Hmmm...

How many European cities have more than one team represented in the CL?

London: Arsenal, Chelsea
Milan: AC, Inter
(.. any more..?)

Liverpool... next year then? :D

LIIIIIII-VERRRRRRRR-POOOOOOOOLLL!

I stopped watching when we went down 2-0... but my DVR caught it all, so I suppose I can go back and watch it now. :) Got my jersey on, time to go out and par-tay!

I very nearly gave up on it at half-time, but my wife (a Man Utd supporter...) said, "they only need 3 goals" and I bought it.... :D

That rates as the greatest comeback in modern football.

What did Rafa Benitez say at half time?

Dunno but it must have been good! Bet Stevie G had a thing to say too. Still can't get over it, Sky+ is set up to record it all on the repeat at 1am.

I'll be buying every damn paper available tomorrow morning! Wish I was back home though instead of London - doesn't feel right going to bed! Need to be out in Matthew Street getting tanked up!!!

And we get to keep the Cup now we've won it 5 times! Nice :D

You know things are going good when you get support from a ManU supporter.... if if they have a vested interest ;)

Well, another season is over, and it has been good to be an Evertonian. Not only did we secure the 4th place against all odds, but we actually increased the gap to Liverpool on the All time table:

but what does the first column mean??? looks like Liverpool have won more games, lost less games, and has a better goal difference. not quite sure how Evert-n are the better team...still you did manage to get into the qualifying stages of the Champions League, can't take that away from you (or can we?). 5 time champions of Europe.... :)

The first column (S) is number of Seasons in the top league.

Liverpool has won more games, but Everton has enough draws to keep them in the lead, remember Everton has 12 more seasons and has played more games all together... ;)

Edit2: On the above table a win is given 2 pts, as it has been for most of the time, but even if you change to todays system and award 3 pts for a win Everton would still lead, but then only by 7 points.

Looks like the new sacrificial lambs for the upcoming season will be Sunderland, Wigan (which always reminds me of Monty Python, for some reason... I think Eric Idle said "Wigan" in a sketch once), and West Ham. Too bad Ipswich couldn't make it... when I lived in the UK, near Ipswich, I always enjoyed it when Liverpool beat 'em. :)

While not Premier League exactly, bit odd and slightly worrying to see Liverpool & Chelsea in same Champions' League group -- something I'm sure neither team would have wanted.

Living in sunny California, I'm a bit out of touch with the football at home - last I heard Liverpool weren't going to be in the Champion's League even though they won it, since they didn't end high enough in the Premier League. So how did they swing this? Did UEFA (or whoever runs the CL) change the rules?

To cut a long story short... Liverpool were given special dispensation (as holders) to enter this years competition – without depriving one of the other English sides of the place that they'd earned through their league position. However, their place in the Group Stages wasn't guaranteed. They had to make their way through all the qualification rounds and were told that if they did make it through to the Champions League proper then they wouldn't get 'country protection' – ie, they could end up getting drawn against another English side in the Group Stages, an eventuality that is normally against the tournament rules. Hence, they're in this years competition, and hence they've got to play another English team – namely Chelsea.
