STM has confirmed they are indeed redesigning their Skinny case for the new iPad. I used this with my iPad 2 and there's no doubt in my mind that this is the only case you need.

It's very thin and hardly adds any bulk. It protects the back unlike the Smart Cover and has magnets so it can do the sleep/wake thing just like the Smart Cover. Also, it can be used as a stand.

I have this. It adds minimal bulk, which is great. Nice texture for grip.

The problem is it appears to be cheaply made. The fabric is starting to fray around the edges. Mind, it is just cosmetic, I don't have a problem with overall durability. Then again, it didn't cost me very much, so there is that.

But the biggest problem is the tab. That tab drives me crazy. So much that I am looking for another case.

I am looking for something like the Skinny, but without that stupid tab. And maybe some sort of magnet solution to hold the cover in place when it is flipped back, like a magazine. The best I have found so far looks like the Magfolio or Magfolio Lounge from Speck. Anyone own them? I also looked at the Speakeasy Canvas, but it seems too bulky.

Any reason why so many people are going with the Incipio Lexington instead of the Incipio Smart Feather?

The Smart feather requires a smart cover for face protection.

Many people find the smart cover overpriced and didn't buy one.

In my case, I find it overpriced, cheap, flimsy, and poorly designed. Which is why I didn't buy one.

DOes no one plan on getting one of these Dodo Cases?

They just released their new designs today:

I'm currently looking for a case that offers full coverage on the back and front with a stand that supports the iPad in the landscape and portrait position. I would like for it to have the sleep/awake feature upon opening and closing (a smart cover) and I would prefer for it to be light weight and slim if possible. I'm also wanting to $60 and under. I'm sure that the likelihood of finding all of these features together are slim for what I'm willing to pay but I'm definetely on the lookout. I was told that the Targus Versavu fits the bill for the most part but I'm trying to continue looking at other cases before making a final decision. Does anyone know of or can recommend any other cases that might be close to what I'm looking for?

This whole case situation is just driving me batty. I've settled on an Apple Smart Cover + a handmade sleeve from Etsy. I'll wait a few months to see what the market is offering for cases that aren't guessing at the new specs.

Since I have no idea what cases will fit or not and the ones that I like the most aren't available yet, I hunted up a sleeve and picked up a messenger bag too.

I ordered the Roocase for a basic sleeve. It will be here Friday:

I was looking around tonight and found these by Wardmaster -

I'm feeling Wardmaster's style. The messenger bag is supposed to be leather. I hope the quality is there to match. I wanted my bag to look more like a purse and this is close for the price. Oh, I got the last silver envelope on Amazon, but it may be on other sites.

To be honest, the case situation has stressed me out way more than even buying the iPad itself, lol. Thankfully, I've found the case that I want so I'm just waiting to buy it once it's available in Best Buy or in their online store.

preordered the joy smartsuit3 case. wish it came out sooner, but it looks to be everything i've wanted in a case. had the yoobao case for my ipad 2 and it fell short in a few areas:

-flap would easily slip out of the notch when folded back
-very weak magnet in the flap (it would never stay closed)
-didn't think it would bother me before i got it, but the leather over the bezel is annoying.

although the yoobao did protect from scratches and had a great slim profile. hopefully the joy case will live up to the reviews i've been reading about previous versions.

So, the new iPad will be my first foray into the tablet market. Essentially, what I'm going to be using it for is:

* Lugging it back and forth to work for notes and writing (in and out of meetings)
* Writing on it at home
* Watching videos in bed (hands free, preferably well balanced)

Is there a solution that fits all of my needs? I'm driving myself mad.

I prefer the Apple keyboard due to its width, so most integrated cases are out, and I absent mindedly purchased the smart cover just because everyone seems to have one.

I don't really care what it looks like, and I don't care if I have to buy a business case/back-cover/stand. I'm just looking for some advice from someone who uses their iPad for writing at work (therefore something protective), front-end (simple) dev, and watching videos in bed.

Also, if it makes a difference, I'll probably end up buying a bag (like the amazon tablet bag...?)

I was looking at the zoogue...? (even though I have the smart cover?)

Flowfold

Has anybody tried the Flowfold sleeve (made from recycled sails) (http://www.flowfold.com/category/tablet-sleeves)? I'm an iPad n00b and long before I bought this iPad I've been drooling over these sleeves. Now, all this case discussion has utterly confused me  These looks really cool, are handmade, and environmentally friendly.
