I don't see Sony bothering with the resources and effort needed at this point. Better to put it towards the PS5.

Probably a price drop at least to $299 like the XBox One X which would be a great deal.
 
Incidentally, Rutter assures me that “a great deal of effort” has gone into making sure the PS5 will be less noisy.

I'll be honest. I like the design, a lot actually. I am glad that they decided to give the console some character, rather than just another plastic box with ports, and a glowing light or two. I really dig the controllers design as well, similar to what we have had over the years, but with a fresh take.

Some of the more art focused games look pretty interesting, as does the new Resident Evil. I did smile from ear to ear when sackboy popped up. The Little Big Planet games were a ton of fun.

I was annoyed when the event started, and we see the Rockstar logo, hyped a wee bit I thought we'd get a tease for the next entry in the Grand Theft Auto series but NOPE! Here's bloody GTAV again. Seriously Rockstar? Are you in some sort of "beat a dead horse competition" with Bethesda or Blizzard? Let it go already.

I was seriously hoping to see some more from Square Enix such as something in the realm of a new Final Fantasy tease or something more in the Mana series, but I can wait on that. I was also kind of bummed that we don't have anything for Twisted Metal, as the ORIGINAL entry in that franchise is what sold me on the original PlayStation coming from a Sega Genesis.

With all this said, I plan on pre-ordering the console, and it will be the first time I ever do that, as with previous generations I just kind of waited a little bit for buying one.

Funny thing is, I've never played GTA 5, so I feel honored they are trying so hard to make me play it. ;-)

Good thing on the PS5 being so large, is that it makes me believe they put an effort in the cooling. Air needs to be able to flow through the machine and larger fans are usually not as noisy since they can rotate slower to move around the same amount of air.

I really like the design, but like many people, I do hope they'll release a black version. Ow, and I'll be buying the disk version. Got a lot of PS4 games I still need to finish. Then again, as I write this, I'm thinking going digital and just keep the PS4. Hmm, what to do...

I like the design (would prefer an all black/dark-gray, shiny & matte contrast) though.

Depending on the games, i might wait for a "slim" version. Although "Squadrons"..... hmm
 
360 Audio in the headphones ... I'm REALLY excited for this.
Action Games, F1 / Gran Turismo car sounds, and although I'm not a fan of crapping my pants from horror type games, you know you're doing to need a psychiatrist sooner or later.

Playstation VR will be compatible at launch with it's external box but a new one is rumoured where it'll tap on your head to help with spatial disorientation that typical VR causing virtual motion sickness for some people.

honestly this PS5 design reminds me a lot of the curves of the PS3, yet new.

the size comparisons' done by kiddies on reddit does not have me convinced. eye-balling looks to be less than 2+1/4 the size of CD's side by side. about 2 CD's without the vertical stand. Also we have no idea IF the Blu-Ray tray is slightly slanted off centre when looking at it in the press pics ... aka like a / vs "I" (direct).

Others may prefer the Xbox and their games. Only Halo interests me on that platform, nothing else.

Metal Gear Solid (I still have to play the last 2 iterations),
Gran Turismo (weeks and weeks of fun)
Ratchet & Clank ... R.Y.N.O (Rip Ya a New One lol, can't recall which game that was in lol).
SackBoy ... yes!!
Final Fantasy.
- the upcoming Samurai game, name escapes me right now but THAT looks awesome!
etc.

The key for me, is the controller basics. I've played Atari 2600, Karateka on Apple ][e /c, CollecoVision, IntelliVision, NES, SNES, N64, NGameCube, Sega Genesis, Sega Saturn (for a week), PS1, PS2, and PS3. I grew up on Arcade games like: Asteroids (YES the OG), Sprint (4 player), Centipede, Galaga, Dragon's Layer, Cyber Cycle, Mortal Kombat 1 & 2, Killer Instinct 1 & 2, etc. Of them ALL the Playstation controllers have been THE best to fit in the hands, the best natural by human finger/thumb mechanics.

Specs have been long know for a while now ... just ports we're not fully aware of beyond 1x USB-C + 1x USB3.2 in the front.

Since Playstation 2 Sony has always released custom limited edition colour ways of their consoles, slim or otherwise. So don't you worry you'll be in for a treat. I think RGB lighting will also come with colour ways as well.

Here is a shot Comparison of my PS4 Pro versus my Xbox One X. The PS4 Pro is oddly unwieldy and weighty in towards the lateral back half. However, it’s extremely quiet compared to the standard PS4 that sounds like a jet engine running various games like GTA V, Metal gear, etc. So if anyone’s ‘disappointed’ by the size the PS4 Pro, then you might as well lower your expectation for the PS5.

That isn't new. They've had surround sound/360 headphones for ages. I have a set from the PS3 that are supposed to be 7.1, and they actually do a decent job of fooling you into believing sound is coming from multiple directions in some games. This new headset (and it let's be clear, it only works with that specific headset) looks to be more of the same.

They also used the USB-ports for reference, those are always the same size so I expect their estimates to be accurate. The PS5 is a big MoFo.

I hope Sony has a developer workin gon a must have game for the PS5 launch day that is as yet unannounced.
I say this because the event, though good, didn't have a must have console selling game.
I don't know if this is in the works but I really hope it is.
 
If it launches with Demon's Souls I'll buy it day one but I just really, really, really dislike the look of this thing. I do give them credit for at least making a wild and interesting console design though. It's just not for me personally.
And I'll have to get the even uglier Blu-Ray disc version since I want to play my PS4 games on it.

You wonder how much extra it costs just to put it in a fancy box...

And people make fun of Microsoft for just using plain-old case...
 
I hope a black version is released. While white is okay, I think I prefer the black mockups better, especially for the controller.
 
They've confirmed the PS5 will be customisable like no other console before and that they're going to release special editions so fingers crossed for the all black one.
 
The PS5 briefly showed up on the French Amazon website with a release date set on Nov 20th and prices were €499 and €399 for the Digital Only version. That's the price including 20% sales tax. So for all you Americans that would become something in the range of $449 and $359 without taxes.

Those prices would be so awesome if they ever announced that. I have a feeling it's gonna be more expensive that I originally thought. My first predictions were $499 Disc, $399 digital.
 
499/399 sound exactly like the prices I'm expecting. 399 Euros is what the PS4 launched with originally and later the PS4 Pro used to retail for around these parts. Seems to have been a sweet spot for Sony for this entire generation.

The govt's Corona stimulus package contains a reduction of VAT from 19% to 16%. Will be interesting to see if that is going to be reflected in the console price. ............... 🤔
