Until next week when he signs for Grimsby :p

I don't know how much we paid for him (undisclosed fee and all that), but I can only hope part of his switch from Millwall included a substantial sell-on clause. :D

As you say though, if he's a dud we can soon offload him to Grimsby (or, if he's really bad, Sc*nthorpe). All the players we send sarf of the river are rubbish, with the exception of the Shearer-baiting Justin Whittle who's up there with Cruyff and Beckenbauer IMHO.

Here's a question for you... people talk about a club's longest serving player and all that, but what about the shortest amount of time a player has been on a team's books?

I ask because we signed David Livermore from Leeds today – thing is, he only signed for our hapless neighbours on July 22, commanding a fee of £400,000 no less.

Still, if he's an honest professional and a great talker I'm delighted to have him in the building. :D

um Didi Hamann spent 24 hours at Bolton before going to Man City. i think it was 24 hours anyway. that earned Bolton about the same me thinks, or was it 40k?

According to Didi's Wikipedia page he signed for them in June but signed for City on July 12. Bolton got £400,000 compensation apparently, so that seems a tidy bit of business!

I suppose a few days in Bolton or Leeds is enough to make anyone want out... ;)

Out of interest, how have you "qualified for Europe" Jaffa (no offence!)? Aren't you a Hull City fan,or have a missed an explanation somewhere completely? Or a joke...

Thanks to Al for sorting out my 'tar.. :) I'm now all set with the 'tar and sig for the new season. :D

I've been on holiday in The Netherlands for the past week – watching us lose to Derby on a telly in a Dutch bar is about the closest I'll come to seeing the Tigers playing in Europe for a while yet, I fear... :D

One more day to go till the kickoff of Premiership 06/07! I'm looking forward to my first year of watching Arsenal from this side of the Atlantic, with games on at a proper time in the evening after work. :)

Go Gunners.

The Premiership might start tomorrow, but the English season started two weeks ago, fella. ;) Personally, I'm looking forward to our bottom-of-the-table relegation six-pointer against Ipswich tomorrow...

Anyway, on the subject of Arsenal it appears Ashley Cole won't figure in the team to play Villa tomorrow...

Yep!!

Great new stadium, the Emirates.... albeit "in need for some atmosphere", but I'm sure it will come!

Let's see how tough Chelsea's gonna get it this season. ;)

Here's to hoping for a very exciting season, with a close finish!!

1) Arsenal
2) Liverpool
3) Man Ure
4) Chelski
5-10) many others
11) Tottenham

:D

Less than 12 hours till Liverpool kick off. Im freaking excited. The Carlsberg is in the fridge.

And less than 10 minutes until they drop their first 2 points of the season. :)

Edit: Yupp.

It's done...

...and they should have dropped 3... that was never a penalty...

I didn't see it. All I heard about were some pretty appalling time wasting tactics from Sheffield United.

Arsenal team news: Rosicky injured, Reyes and Cole not playing. Titi and Ade starting upfront, with RVP on the bench.

Liverpool were poor. Didnt really deserve much from the game. Penalty was dodgey.

Dissapointed with Liverpool, expected more. They just didnt seem as solid but I guess that comes down to it being the 1st game.

C'mon Arsenal.. come on. A good start is needed..

Also in the news:

One day, I would like that honour at Arsenal. Thierry (Henry) is a great captain and I hope I can stay at Arsenal for a very, very long time and if I have the chance, I would love to be captain.

Good stuff. :D
