I quite like that Liverpool strip, it's a bit more refined.

However I am big enough to admit that I really dislike our new strip..

Oh, just noticed this. It's got to be worse still. Goalkeeper kit:

I don't like the collar on the home kit, the away kit is alright actually. But then again I always like the holland kit.

Got an amazing weekend coming up; managed to get tickets for the Fulham-Birmingham 6 pointer. Followed by the Arsenal-Everton match on Sunday. Very excited to say the least.

Anyone heading to any Premier League matches this weekend?

I wish I've got a boat load of work to do this weekend,, will spend the day as per usual listening to all the games on the radio. Might try and find somewhere online to watch the Liverpool game

...I know what you're thinking – it's grey. But it isn't, it's 'flint'. Which isn't grey at all. So there. :p

Missing the Premier league logos on the armbands ;)

It was announced earlier this evening that the Hull City-Ipswich Town match is going to be televised on Sky this Sunday, so I'll be watching that. I would have like to have gone alone to Portman Road, but it's our daughter's birthday on the same day so we'll be having a nice family day watching and hoping we can clinch an automatic promotion spot. ;)

Good luck then, I lived in Norwich for 7 years so I always cheer on whoever is playing Ip-****.

Also, just to introduce myself to this thread, I live in Guildford but have been a lifelong Arsenal supporter.

Man City didn't exactly set the league on fire this season, but I'm still a bit surprised that Sven will be sacked.

Do you think it's a mistake, or a good move?

I think the Premier League (or the owners?) has set an impossibly high standard for managers during their first season in charge.

This has been brewing for a little while, this is due to Shinawatra not actually knowing anything about football. Good to see him putting his alleged:)rolleyes:) ill gotten money to good use.

If Sven didn't start the season off so well perhaps he would still be in a job for next season because to the uniformed, Shinawatra, it looks like Man City could win the premiership in the first little while and then lost out. Where as Man City are a mid table team so they have done well this season. And Sven has built a good base to push on for next season but then again if you know nothing about football all that will pass under the bridge.

exactly! I share those those views entirely, and actually my own opinions are a little more extreme as well.

I genuinely think that the day Glazer managed to buy Man U was a terrible day in history and since then all of these foreign owners have only done damage to the English game. We might have the world's best league but now all the players and managers are foreign. Furthermore these extreme amounts of wealth have rendered all English players too expensive, and therefore stuck in the lower divisions.

If I am ever an MP I am going to write up a bill putting ownership limitations in place. Just like in Canada no airlines or telecoms companies can be more than 49% foreign owned.

I agree. I also think you're right that the good start to the season has given Shinawatra a false sense of his team's potential - he must think they should be challenging for a European football spot or even challenging the top four. Dreams. It takes years to get there, and I think that it's a bad move for Man City to sack Sven. They might get another good manager, but they already have one...

I'll be at Arsenal on Sunday I think. Will doubtless be a wanky atmosphere, but I want to go to say goodbye to the team for the summer :)

Then what say you of the rumoured new Arsenal shirts for next year?

arsenal0809kits.jpg

As I say, these aren't 'official' but they've been doing the rounds on teh interwebz for a bit now. The reaction has been mixed, a lot of Gooners apparently don't like the red encroaching onto the sleeves, nor the white side panels.

The away shirt meanwhile is based on the 1989 away model worn while doing a spot of title-clinching at Anfield.

The home jersey isn't bad, but I don't like the earthtone away colors.
I think the actual shirt (if these images are indeed correct) will be a bit brighter than the one in the pic I posted – the red is a bit dark too, it would no doubt be a more 'Arsenal' red.

Hull should bring back the tiger stripes if they get promoted.
Stripes are returning for 2008-09, but not tiger stripes... ;)

Oh, and by the way – sacking Sven? Not a good move, I feel.

So, an all English Champions League final it is then. Might I be first to apologise to the rest of the footballing world for the complete dross we're liable to serve up for you in Moscow? :p

I care less about the result of the Liverpool - Chelsea match then whoever wins beats United in the final.

Moscow will be dour though.

I didn't see any mention of the new Liverpool kit

I really like it, seems a more retro look.

Also note the only plays you can make out from the huddle in the background are Gerrard, Alonso, Torres and Reina. Not like the 2008 Liverpool calendar where Sissoko is September;)

As a red member this was the first time since the Newcastle FA Cup match that I was actually able to get tickets. Sitting up in section 118.

Now that all the pressure is off I'm hoping we see the team's full potential, same as the performance on Monday. It would be especially nice to Walcott start to get comfortable, he truly has the talent to become one of the best players in the world. Reminds me a lot of C. Ronaldo actually.

both are hideous.

Thing is... He is a 'orrible diving greasy little bastard.

Who Drogba or Benitez? :D

Anyways, Rafa should just keep his mouth shut since Gerrard has been known to fall down in the box a time or two.

Edit: For the record, Drogba is a diving wanker. As to his greasiness, I have no comment.

This is true as well, I thought he went a bit OTT against Blackburn recently.

Drogba is very greasy, just FWIW. :D

I have to say that I've seen Gerrard go to ground a little too easily a few times.

But Drogba is on a whole new level in terms of diving...he belongs in Serie A.

Pretty rough. Not sure I believe they are true though.
