Wow....Derby snatch a point and Liverpool lose on a penalty, taking them down into 7th place on Mac City's draw.

I fully expected Man City to crush Derby.

I'm not going to call for Benitez's head, but Hicks has already come out in support of his manager twice...which, paradoxically in England, appears to represent strikes 1 and 2. Will this loss be the proverbial last straw?

Rafa only has himself to blame - why is he still starting Harry Kewell and Dirk "now't" Kuyt?

Liverpool fans want to buy out Hicks & Gillett.

£5000 each. Anyone interested?

The method involved seems to work well for Barcelona, and it can't be any worse than it is now.

It [Carragher's Challenge] was a terrible challenge, and I hope no one decides to try and tell me it wasn't a stone-wall pen.

United we're fantastic, shame we can't play that FA Cup tie this weekend, did take the foot off the gas a little after going 2 up though. Anderson came on and again impressed me. What a player he is/is going to be.

Guess I'll have to start digging behind the cushions. Not sure if I have enough cushions to scrounge up five thousand quid.

Sending an email to a couple of mates of mine, might see if, between us, we can cough up $9938.22 to buy a share...

Why have ManUre fans been singing anti Keegan songs for the last few games? You cant seriously feel threatened by Newcastle!

"REDneck Wools" is in the offing :D

Pah – £35 would have brought you a share in Ebbsfleet. Much cheaper and you get to vote on who's in the team and stuff. I expect the soup is better that served up at Anfield as well.

Does that mean Ronaldo will be off to Doncaster in a few years?
It's the big transfer rumour that everyone's taking about, that's for sure.

I hope Elliott does well at his new club. :)

Given the recent xenophobic signs scousers have been displaying at Anfield I'd better not participate in the buyout - they'd just be trading in one American owner for another.:D

Didn't see the match, but I heard that it was a clear penalty on Carragher. The penalty doesn't matter though - Liverpool only have themselves to blame for not putting up 2-3 goals. If you don't score goals how can you expect to win? Kuyt and Kewell must look really good in training for Rafa to keep picking them for starts, 'cause their form in games is crap. It's a farce.

Paul Dickov is the chap I feel sorry for this transfer deadline day. Apparently the Manchester City player sat down to watch the telly earlier only to spot his own name scrolling across the Sky Sports News ticker, and found out he'd been transferred to Blackpool. :D

Looks like Benjani is trying to go to Man city, but some paperwork failed to be completed on time...bummer though, Portsmouth look set to lose their best striker.

David Beckham and Paul Robinson are not going to be in Fabio Capello's first England squad. :)

But who gets the armband?

Link requires registration...but I went and looked it up - MLS gets two new game announcers to replace the morons currently calling games.

The quality if MLS broadcasting is terrible right now - An English League One or League 2 game probably gets better announcers. I notice that not only is Eric Wynalda gone, but they are also getting rid of Dave "A swing and a miss" O'Brien, who never figured out what football was all about, unless you were talking about the NFL variety.

Wynalda's out :D

For the next match Gerrard, I would have thought. The more pertinent question is who gets the captain's armband once Terry returns from injury?

When Sky televise Football League matches, they normally wheel out Peter bloody Beagrie. Seeing him on the TV screen never fails to anger me.

I guess you're the type who feels C Ronaldo needs special protection from refs too?

If you call that a terrible challenge, how do you describe two footed lunges? Or going straight through the back of someones legs? Or a tackle that catches someone halfway up their leg?

I want to see Gerrard get the armband, but lately his form has not been great. It shouldn't go back to Terry, even when he's fit.

Not heard him, but our match-calling in the US is dire. I wish I was fluent in Spanish, 'cause I'll bet they have decent announcers.

(Latino football announcer voice)PENAL-PENAL-PENAL-PENAL-PENAL-PEEEEENALTYYYYY!!!!!:D

I'm not fluent in Spanish, but I'll take the Univision announcers over their ESPN counterparts anytime.

I think it was a terrible tackle in a footballing sense, rather than a reckless two footed lunge. I think a terrible tackle (giving away a penalty in the last minute) and a reckless tackle are two different things.

^ Sorry, thats what I was trying to get over. Thanks R.Youden. Terrible as in, 'I thought he was good, and he just swooped a leg over and took him out in the box in the 92nd minute'
