Arsenal winning 2-0 and only 25 minutes gone, looks like Man City are in for a slapping

Edit:

Me and my big mouth, no sooner had I clicked submit and City go and score.

Arsenal have a free kick, not clicking save until they take it. And it was wasted.

lol. i bet arse get more than 2 today...if yer going to jinx someone please do it to man yoouuuu... or ipswich;)
COYS!!
UP YOU OWLS!!

Heartbreaking for Spurs, they really deserved three points but preserving a 1-0 lead against United is nigh on impossible. Keane should have scored on at least one chance...They took a point though, which is more than most teams would have gotten.

Lets see if Liverpool can actually do something useful today...even Torres has been quiet lately. :(

Birmingham? Oh yes, I'd forgotten they exist. ;)

Heartbreak for Spurs!!! bloody heartbreak for Spurs. What about the heartbreak for Birmingham, that damn goal drops us in to the relegation zone  I really wish I knew what the hell was going on, we have the players to be at least mid-table but we just can't bloody defend. Think it's time to brink Tiny Taylor back...

Well, if it makes you feel better, you're ahead of Reading and Sunderland on goal difference.

Meanwhile, Liverpool thrash about in a typical funk of mediocrity. The way they've been playing they deserve to finish outside the top ten.

EDIT: Well goodness me, look what happens when you pair Crouch and Torres...they score goals! Hope you're taking notes Rafa.

I must say, Javi looked every bit the $35M man.

And, of course at this rate, we'll have spent about a million pounds a goal for the Nino (and he was worth every penny.)

He's worth what we're paying. The deal is sweetened by the fact that Juventus paid 8.2 million pounds for Sissoko, who isn't worth half that.

Despite Liverpool's crap form he's had a good debut season - I only see things getting better with him in the squad.

Paul Dickov is the chap I feel sorry for this transfer deadline day. Apparently the Manchester City player sat down to watch the telly earlier only to spot his own name scrolling across the Sky Sports News ticker, and found out he'd been transferred to Blackpool. :D

It seems that Paul Dickov got over any bad feelings of going to Blackpool since he gets the winner today.

Not sure if you guys "watch" on Soccernet.com's Gamecast, (but I had to leave for work at halftime, so thats as good as I get)

Anyhow the live commentary
ESPN Gamecast said:
92 mins: My word, there is still time for Dirk Kuyt to remind us why he is the worst player in history. His rank first touch inside the box means a great chance to make it four goes begging. He's useless.

Sure he's not the greatest player, and he hasn't even been near good for Liverpool but thats still over the top.

Yeah, I'm pretty sure I can name a whole starting 11 that have been worse premier league players than Koyt.

The most memorably for me was Ali Dia, who claimed to be George Weah's cousin. He played 1 game for Southampton, came on as sub, and then had to substituted 20 minutes later because he was so awful.

I'll grant he's far from the worst player in history, but he hasn't adjusted to the Premier League. He's fit, has a high work rate, runs all day but can't score goals. When you compare Liverpool's strikers to the rest of the "top four" (which at this point does not include Liverpool), only Torres really compares well with the likes of Tevez, Rooney, Drogba et al.

The good-but-not great Crouch is probably our second best striker, which shows how weak we are at the front (though he did score that perfect hat trick against Arsenal last season...:)). Kuyt has 5 league goals in almost 1400 minutes of football, most of which came from starts. Crouch has 2 from less than a third of that.

To be fair, Crouch took about 24 hours of football to score his first goal in a Liverpool shirt, so I guess Rafa is showing some of the same patience with Kuyt. But his patience certainly hasn't been kind to Liverpool's standings in the Premier League.

Of course, the English national team suffers from the same problem...Capello has just four striker; I think he'll start Agbonlahor and Rooney against the Swiss, with only Crouch and Owen behind them. And Owen probably only has a few minutes of injury-free international football left in him.

No 'worst ever' line up would be complete without Carlton Palmer and Titus Bramble, surely.

Carlisle we're a touch hapless on Saturday, but never mind, picked up the 3 points and equaled our longest ever home winning streak with 9 wins on the bounce at home. Not bad.

Shame we've lost 5 in a row away from home.

Got my tickets for United away FA Cup today, and a free coach courtesy of carbonfootyprint. £12.50 child ticket for the game.. nice. :)

Soccernet.com is reporting that Gareth Bale will miss the rest of the season with his foot injury from last December. Shame to see young people go out like that.
Indeed – but I must admit that my first thought was that it means Hull's own Welsh international full-back Sam Ricketts is liable to benefit from this injury with a few international matches coming up.
