For my part, I'm concerned at all the stories being spun out from Stamford Bridge. Mourinho will be gone by the summer, I'm sure of it, and the board seem to be acting somewhat bizarrely... not good. I'd hate it if they became another Hearts. ;)

Mourinho isn't the manager he is cracked up to be, as I said many times even when Chelsea looked unbeatable for the last two seasons. Although a talented manager with a winning mentality I think Chelsea parting ways with him and replacing him with hiddink can only be a bad thing for the rest of the premiership - because not only is he one of the top 5 managers in europe, but he also has class too.

No sign of the mysterious little man then? ;)
No, Andy Hessenthaler hasn't played for us in quite a while. I think he's at Barnet now?

As for Mourinho, I'm inclined to agree – I think Chelsea will have a new manager in time for the 2007/2008 season. The question is how this uncertainty will affect the players. At a time when it's vital that they win their games and catch Man Utd, anything that affects the players confidence is going to be detrimental. Mourinho won't be out of work for long, though, have no worry about that.

Mind, I felt a little annoyed at his complaints earlier this week about his board not backing him in the players he wants to buy. There are managers the length and breadth of the land trying to build teams on free transfers, rejects and loans who would kill for a fraction of the resources he's enjoyed during his time at Chelsea. The only possibility they have of getting some cash in is when Hull buy one of their ineffectual cloggers for an over-inflated fee. :D

Sorry Jose, but I don't have any sympathy for you on that issue.

Whatever you say. I'll take someone who's actually won the European Cup and the UEFA Cup with a fairly unrated team of theirs, thanks.

He winds me up sometimes, but he also amuses me immensely and the game is richer for it. And his whining is also far more petulantly entertainingly stroppy than Arsene Wenger's. ;)

Did you actually read what I said, or are you just assuming that I called him a crap manager? I don't think he is in the same league as some of the top managers in europe, I (and many, many others) don't think he is all he is cracked up to be, that is to say... overrated, not crap.

Hiddink is a far better manager, I will be more worried if he is given copious amounts of money.

With that said, it won't be long before Rafa has obscene amounts to spend himself. For every Russian billionaire, there's a richer ruler of Dubai (not true of course, as there is only one ruler of Dubai). It will be nice for someone to be on the same level financially.

I agree that Morinho is less irritating than Wenger. Oh, and Jose: if you do get fed up at Chelsea, feel free to become coach of the US national team; we could use one at the moment.

...And I still think that Wenger looks like Sam the Eagle.

On the point of football people looking like cartoon characters:

If you don't know the guy on the left is the Tango Man ;)

They've just shown our goals on The Championship and it was plain to see we are quite ace. Also good to see John Gregory bleating pathetically in his post match interview. :D

And funnily enough, they had a special feature on Andy Hessenthaler a little earlier on the programme. He is indeed at League Two Barnet now.

Just seen that too, do you think John Gregory was a bit disappointed!

and we have just seen Deano score twice for Bradford. We should have got him back a few years ago. He used to live next door to us in Cottingham! Thick as anything!

I heard a story somewhere that the first time Adam Pearson met Windass he was being carried out of the bar at the KC after a match, quite the worse for drink. If that is true, based on that first impression you wouldn't expect the chairman to want to sign him.

When I say 'he was being carried out', I mean Windass of course, not Pearson. :p

He also holds the distinction of receiving three red cards in a single game when he played for Aberdeen – the first being a second booking for foul play, the second red being for verbally abusing the ref, and the third for assaulting the corner flag as he left the pitch. Not a good example to set to any youngsters watching. :D

There's only one Deano. :)

Today reminded me how great football can be.

As for Chelsea. If everything goes tits up I have very little sympathy. They have wanted too much and they just expect success. I hope Mourihno does go and they really struggle. I would fell very sorry for the TRUE fans but it has been bad for football and I hope that their potential failure is a lesson to everyone else. Football is a game for FANS not people with big pockets. Success should be earned, not taken out of greed!

This is reflected in the state of Real Madrid at the moment. (i know, i know Spain again) but they tried buying all the best players and never won a thing. Beckham in 3 and a half years at Real has won nothing at all. Money is nice but you cant buy success. It needs hard work. If Chelsea actually played their games on the pitch and not in the media they might actually win something.

The problem is that Chelsea have bought (I mean won) some trophies. That is what is so bad for football. Now every club thinks that to achieve success they have to spend £120M is three years on players. So that has the negative effect of raising players prices. If a players agents want to double his fee, he says that Chelsea are interested.

Unfortunaelty that is a situation Hull City found them selves in a few years ago although in a different manor. We where a big club in a small pond and other teams knew how much money we had so they raised the price on players.

Also what else is ruining football is the greed of English players. Look at Ashley Cole, an utter disgrace. As for Ashley Young being woth £12M, had what a joke! If you where a Premiership manager you could get 3 players of the same quality for the same price, but you would have to buy foriegn players which has a detremental effect on the Premiership, and the English national team in the long run. I would like to see a law where only a certain number of players for outside the home nation can play, but that would go against EU law so we are buggered. Bloody EU! Grrrr.......

Rant of the day over and done with:eek:

Well ladies and gentlemen, we're on the brink of what Sky are breathlessly calling 'Grand Slam Weekend' – tomorrow Premiership heavyweights Liverpool and Chelsea lock horns at Anfield, while on Sunday it's a battle of the titans as Arsenal and Manchester United renew their bitter rivalry. Is anyone prepared to try to predict the scorelines in this epic clash of England's top four teams?

I'm going for two unremarkable 1-1 draws myself.

Liverpool 0 - 1 Chelsea
Arsenal 2 - 2 Man Utd

Think (hope) that Chelsea can get at least a draw at Anfield; it depends on which team turn up for the day. Not sure how all the hullabaloo will affect Chelsea. Cech and Robben are available... Really think Arsenal can win this one.

You heard it here first. ;) :D

Wonderful win by Liverpool today. Took advantage of Chelsea's weakness very well, although the score should probably have been more for Liverpool.

If Arsenal win tomorrow, the premiership won't be wide open but the door will be ajar.

A great win for Liverpool, but all it means is that ManUre will win the title, they'll beat Arsenal tomorrow I think, which means our real hope lies in second place in the league and a good showing in the Champions League...

Chelsea were wretched, like all mercenaries, when the going gets tough the money just ain't enough....

Without John Terry and a functional Lampard (who was a shadow today) Chelski's bought legions have no heart for a fight.

Yes, I know every damn team in the Premiership has it's "take the money and run" merchants, but none has so many that are so expensive and so ineffective than Chelsea. Ballack and Shevchenko are men out of touch, and only Drogba was effective and he gave up at half time.

Bye bye Jose, nice knowing you.

Peter Crouch is not good enough to play for Liverpool or England. With his height he should be 'unplayable' for a defender, but he proved yet again today just what a poor 'finisher' he is.

(By the way I support Arsenal, but was a honourary Liverpool fan toady ;) )

Yeah dreadful

Not only is he a very good finisher, but he is top scorer for his club this season and has an unbelievable record for his country. With his amazing goals to games ratio for England, saying he isn't good enough for the country is ignorant.

His game offers much much more than just goals and finishing.
