i suspect after the last generation launches with overly generous reviews, they are now really swinging in the opposite direction just to compensate (didn't some review perfect dark zero with 9.0 etc. ?)

personally i hope for a broader use of the review spectrum instead of the usual 7.0 to 9.8 which is actually used for 95% of all games ;)

Knack got a 5.9

My pre-order on Amazon went from "Not Yet Shipped" to "Shipping Soon". OK, now I'm officially excited. :)

The reviews mirror my feelings on Knack since the first reveal, and also after I played it at the IFA in September. I'm glad Killzone turned out good though.

Oddly enough though, the most interesting titles for me I wouldn't have to pay money for: Resogun & Contrast are free through Plus, and Flower since I already own it. :D

Still gonna wait though, those games are not enough for me to drop the money and start neglecting my PS3 just yet!

I'm getting a feeling that game sites <tin foil hat on> are down playing games like COD, BF4 and Killzone SF in anticipation for Titanfall. The game reminds me so much of COD and MAG its strange and I have a feeling its going to be praised for things these titles have been doing for years <Tine foil hat off>

I've always like the story of KZ so I'll be picking that up along with AC4 and the rest will be those sweet PSN Plus games: Resogun, Contrast.

Bless

Unfortunate for Knack, was really hoping it would get scores in the 70s-80s so that way I can convince myself to keep the game.

50s is too low to waste my 2 for 1 on amazon. So I had to swap it for Battlefield 4.

Very surprised with the Killzone score on Metacritic. Thought for sure it would be in the mid 80s like Killzone 2 and 3.

So who is getting one tomorrow?

I am :) I am just hoping I can get home in time for the delivery. Has anyone ordered a console from Amazon? UPS is delivering I dont see a signature required on the shipping but i'm not sure. Do you know if you have to sign for it from Amazon?

Went to go chill with my buddy in line so he could get one...but I ended up getting one too :D

Just played a few games of NBA 2K14 and the graphics are just beautiful!

which is my point
if a game is average it should get average scores and not some 8.5 scores just because game journalists only give scores 7.0 or up

I've always wondered how objective some reviewers/magazines/sites are, given that they rely heavily on advertisements by the companies they review (and not independent subscribers, or revenues generated by subscriptions).

It seems to be that there has been "rating inflation" over the last several years, but that may just be me.

Amazon rarely if ever requires signature, its amazing to me that they don't lose more money off of packages that walk away. They left a $1400 item in the original box sitting on my porch for hours since they didn't require a signature...

UPS says mine is out for delivery, I'm gonna head to GameStop and pick up my preorder games around 10.

Anyone brave it to the stores today? How was initial supply?

I got one this morning at Target. They had 6 unreserved systems and only 3 extra controllers. Even though they were selling games buy 2 get 1 free, they were incredibly limited in which games they actually had.

I grabbed the console, extra controller, and three games (COD: Ghosts, Madden, and AC: IV)

I was at Gamestop last night to avoid the rush and didn't think there would be anyone because of only having pre-orders.

Boy I was wrong. At 6:00 they had a big line as GS figured out how many extras they had, and they had a lot. They were making people pre-pay and told them to come back anytime Friday starting at Midnight.

While I was looking, they came up to me and asked if I wanted one, as everyone in the line had already been helped.

Looks like there are a bunch of extras that should last at least throughout most of today.

Personally I'm glad im not an early adopter. Apparently a lot of these are shipping DOA with flashing blue lights. Just from reading my Twitter timeline there's a lot of angry gamers whingeing about broken machines straight out of the box. There's a couple of threads on the issue on other gaming forums. Some people are saying the failure rate could be close to 40% based on anecdotal evidence.

Most of the 1 star reviews on Amazon are complaints of DOA systems and this is all on the launch day! There is alot of em!

I'm not sure why people are surprised of Sony failure rates. When I was younger I worked for years in electronics retail so this isn't new to me. Sony stuff always got returned.

That being said I sympathize with those affected. It completely sucks getting some new toy and not being able to use it. (I remember when I got a Sega Saturn for Christmas and couldn't use it because my parents didn't get the RF Adapter).

Sony said the failure rate is like 0.4 % so don't know where these people are getting 40% from. I still have a fatty launch ps3 that works perfectly to this day.

Well its early days yet, some people are still trying to get through to Sony. I'm sure we'll get a better picture of the failure rate in coming days or weeks. It wasn't until they did a redesign of the chips that the machine became very reliable enough.

But going back a few years. Remember Microsoft tried to play down the whole RROD issue and never revealed with the exact failure rate for the early model 360s. It wasn't until they had a redesign of the chips that the machine became reliable enough.
