Yeah ms said the same thing, it's a small number.

Yeah. Right.

i think at least waiting 2 weeks should give the complete picture... obviously those with not working consoles will output feedback first, while others are happy playing at home ... and with 1 million sold within 24 hours you will get a lot of feedback
even with 2000-3000 bricked consoles that amounts to 0.2-0.3%

also you will have to factor in the usual butterfingers customers (pulling plug while updating firmware, jamming in connectors wrong, customers using defective adapters etc.)

OT:
my sister has been selling TVs the last few years and you wouldn't believe how many people break their stuff just setting it up at home
my favorite story: accidentally drilling into the TV panel from the back while trying to fit a self-made mount

I bought mine on launch day through Amazon and it currently says "Shipping Now". I have yet to decide if I'm going to sell it for profit or keep it... Hmm decisions decisions.:confused:

I don't think there will be a "shortage" like with past gens. Either keep it or return it, I've seen the same ads on CL and when you look at sleazebay look at completed not active.

Logically think about it, if you can get one so can others....

I just checked eBay. They're now selling for around $550 less 13% for eBay/PayPal fees... On launch day they were selling for $720+! Looks like I'll be holding on to it after all.

Make it available in Europe and you might pick up a few extra dollars from impatient people.

With Regard to shortages;
I was at my local Game store (UK) on Saturday trading in a few games ready for launch day and the customer on the next till asked to pre order the PS4 for launch day. The Game employee laughed and said we are guaranteeing orders placed now for February.

I got $750 cash on CL today for my opened one.

If you know where to look it should be a cinch to get one this month. Game (and most high street stores in general tbh) tend to overstate things.

Yeah I know that's normally the case.

I'm fine though, I got my pre order down as soon as they were made available in store. I felt really smug listening to the employee saying it though :D

argh... looks like amazon.de has already shipped my special edition copy of AC4 for the PS4... a full week ahead of the console

having the game sitting at home without the console sure feels weird

It gives you a week to build a little shrine :p

Or, put it in your PS3 and instead play the YouTube video of it, while pretending with your PS3 Controller (or the PS4 one if you got one already)...

I know, we are a sick bunch... ;)

well my work colleagues also thought that "forward compatibility" should be a feature for consoles:"put the blu ray into the old console -> low res version, put into new one-> full detail version"

and also offering (teasing) advice: "looks like you have missed that patch which enabled that"

Believe it or not, this has been done. Due to the way Nintendo programmed their 3D engines on the GameCube, textures were automatically uprezzed with better framerates when a GC game was played on a Wii. In particular, Metroid Prime looks incredible on a Wii.

But, the current drive isn't to make better games, or better systems, it's to make better profits. So, we probably won't see any focus on backwards compatibility, forwards compatibility, or proper value per dollar on game content.

Not convinced. Amazon, who surely have the biggest stock allocation, are now saying that orders placed after Nov 14th won't ship until January. I can totally believe that GAME are looking at February, as they have never had ridiculously large numbers of units for each store on any console launch. It'll be a case of dribbling units to allocated pre-orders as they come in.

There will be unallocated units on Friday at various places (superstores are a good place to try), but I expect supply to dry up quickly and only be more available in Feb/March.

orders after November the 14th in january ? amazon.de:

Alle Vorbestellungen, die nach dem 30. September 2013 erfolgen, werden voraussichtlich erst nach Weihnachten, spätestens aber bis Ende Januar 2014 ausgeliefert.

"All preorders after the 30th September will be shipped&delivered after Christmas but before the end of January 2014"

and also "Pre-Orders between 20th august and 30th september will be shipped & delivered before christmas if possible"

i'm getting a PS2 craziness vide already. Around here in central europe the hype is ridiculously lopsided in favor of sony.. i suspect we well see them breaking the 1million sales in 24h in Europe

Recieved Fifa 14 for PS4 from Argos UK today.

Why must they tease me?

Same here, got my copy of FIFA 14 today. I ordered the PS4 & Killzone bundle at the end of September and Amazon's saying it'll arrive on launch day (fingers crossed), although my copy of FIFA 14 was late due to the weekend (it should've come on Friday but arrived on Monday.) My PS4 is probably at this warehouse where Amazon has stored it since last Friday, and it seems a bit ridiculous that I can't have it since I live less than 15 minutes away from it!

The same with Wii games on the U. But that's actually called downward compatibility. ;)

Forward would come in handy as well though..

Amazon UK:

It says after Christmas, but seeing as the postal service shuts down across Christmas and New Year, they're all but stating January. I can easily imagine this slipping further in the next few weeks as well.

ugh, reading one's own comments is always so.....for clarity's sake:
I'm sure Takao ('s colleague) meant old consoles being forward compatible. :)
