The Quality of your MBPr screens - feedback please!

From my experience with the iPads (3rd gen) the yellow is very noticeable when on this site because if the white background. I went through 3 before I found one that didn't have that yellow tint. Enjoy!! Wonderful computer!

This was actually the first site I visited on it Looked perfect! Will see how she holds up Just thrilled ot have it! been using a 867mhz g4 powerbook and a windows pc for over 3 weeks

If you can get it replaced for a new machine do it. They didn't ticken the screws properly on mine and now I have to go back.

Anyone else getting flickering on certain colors / images? E.g. when changing external monitors (plugging/unplugging them) that blue blank screen flickers, if a lightbox pops up on a webpage, the dimmed area flickers, certain images with gray-ish gradients, etc... Grrrr. Unit #3 here I come?

Good score... out of curiosity, are you one who notices a lot of screen problems?

when I compare between hardware next to each other or start to look for flaws I tend to have easier to find them, but it's not like some guys who just walks by a screen and they start bleeding from their eyes

Guess with some "training" I can spot things faster but as of now I would answer with: slightly above average

I just got my 2.3/16/256 RMBP... thought I noticed something was off, and I then compared it to my 8GB model (that I'm returning soon). My new one is noticeably more yellow than my old one, and it also appears to be more dim, even at full brightness. I ran the LCD identifier in Terminal and found that my new RMBP has the LG model, LP154WT1-SJA1, whereas my old one has the Samsung model, LSN154YL01001. But when I got my old model, I thought that one had a pink tint. However, both are 'tinted' compared to my iPhone, but who's to say my iPhone isn't tinted blue...

Anyone take back machine with dead pixels? Did they let you keep the machine until a new what comes in?

No issue with display, there where some spots on the screen that were just cleaned off.

Not sure where they came from but I could only see them if I changed the display to a solid color.

First retina was chipped during Shipment; no display issues. Replacement no display issues except 5 dead pixels

I'm just so sick of returning these damn things! my first 2.3/8/256 had a pink tint, and then the next replacement I got had the same thing. Now this one has a yellow tint. And I'll need to ship it back too... grr. The tint isn't really bugging me anymore, but the screen is really dim compared to my last one... it's almost kind of difficult to work with considering I'm so used to using 100% brightness.

I dont know what you guys think, but I think that Apple's quality control has been decreasing since Retina Display. I had the same problem with my iPhone 4 and the new iPad.

Both has yellowish tint on the screen, same exact issue. After couple replacements, I finally got to see flawless screens.

I am speaking with Apple online store representative now demanding for a replacement (I'm still under 14-day return period).

I am disappointed, but Apple has been helpful enough to offer replacements and solutions throughout my rant.

I am hoping for a better quality control in future products

I'm glad that someone else feels the same, I'm currently talking to ABT's live chat so we'll see where this goes. From my understanding, they charge a 15% restocking charge on any return or exchange, but I hope because this is an actual defect they won't make me pay that

I promise you that you're exactly right. I've now confirmed this with virtually every family member and friend who has purchased the new iPad. They literally cannot see anything wrong with their screens, and most of their screens are really bad.

This is why there hasn't been a "screengate" ala "antennagate". It's a problem that Apple is very much aware of, but they don't have to acknowledge it because most of their customers aren't.

I wonder if it has much to do with your hue discrimination ability. If you can score 100% on this test (as I can), you probably see bad screens everywhere you go:

I think you're probably right. I got a perfect score myself (using a TN monitor at that ><), and people call me crazy when I complain about some screen issue. I'm a 21 year old male fwiw. I'm not a graphics designer, nor do I give even the slightest care about the arts (my point being I'm not specifically trained to detect colors)

I wish that test listed the statistics for the test scores. Would be interesting to see what the average score is and how much it varies.

These are high resolution panels guys, but they are not good panels in other respects and they are problematic it seems in batches. It's one thing to make a high dpi panel, it's another to manage the finer details of it. That needs time.

I am waiting till nec or eizo pick the desktop counterparts of these up after a year or so maybe and put some of their magic behind them to make a really great monitor.

What I keep wondering in all this, is, where the eff is sharp? We 've been hearing about them, and yet we see samsung on the ipad and lg on the mac... Sharp's igzo is supposed to bring so many advantages to the table, yet apparently they can't seem to make it to production without issues.

The results page has a link that will let you submit your results and compare it to others. It's got a breakdown by age range and gender.

LSN154YL01001 - Samsung here - and i have a perfect screen. No dead pixels, no ghosting, no yellow, no bleeding, uniform colors. Love it.

Mine is a LG panel, not noticing anything amiss however.

The bad screens can well be down to manufacturing variances. You get many good ones and some bad ones.

Mine is an LG and perfect; no ghosting, no bleed, no dead pixels, uniform in colour, almost a bright as my Late 2011 15" MBP, "seems" like it`s random to me, there are already more than enough people returning machines due to OCD, lets not start an LG is inferior thread, at least without definitive facts...

Those that have no issue are likely not to raise their voice, those that do are probably here, well the minority...
