Portsmouth v. Arsenal

Big match today for Arsenal, with some much needed points on the line in the chase for 4th place in the fixtures. Hopefully Thierry will see a bit more time in this one  .

Update: First half goal from Henry....1-0 Arsenal

Update v2.0: Portsmouth draw even at 66 minutes, time to pick up the pace, Gunners.

Oh ****. For ****s sake.

GRRRRR.

We've ****ed this up now. Really ****ED IT UP.

MEH. Adebayor, you're ****. Learn how to finish dammit.

Oh dear, Lua Lua. As a professional footballer there are lots of ways you can get injured... a crunching tackle from an opponent, pulling a hamstring racing for the ball, even a freak accident on the training ground. However, getting yourself carted off after you fell over celebrating your goal isn't going to cover you in glory, mate. :D

There's a rumour going around France ...

... that, last night, the Gunners AFC (Arsenal French Club) played an English man! Wenger is going soft. We, the French people have charged him with destroying your national team in preparation of winning Germany 2006. Remember 2004? More Arsenal for France than England? When Cole goes to Real Madrid - the only English man to be on the pitch will be the man on a lawn mower. We see the Highbury faithful on TV and it's good to see Internationalism but no Londoners in the team? No English? Not even a Welshman! I saw Reyes on TV saying he was having trouble learning English because he never hears it at Arsenal. I'd hate that to happen to my team. The Premiership is still exciting though for the independent.

Not true at all – they've still got Sol Cam... ah, never mind.

Do doo dooooooah!

Sol's a gooner!

Yeah, Sol was commited last night apparently, and played well. I'd rather him than Mr. Senderos. Whatever people say about him, he isn't that great. Kinda slow too...

Well, we'll now officially be welcoming Sunderland to the KC next season. They've finally been relegated despite a spirited 0-0 draw against Manchester United at Old Trafford.

Of course, it's also a great result if you happen to be a Chelsea supporter – the Premiership title could be yours on Monday.

I hope this still means Man Yoo are up for the game against Tottenham..

Don't worry – I'm sure Fergie is giving them a good blast of the hairdryer even as I post. I'm sure that'll help focus their minds for the match against Spurs this Monday... :D

By the way, XIII – I'm sure a card-carrying Gooner such as your good self is already aware, but the first match at the new Emirates Stadium has been announced – it's going to be Dennis Bergkamp's testimonial. :)

Yep, I heard. ;) Its good news I think, very fitting for such an Arsenal legend.

Arsenal v. West Brom

Following this match on the Internet once again, we'll see how things go in the quest for 4th. Doesn't that cheer sound great?

"We're number four, we're number four!"

Update:
finally a victory when needed! This sets up Arsenal for a huge match next week v. Tottenham, battling it out for the final spot. Even though Arsenal let West Brom hang around far longer than necessary, it was good to see them put one away.

Being a Dutch Arsenal fan I am particulary proud of Dennis.
And it was very touching to see fans turn up in orange colours!!

So let's sing for the last time:

"There's only one Dennis Bergkamp,
There's only one Dennis Bergkamp,
Walking along,
Singing this song,
Walking in a Bergkamp Wonderland."

:)

let us not forget the 96 that died at Hillsborough 17 years ago today...

did i see that the Prem players were all wearing armbands for the 96 today? couldn't make it out 100% whilst watchng the Chelski or Wigan games this morning (i'm 5 hours behind don't forget)

So that's what the black armband is for? I saw the Chelsea match, but the armband is too small for me to make out what it is. Which begs the question: what's the point of such armbands?

it's a sign of respect, and remembrance really. as far as i know anyway...

i'm sure you'll see Liverpool wearing them tomorrow, and will no doubt have a minute's silence before the game.

Ah... I saw the swathes of orange at Highbury and wondered what was going on – I did guess that it was in honour of the Non-Flying Dutchman, so thanks for confirming that.

Good to see as well that, as evoluzione mentioned, those who died at Hillsborough were properly remembered and respected today. It really doesn't seem like 17 years ago that it all happened – I remember very clearly hearing the first reports on Grandstand that there were 'crowd troubles' at the match, and then listening horrified as the events of that afternoon unfolded. :(

I remember feeling an awful pit of the stomach nausea that just got stronger. One of those moments when you know people are dying as you watch and there is nothing that you can do. Just like the feeling watching the towers fall on 9/11.

RIP
