The only problem I can find with Liverpool - Chelsea games, is of course that there can be only one looser.

And only one loser. I agree.

In all seriousness, can any neutral watching this not wish they were watching Arsenal instead? Compare the first 20 mins when we were at Anfield to the first 20 there. Dullest game ever! It's unbelievable, passing and moving is just shoddy. I don't watch that much of other teams and never really thought much of how much the media wank all over our passing game.. but that is boring, dull and grim to watch!

but that is boring, dull and grim to watch!

Chelsea have been boring all season (well, for several seasons), and Benitez is a cautious type. I hope Rafa doesn't try to put eleven men behind the ball and grind out a 1-0 win now that we are ahead. We need another goal.

I guess I should have expected it. Shouldn't really have watched, was bound to just bring back painful feelings :(

I hope the ineptitude and under-achievement lasts at until after the England - USA friendly. I love English football, but I'd love it if we beat them, love it.

EDIT: . What on EARTH was that!?!?!. Well, Liverpool scored two goals, as I predicted...Except that Riise put one into the wrong goal. ****.

...I KNEW we needed a second goal...

I couldn't agree more. Since both Liverpool and Chelsea lost to Barnsley in the FA Cup this year, the only fair way to relieve us of this misery is for Barnsley to go on to the finals.

Yep.
I am glad I missed it...

Was reading about the game, and it seemed a real pain to watch. And characteristically Chelski somehow salvaged a result.. :(

Maybe the UEFA should introduce a jury who can give points to a side on "how good it was to watch them" You know, similar to juries in figure skating and ski jumping. So every team could get from 1 point to 5 points, which will be added to the amount of goals scored.... ;) Lost 2-1 but played far more exciting: you win 5-4 aggregate!
:D

Relax.. at least you didn't have a stonewall penalty not given :)

All is not lost, you can still go to the second leg away now, score twice, play some brilliant stuff, concede a dodgy penalty and lose it there instead.

You gotta love that Riise... :D :D :D

I don't really care if Liverpool or Chelsea reaches the final, but oh how gorgeous that own goal was... and the timing and the fact that it was the least likeable player on the Norwegian national team that did it was 100% perfect... </schadenfreude>

Poor lad. He can't look his team mates in the face.

:p

what a cracking header :D

Thought the ref was shocking, stopping the game so often made it even worse, and if he gave a foul every time somebody had their hands on another players back, why didn't he give a penalty when Cole shoved Kuyt in the back?

Question: Why is Riise the least likeable player on the Norwegian national team? I'm sure that right now he's the least liked player at Liverpool.

Looks like sending Riise on instead of Hyypia was not the best move.

I doubt it will be that exciting. Since I'm in such a black mood, I'm predicting it'll be a lifeless, soulless, 0-0 draw sending Chelsea through to get crushed 4-0 by United in the final. :(

Liverpool need to go to the bridge and score two goals now, which simply isn't going to happen.

one will be enough, providing they don't score for Chelsea again.

Still on the bright side, as they didn't win by 2 or 3 goals, hopefully it means a they will put out a weaker team against Birmingham on Saturday and we can get a point or 3...

I dislike Chelsea, but I dislike them less than United so I'm still hoping the Mancunians stumble and Chelsea nip the title (though I still have a tiny kernel of hope that my Reds take the CL). I think they are still pushing for that, so they'll come out with all guns blazing. But by all means, please nick a win demoralize them in time for the second leg. ;)

What's there to like...?!?

There's also been quite a few incidents, like he sending sex text messages to a large number of Norwegian female celebrities he didn't know, or the time he actually wound up John Carew enough that Carew knocked the s*** out of him on the player's bus, or his strange relations to agents and such, with the bankruptcy triggered by a fight with one agent and that weird mother of his who used to be his agent, and the list goes on...

But most of all is the fact that he's just plain "uspiselig" (uneatable) as we say in Norwegian, which is more or less a stronger, more extensive word for unsympatic. ;)

it was more of an open semi final than I was expecting! Hope tonight’s is better but you never know!

If current form is anything to go by, it will be a rout. Nevertheless, I hope the football gods smile on Barca today.

EDIT: Very surprised to see a draw...still, you'd have to think United have the advantage going into the second leg. Barca need to go to Old Trafford and score.

or, after all the hype of the quality players and ‘total football’ possibilities it could be another 0-0 and go to penalties! – How cynical am I!

Well, I'm sure Liverpool will overcome this awful Riise's mistake as well as he personally will cope with it as an experienced and nice player... But still it will be really hard to beat Chelski on Stanford Bridge next week..
As well as Barca... Man. Utd. will definitely pass them on Old Traford..
I think we'll see Liverpool - United in Moscow's final.. But Chelski in final will be more preferable for Moscow's spectators.. :)

Aurelio is out for the season, which means we'll be starting either Hyypia or Riise in the second leg...anyone care to bet which? :D

I really want to see Henry score against United...he came close yesterday.

Not conceding an away goal is vital for United. If Barca score, which they certainly have the players to do, its all for United to do. Henry scoring would be very nice, I still love him.. sad to see he's not having a great time in Spain.
