Would love to hear your opinion on my screen guys. Had to return the first one because the ghosting was a lot worse.

So after receiving my second retina, here are some images I tried to take displaying the ghosting. Was hoping to see if you guys think this is normal/acceptable due to the IPS display, or if I should call Apple again and ask for another one.

The website I left on the screen was, http://flightaware.com. You can see from the images some of the outlines of the "grid" layout from the website. Keep in mind, it's only under perfect conditions and if you get up close to the screen, but nonetheless, here's the pics.

Bumped up contrast so it is easier to see "ghosting"

Aside from the ghosting (which I can't really see; I'm talking more about the contrast/color gradients), yours looks just like my screen. Overall its pretty damned good looking unless I go searching for problems (which, of course, I always feel compelled to do), but my new rMBP is perfect in every other way so I'm inclined to accept a little bit of color/contrast non-uniformity. I refuse to start playing the display roulette game with my rMBP...I went through that with my iPad 3 and wound up keeping the first one AI got...none were perfect display-wise.

My screen is gorgeous. No ghosting, no light bleed, no discolouration. It's exactly as it should be.

There's also no scrolling lag in Safari, or UI lag from what I can tell, though that might be because the computer I came from is 5 years old and pretty laggy.

Overall loving this a lot. Did I mention I'm getting around 7-8 hours from moderate use on a full battery charge, with nearly max brightness?

really? how do you do that?
'cause mine only says 6 hours web browsing on 75% brightness :(

16GB 2.6GHz MBPr

(i've read somewhere that it could be do to a faulty migration document...
did you fixed that, or didn't you do anything?)

The one on my wife's & the one I had before getting rid of it were both just fine. Being Apple they're over hyped, & overpriced, yet that's nothing new :)

My replacement came for the one that suffered from ghosting after about 1 minute. The new display is also an LG, and so far seems flawless.

Looked for faults (even though I didn't want to, and certainly didn't want to find any) and cant see anything!

I left this site up for half an hour on max brightness to check for any signs of ghosting and can't see any at all.

Hopefully this wasn't a problem that develops over time.

So far, very, very happy.

Mine came with a yellow screen.

I called Apple and they sent me a replacement. However, the replacement is just as yellow:

Third replacement came. The screens white point now has a gradient from top to bottom + at least one stuck pixel in the middle of the screen.

I'm asking for my money back

just got my replacement. another samsung. seems just as white but not as bright sitting side by side my first samsung. no other issues other then a very very small amount of light leak but I'm being very anal about it. not enough for me to it. I'm pleased

I was really, really hoping nobody was going to come along and say what you just said. Now this means that there is a chance that this is "not normal" and that there are screens that have shipped that don't do this.

Argh.

Mine is basically perfect. Most even lighting and darkest black I've seen on any display. It certainly beat the hell out of my pair of Dell U3011. Only 2 complaints about it that I have is that:

1. The viewing angles are pretty crap even though it's an IPS screen.
2. God damit Apple, glossy displays are annoying when there are lights behind me.

I'm just wondering, I had yellow 4S which I had to exchange many times to get a perfect white screen 4S.

Since Macs have ColorSync Utility, couldn't you just calibrate the display to make it cooler instead of returning it?

Not if the aberration has a gradient.

I said before that my screen was good but I have been lately noticing the screen being a little bit yellow more now. I tried to calibrate the screen as much as possible but it's not changing for the better. Other than that I have no faults after these past 5 days. Should I pay apple a visit and let them check it out or just let the problem be? My iPad 3 has really a good whiteness when I'm looking on it. And sure the screen is almost obvious when I'm using it during night time.

Just had a look in the local Apple Store - all the units they had out had LG displays and I would say the yellow tinge problem was less pronounced or absent compared to my Samsung display. I couldn't say whether the screens had an overall yellow tinge as I couldn't place them next to anything to compare, I can just say that they didn't have the yellow gradient on them them some people are experiencing.

Note - that's not to say all LG displays don't have the problem, or that all Samsung displays do as from the threads that's clearly not the case. Just that the LG display on my last one, and the LG displays out at the Apple Store were definitely superior to the Samsung display in my rMBP. All the displays were darker towards the bottom left of the screen, though.

i having yellow tint with my rmbp, still thinking wants to send for replacement or not =(

Arg, had mine for a week and loved it. Didn't want to be anal and look for trouble, but one these threads made me want to double check before my return date expires. Now I notice a bleed on the left, in full screen black, only really noticeable at full brightness. On a scale of 1 to 10, its probably a 2. Should I bother exchanging it? Can we return it to store and get the new ones in mail? I have the Samsung display, with a slight pinkish tint that doesn't really bother me.

^^^ wow that doesn't seem that bad.. I guess mine's really bad then. This is complete dark room with full brightness:

I have an LG as well with no yellow hue and perfect even backlight and no light bleed.

The previous display, apart from having 9 dead pixels, also had bad background bleed. Not sure which one it was as I didn't check and just returned it.

I have a question, how do you guys test for burn-in issues?

If you don't notice burn in during normal use then don't even bother with testing it.

I just posted in another thread the same thing but I left mine on for 5 hours full brightness and had no burn in. I did test it against my 11 MBP and it was def slightly yellow in comparison.

Oh well, not enough problem to draw concern.

Had to order a replacement today. Hopefully it arrives soon.

I´m 30 years old and I´ve seen MANY screens in my life. And I really think this picture shows a very even screen. I´d say there´s no bleed excisting. But maybe the picture doesn´t tell the truth....

Well maybe those 30 years have got the best of your eyes because it's clearly not "Even" lol. Since when is one side yellow and the other side pink considered "even"? The colors are also apparent on white webpages and grey web pages. You can see the color difference albeit very minor, but again when I payed close to $3800 for this computer I expect NOTHING but perfection. Plain and simple.
