This is why we need a rule in football that only the captain can speak to the ref... if any one but the captain has a go at the ref, they get book.
Absolutely. The only player/s who need to be speaking to the referee are those involved in the offence, the captain too should have the ability to operate as a spokesman for he rest of his team. Even then, the problem of the players showing proper respect and restraint remains.

Still would like to see the idea of the sin bin brought in.
Woah, steady on there! You're sounding a bit like rugby league there. Next we'll be seeing players wearing those silly little protective skullcaps.

400x400_PetrCechNew.jpg

Ah.

first lol to the skull cap. i play with a guy who uses one and he looks like bronco nurgurski(sp?).

and as for the ref and arguing, move on lad. it's bad enough you've been given a card don't argue it into a red card... they don't change their mind no matter how sound an argument you put forth. let it go.

Ugh. :(

It was Arsenal's title to lose a few weeks ago...the draws really damaged their chances but this defeat is the final nail in the coffin as far as I'm concerned. United will have to drop significant points for anything to change...if that happens Chelsea have as good of a chance as Arsenal.

Oh well, there's always the Champions League...

Arsenal really looked flat, Adebayor was very quiet.

This should quiet Avram Grant's doubters a bit though.

Maybe it will quieten the Chelsea fans chanting "Jose Mourinho" when they were 1-0 down. Fickle. Or the scum who decided they would pick a fight with me and some others outside. Classless even on the bench, one of their staff throwing the ball away in the dying minutes to time waste. Ref sent him to the stands.

We should have beaten them yesterday, I felt we definitely had the best of the possession, but something changed when we went 1-0 up, and the attacking just seemed to stop. One offside goal later, and one piece of poor defending by Toure/a push from Drogba from what I saw.. and there you have it. That is it for our League hopes. Still, nothing I would like more after yesterday than to be coming back to Stamford Bridge for the CL semi final to knock them out.

Think Steve Bennett made a mess of that game to be honest.

If it was just the captains speaking to refs, the I suspect they'd be more likely to get sent off.

I'm sure it's common knowledge on your side of the pond, but it took me a while to figure out that "Pompey" refers to Portsmouth. I kept thinking, "I've never heard of any Pompey FC or anything like that." :p

What are you lot talking about? Steve Bennett made a bloody good job of officiating the game.

In much more important matters, another home win for Carlisle United yesterday, 2-0 against Northampton. That makes it 14 home wins in a row, and 9 wins and 2 draws from their last 11 games. Only 5 points behind League Leaders Swansea with a game in hand over them, and they are yet to visit Fortress Brunton.

Happy Days. :D

The way things are going, we could be playing you next year

The Blues are going up! Shame about Hull though, I was looking forward to a pint with Jaffa Cake before the game. ;)

Leeds are cocks though. I know we all knew, but seriously. After we gave them 3500 tickets for Brunton Park, they go and give us 1700 for Elland Road. They go on General Sale the day after I come back from my holds, so I'll try get one... But it doesn't look lik I will. Bastards.

Does anyone have the list of the Wednesday's friendly matches???
I only know that Russia goes to Bucharest to play against Romania.
Who else do we have?

Wow, thanks! Now we have it! :)
There are so many matches besides one with my team Russia that deserves attention:
France v England, 20:00 (I believe in England, they must go out from this terrible chasm)
Portugalv Greece, 19:45 (Will support Portugal. Guess why? ;))

Spain v Italy, 21:00 (I like Spain but not this year. I don't like Italy but no this time. ;))
Sweden v Brazil, 19:45 (Surely will be against Sweden and support Brazil with it "Russian" players - Vagner Love and Jo)

Spain are a weird team in respect to that they have great players but don't do well in competitions. I'm supporting Spain for the euros now that we aren't in it.

I think France on home soil will beat us, obviouly I hope we win.

Not really. We're not actually that good, see.

The Blues are going up! Shame about Hull though, I was looking forward to a pint with Jaffa Cake before the game. ;)
Fret not, there's plenty of time for us to blow it yet. And even if we do manage to go up, I'm sure Carlisle won't be far behind us once Super Joey Garner is rebuilt by science. Besides, we can meet up in foreign climes before the Hull City/Carlisle United 2012 Champions League final. :)

And yes, Leeds are awful in every conceivable way. Dirty Leeds.

Yeah, we scored 2 ;)

This year is the year that we'll finally beat Liverpool in the CL, since the second leg's at the Bridge!

And about the captain talking to the ref, I may be wrong, but I thought this was already the case?

You're wrong.

And we'll do you at the Bridge.

;)

I hope the sting of the defeat to United spurs the Reds on to CL glory...they still have a major piece of silverware to play for.

I'm torn on their fixtures against Arsenal in the League though...I don't want United to win the title but if we beat Arsenal in the league it will surely end the title race in Man U's favor, unless Chelsea go on a major run and United drop points in games they should easily win.

I've just finished watching the U21's play Poland, and I'll admit to shrieking like a proper girl when Frazier Campbell was cynically scythed down while foraying forwards. No harm done, fortunately.

EDIT: Oh bloody hell. Bloody hell.

Our next match is a huge promotion tussle against Watford – a match we've really got to go out and win. I've just had a look on the Football League website to see which referee we've been assigned and...
