A confirmed tidbit: DualShock 4 controllers won't work for PS5-games, so it's only for working away that backlog and keeping that DualSense shiny and new.

Yeah....saw that. Hopefully that means more devs will take advantage of the haptic feedback of the DualSense.

I don't mind this. Now I'll have a dedicated controller for my iPad, Mac, and Apple TV. Just missing one for the iPhone lol.

I don’t think I’m going to pre-order, because I don’t think it really is necessary. I should be able to find one on launch day, and given the economic state of things right now, I think they should be widely available. However, the holidays should be interesting for net sales with tech in general.

I'd love to get the all-digital PS5 but it won't be able to play my PS4 discs so I'm stuck getting the uglier version of the system.

Certainly not uglier and if you have access to a few ps4 titles then Disc based is sensible.
I'm hoping ps5 digi doesn't drop any quality which is my only X box S series concern.
Though seems ps5 is to be invitation only at 1st -I'll miss this.
Launch dates from Sony+Microsoft could be a decider.

In my opinion the PS5 Disc version is very ugly. I'm still getting it though hah, but it looks like they designed the digital version first and then made the disc version as an afterthought.
I believe the PS5 digital won't have any drop in quality or any noticeable difference other than being cheaper and not having the ability to play Blu-ray Discs.
Either way, going to be an interesting next few months!

Basically if you trade in games or buy used games you need to buy a version with disk

I usually buy a game a few weeks after they come out for 20 bucks less than new offline. Then I resell it for around the same price.

other than Sports games, GTA and shooters what action game do you play after you beat it?

unless digital games start being cheaper than disk which they should be then disk is the way to go. Amazon the week before a game comes out sells it for $50 (10 off)

a month or 2 later it’s $30-40. The digital version on the ps store $60

Sony is going to announce their new line of Full-Frame Compact E-mount Cameras in a week or two....

That and the PS5, for this Holiday Season... Sony's been "killin' it".....

(sheds a tear for Olympus and Micro Four Thirds)...

I'm going to have to sell a kidney...

I'm kinda stoked about The Witcher 3 getting a PS5 remaster. I never played it on PS4. Between this and Cyberpunk I'll be spending alot of time with CDPR games on PS5.

I used to do that too. Also I liked being able to give the game away to someone.

Unfortunately after I put the SSD in the ps4, full digital was just too fast to go back to disc. To save $10-20 but wait an extra 20 seconds to load every time I launched a game no longer seemed worth it.

Looking forward to today's anticipated PS5 pricing and release date announcement. Today is the 25-year anniversary since the first PS was introduced.

Edited: I don't know how reliable Gamespot is, but it's saying no PS5 updates this week, only games and PSVR.

I have bought the odd game from the PSN store when there‘s been a very good sale. More often than not the disparity in price between a used copy on eBay and a digital copy of a 12-18 month old game is disgusting.

One time I bought a game on eBay for £5 which was £50 in the PSN store bundled with a DLC pack which I had zero interest in.

In the long run I believe that games will become cheaper or offered in subscription. Netflix, Disney and Spotify demonstrate that you can achieve a big number of paying subscribers if the price is right.

However, if a game is good then I will happily support developers and pay full price. I don’t want to be too stingy and push more developers towards freemium models.

developers only get $20-30 for a new game. It cost money to market, make a disk ..... the store gets a big cut of it....

I am fine if games go all digital but prices go down. Not Prices go up $10, you can't resell, you lose the game if it leaves the store..... I don't think the PS store has Madden 2017 that you might have gotten digitally.

All sports games should be subscription based. $35 and update annually. These games are glorified roster updates.

That didn't happen with books will will unlikely be the case for games. Today games, especially online ones are significantly more expensive to develop and support for with updates, bug fixes and enhancements for 2-4 years after release.

Some games that are cheap or free, rely on a gamified freemium model to afford the salaries of very expensive developers.

It seems we will get some answers next week.

Playstation store has frequent sales every 2 weeks, with great discounts. I've bought many games online there for 20€ and less.

Last one was RE2 for 20€. I do wait more than 6 months however after the game has been released. Got too many games still to be played, so I can wait. I'm in no hurry. I take time to complete a game and that way after many sales the game comes down in price.
