They're delivering tens of thousands of phones all in one day.
I would imagine that there will be morning deliveries and afternoon deliveries and evening deliveries.
 
Do any of you guys who have had their status moved to preparing for shipment had their shipping method moved to holiday?

Cause mine still hasn't changed to preparing for shipment but the method changed to holiday shipping.
 
Preparing for Shipment here. It's funny how this whole weekend will be me staring at the Order Status page .... It's going to be a long week for reals. Hope I get it a day or two early. That would be the greatest. FedEx come in the morning in my area..

I purchase two 16GB black phones, one at about 318 and the other about 325 EST, the first one just changed from standard to holiday shipping.

I was just wondering what that meant, is there a holiday next week?

Holiday shipping change just means they are doing a rush delivery. Apple uses this to rush deliveries faster.

Standard is usually 4-5 business days
Holiday (Rush) would be 2-3 days.

I like to consider Holiday as First class rush delivery.
 
After getting an e-mail from Apple about not getting the chance to pick up Applecare+ at the time of purchase (I ordered through the Apple Store app) I checked my status and saw that my order is preparing for shipment. Anyone else who ordered using the app hear from Apple in regards to Applecare+?

I just got the same email a little while ago. (Ordered a 64GB AT&T Black at 0023 on 9/14 through the app...now preparing for shipment).
 
I'm actually not sure what time I placed my order. I know I did it right when pre-orders went live on the Apple Store app, but my confirmation email is time stamped 12:00AM PST. I'm still stuck on processing, but I'm not really worried because it still says delivers 9/21 and Apple has a pending charge for the full amount in my checking account. I ordered a black 16GB AT&T model. Hopefully it changes to preparing for shipment soon, though.

hopefully im one of the lucky ones who get their phones a day or two ahead of schedule (highly unlikely but still hopeful) :D
 
Vodafone UK sent a conformation email to say expected delivery date will be 24th Sep. Although I'm sure I'll get it on the 21st Sep. Fingers crossed.
 
Everyone who is preparing for shipping, have your credit cards been charged? Still processing here and have no pending charges showing in my account.
 
I am still trying to figure out how they fulfill orders. If i order a phone, and someone else orders a phone from the same site. And i ordered mine before they did. How come theirs gets filled first? It is so weird. I cannot figure out how they process orders.
