not that long ago that we were within a few hours of a winding up order, so I can certainly sympathise.

* This does not apply to Leeds United.

Looks like Jaffa Cake has been at it again, pulling random wires off things trying to ruffle up the opponent. ;)
I knew my trip to the Midlands with my giant magnet would pay off. :D

Even better, according to that report it appears that Cardiff aren't even going to turn up in Hull tomorrow, seeing as they're heading to somewhere that doesn't even exist...

The Championship team is now travelling to Humberside by coach.

With no opposition on the park, you've got to fancy us to pick up a win. I confidently predict a narrow 2-1 victory. :)

:D I didn't even notice... It's the BBC though, and they are generally quite crap.

Yeah, it'll still be a nervy last 10 but I'll put my money on the Tigers as well.

Carlisle have a weekend off, thanks to the FA cup which we weren't all that bothered about competing in. Back in action on Tuesday night against newly managerless Swindon Town.

The Third Round draw takes place this Sunday afternoon, the round of course in which the Premier League and Championship clubs enter the competition.

For those tuning in to catch the draw live wanting to see how the country's top sides fare, the Tigers have been allocated number 19. :)

All we know about Colin Murphy is what was posted on the official Hull City Website on Thursday:

The club would like to pass on their best wishes to Colin Murphy, who was taken ill last week.

Colin, who is the Tigers' Director of Development and a popular figure at the KC Stadium, is currently recuperating and will be absent from his role with the club for the foreseeable future.

The club's thoughts are also with Colin's family at this time and we would ask that their privacy is respected.

Now a further update from the Hull Daily Mail

COLIN Murphy is in an "improving state" as he begins his battle back from serious illness.

Murphy, Hull City's director of development, suffered a stroke last Thursday and remains in hospital close to his Lincolnshire home.

Manager Phil Brown visited Murphy this week and said his colleague would be receiving the full support from everyone connected to the Tigers.

The club do not expect to call on Murphy's services for the "foreseeable future", but Brown says they will provide everything possible to aid his recovery.

"All our sympathies go to his family, it's a sad time" Brown said.

"It's not irreparable the damage that has been done and we're hoping he'll recover in time. He's in an improving state, but still a poorly man.

"He's getting as much attention as we can possibly give him from a physiotherapist point of view.

"All we can say is that we wish him a speedy recovery and we'll do everything we can to help him along."

Murphy has been with the Tigers since arriving as Peter Taylor's assistant manager in October 2002.

The Hull result was a big disappointment. Especially when, as you say, Deano missed from the spot.

However, it is 5 games without defeat and the last 2 1/3 games I don't think we have played that well. The joys of football.

As I type this Arsenal just go 2-1 up. They are looking very good for the title at this rate. Not many teams come from behind (please excuse the expression) at Villa Park this season.

Jaffa, any news on Colin Murphy? I've heard he's been taken to hospital.
Indeed, Uncle Colin is quite poorly – as R.Youden says he had a stroke earlier in the week. Hopefully he'll make a full and speedy recovery. :(

Indeed, it was one of those games where even though we didn't lose it felt like a defeat. Still, as you rightly say we're making steady progress and I'd much rather be in the position we are now than the one we were in last season.

Hopefully Brown will be giving the boys a good talking too and we'll see a better performance (and a victory) against Preston on Tuesday.

I'll tell you one thing about the game though... I'm never late in, and am always in my seat in good time to see the boys run out. today though we got held up and were a couple of minutes late – and we missed two bloody goals!
