which is better the incipio Smart feather or the Coverbuddy/nude from Switcheasy (assuming they update them once the new iPad comes out)

I like the smart feather better because of the transparency. The translucent mercury feather will look good with my dark gray smart cover.

If I install a film on the front and back will it bubble up? I have the ghost armor on my 2 and when I look at it where the film ends, dirt and grime build up; so i'm hopping this will stop most of the dirt from building up.

I think I'm going to go with the SGP leather diary case. Sleek and slim, and sgp usually makes good products.

I have no idea since I don't have the new iPad yet. :p

For original iPad, I used SwitchEasy NUDE with Kensington Reversible Netbook Sleeve.

For iPad 2, I used Apple Smart Cover exclusively. The back of iPad easily scratched and Smart Cover sometimes left marks (easily removable) on the side of iPad where the magnets attached and the hinges swiveled.

For new iPad (March 2012, 3rd third revision), I'm considering SwitchEasy CANVAS or Yoobao Smart Executive Leather Folio Case. The Incipio Lexington looks like it could compete well, but I really like that SwitchEasy includes port covers with most of its cases. In the interim, as cases become available, I intend to use Kensington Reversible Netbook Sleeve. Kensington Reversible Netbook Sleeve is super cheap and could serve as a good solution while new cases come out.

I've been looking at these iPad cases, and it seems as though 90% of them are the snap-in hard shell case.

I got one of these for the iPad 2, and after using it this long, really would rather get something that encloses the iPad on all sides.

The best (and so far, ONLY) example of what I'm looking for is the the Marware EcoVue (http://www.marware.com/ecovue-case-for-the-new-ipad)

The hand strap in back is a very useful feature, and if carbon fiber is available (it isn't for the EcoVue), that would be a nice bonus.

Anyone seen such a case for the new model?

How are apple stores and/or premium resellers in terms of playing with covers? My local apple store has a ton on the wall, but you really need to try them out, see how they feel in the hand, see how they open/close/secure.

Thanks for the info. My Husband has the Targus iPad 2 case, and I find it far too heavy, almost doubles the weight of the device. I was hoping this newer Slim case would be lighter.:(
I have used the Yoobao and Chinao cases, which are both feather-light and resemble the original iPad 1 Apple case. I might wait for these, and then decide.
Or, this one, by Envellop, that another poster mentioned, also looks interesting:

I ordered the Invellop. I received the below email from the company:

"Thank you for showing interest in buying one of our cases. The iPad 3 or "The new iPad" is slightly thicker it is only 0.6mm thicker then the iPad 2. We have not checked the case on the iPad 3 sense it will only come out on March 16th, BUT we have checked it on the iPad 2 with putting a cardboard (about 1mm thickness) on the back of the ipad 2 and the case still fit perfectly. So, that is why we assume it will fit perfectly "The new iPad". About the camera being a little bit larger then on ipad 2, it is also less then a mm larger then on ipad 2 and our case has about 2mm of free space around the camera.
If by any chance this case will not fit properly we always accept returns."

I'll probably wait to see what Speck has in store. I liked their FitFolio case for iPad 2 so hoping they have something similar for this new iPad.

I'm interested to see how they fit although I'm actuall8y pissed at myself for posting that thread as the guy who's selling it jacked up the price on everyone from the normal 14.99 he was selling it at. If I had known that I wouldn't have posted just so he didn't get business. Not a fan of that at all.

I hate these kind of cases personally. You might as well put it in a suitcase. It just ruins the slick look of the ipad. There are better ways to cover the front and back without looking like a briefcase.

I just received the Waterfield Ultimate sleeve.
http://sfbags.com/products/ipad-cases/sleevecases-ipad.php

It looked nice on the website but in person it's amazing. The quality of the materials and build is the best I've ever seen. I was hesitant getting it due to the price but now that I've held it I have no regrets.

Waiting for the Lexington to arrive to see if it fits.

I'm concerned about the flap like everyone else. I'd have preferred it came with a magnetic flap.

Oberon Design makes the only iPad cover I will buy

I've tried several cases and none hold a candle to the Oberon Design iPad case. Extremely beautiful, well made, and secure. I bought the Roof of Heaven in Marigold for my iPad 1, the Paisley in Purple for my iPad 2, and I'm currently perusing to see what case I want for my iPad 3 (I'm handing down the 2, so the case will go with it).

I also have all my Kindles dressed in Oberon, and two checkbooks as well.

All products are handmade, and all made in the US.

Has anyone tried the oberon ipad covers? I like the leather, but am uncertain about the rest of the design.

Yes, they are fantastic. I have 3 iPad covers, 4 Kindle covers, 2 checkbooks and an iPhone case. It's a little bit of an obsession. ;)
