standing orderly in line to wait for a new product ? if only ...

first videos coming in on how the 'sale' of the non preordered stock is happening around here:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N6z5VP76Otw

The correct words would be "wild horde" or "herd of buffalos"

i remember pickup up my pre-ordered Wii on launch morning in the very same store... hilarious

PSN struggling with demand !!!!

God damn !!! PSN is burnt !!!!!

Took forever attempts to sign in with my ID

Can barely download anything with error codes all the time because of their servers being hit so badly.

Even the online store from desktop / laptop is struggling to stay afloat.

At least the patch downloaded fast for me and reso-gun installed quickly.

Don't you love it when Life mimics Pandemonium?

;)

Around here, tickets are handed out in line for the amount on they received, and they are told to return later and the units are handed out at the checkout counter after payment (not sitting on some shelf).

Thanks for posting this - it was a laugh.

After waiting so long, it turned up at 3PM, only for me to discover that PSN has absolutely crashed. I've been waiting since it turned up to sign in, it's stuck on the 'please wait' screen. It managed to get past that stage once, but then it came up with the 'about your psn' account window before an error message appeared. Not good enough Sony, you anticipated how much demand there would be, yet you pretty much failed to deliver.

Happened me too, but you do eventually get there.

I've got all my games installed and downloaded escape plan, trine 2, resogun and contrast.

Must say everyone please buy Trine 2 if you want a game to show off how pretty a PS4 game can be. It's leaps and bounds prettier than ANY other version of the game and it runs 1080p 60fps even in 3D. And in 3D it's OMG stunning.

Haven't played any of my actual bought retail games yet. They've all updated themselves.

So far so good, except....... Voice commands via PS4 Camera are *****.

Yeah it's seriously stunning. The level of detail is mind blowing and there is a little discount if your a PS plus member.

The game that will most likely be utterly ignored as it's been on every other format and here in its most beautiful it will likely slip by everyone.

The resident newbie has another question! :D

On the back of my game cases there's an icon that looks like a globe with the number 4. That looks suspiciously like a region code (NZ is DVD region 4) but I thought that PS4 games were region-free. Or does the 4 just mean PS4 and I'm reading too much into it?

Yeah mine all have 2 which is same as Bly-Ray region.

Could be same as PS3 that games will work in all regions but films won't, but for packaging purposes they still utilise the same blu-ray region listing.

There are still regions. Its just that the PS4 is region free. Don't worry about it. :)

Yep... From Sony

Do PS4 games have regional locks?
In general, neither digital nor disc-based games will be region locked, but PlayStation recommends that all users purchase games at the region of their residence to guarantee the best overall experience and customer service. In certain instances, a software publisher may choose to region lock a game title for specific reasons, but Sony Computer Entertainment expects these instances to be uncommon.

It just seems strange to include a "region 4" icon when/if the game isn't actually region locked in the first place. From the limited examples I've seen (just me and MRU!) it looks like they're based on DVD regions, not Blu-ray (BR regions are A/B/C, not numbers, and EU/NZ are the same Blu-ray region).

I don't know, most people are saying that but for me they work perfectly (and I'm not even a native english speaker of course, but I am bilingual anyway).
I just found out in the middle of a Killzone online match that I can make it take screenshots and all times it did take them.
The only gripe is turning off the console, I have to repeat the command to do so, almost always.

Calm down a few hours of downtime is not the end of the world. I guess it's normalized now, as I was able to play online a few hours ago without problem and share to twitter and stuff.

Are we talking PS4 games?
Both Killzone and Knack show the globe with "ALL" (I always import from Amazon so I guess in US, games state "ALL" regions).

Yep, PS4 games. Assassin's Creed NZ, and Killzone NZ (which appears to actually be from Australia because it has the Aussie rating printed on the case with the NZ sticker over the top). Both have the globe with "4". Yours say "ALL"? Interesting...

Must be one of those "must comply with some regulation no end-user gives a damn about" type of thingy.

i checked the single game i have and on the back of the disc there is the "Globe 2" Symbol. But the symbol (or any other region coding info) isn't printed on the disc so it really might be just for regulation.
On the plus side i found "Made in Austria" printed on the disc really really tiny... for once something isn't flown across the globe.

on the negative side: in today's newspaper there was an article about brawlings & injuries in some of the major electronic retailers over the console. In one store the gates were damaged because 200 people were trying to get inside before the gate was raised completely. for those 200 only 15 consoles were available as free stock since all others were preordered.

There's no region code icon on the discs themselves for me either so yeah, we're probably OK. Mine are made in Austria too!

PSN issues sorted? Going to pick up my machine in about an hour :D

Also those who have it, COD Ghosts- worth it?

Basically....

If you like the previous COD games - moreover the multiplayer - then yes.

If you already have it on another format - no - possibly upgrade instead.

If you are looking to be converted to COD series having failed to be interested before then no.

If you are looking for a decent Single Player campaign only and not really interested in multiplayer gaming - no.

and yep.... PSN seems to be alright today :)

Skylanders Swap Force is beautiful on next gen.......

Stunning and it's just so much fun.. My 58 Characters have never looked better :)

Alongside Mario World 3D and Wind Waker HD - the colour and vibrancy of these recent titles are a real antidote to the dowdy, grimy, grey, washed out, desaturated, ultra violent games of recent.

I tried to watch a Blu-ray last night, which was an exercise in patience due to the controller design; an accidental bump of the controller actuates L2/R2 and makes the movie zoom ahead or skip back. Does anyone know whether it's possible to remap the rewind/fastforward buttons?

In other news, does anyone know how to tell the system that we're in daylight saving? If I get the system to set the time over the Internet then it's an hour slow. In the interim I've set the clock manually but that stops Music Unlimited from working.

Edit: It seems to actually be a bug; if I change the timezone to Sydney then a DST option appears, but it vanishes again when I pick NZ.

Well I grabbed the demo and played it in 3D… and it really looks fantastic! (But this was my first time with 3D gaming).

PSN seems to be easing up a bit, hopefully Sony uses the PS+ money to improve their servers. I was waiting for a long, long time to log in on launch day though! I can't wait to see what the future has in store; this console seems to be built for it.

Do any of you have a PlayStation Camera? As it's £45 (basically the cost of a game) would you buy it or wait?

Yeah, I have the camera as I got the mega pack. If it wasn't for the cost saving buying the bundle I wouldn't recommend it at the moment. I'd wait ......

Yeah it's probably the nicest executed 3D game I've played. In the past they can suffer with dropped frames / resolution drops etc, but here the game retains all its beauty resolution and framerate and if anything looks better in 3D :)
