The problem I’m seeing right now, is GameStops in my area are officially closed, so I’m curious to see what other stores can actually offer in-store preorders Besides Best Buy and Target. Because come launch day, that’s the only main competition in my area with preorder choices, which is very limited.

I'm guessing in the beginning, all physical stores are going to do pickup only for the hot consoles or you will have royal rumbles by the shelf space for them.

Very interesting. I've bought several Xbox digital titles from Amazon, Best Buy, etc. and assumed Sony had the same kind of support for digital retailers. For a long time, Amazon would let you use your slow-shipping digital credits to purchase Xbox digital games. You can probably imagine how I got hooked on that! :p

Ya I saw that too. I'm still hopeful, but like others am not counting on it.

Would be smart of Apple to try and get on the PS5. I know they're starting to get on some other platforms. Feels like Sony is their logical choice if they were to venture into consoles.

I'd also love to see AirPlay 2 on the PS5 so you can stream audio to other speakers, but doubt we'll see that anytime soon...

Don't rule it out. If Apple wants Apple TV+ to grow and sell more movies through iTunes, they will need to become available on more media streamers.

I did laugh at that comment. Legit funny.

Back in reality though, Apple is not going back into the console market. After their non attempt at it in the 1990's I don't see them trying ever again. Be it an Apple made console or someone elses which Apple latches onto. Totally not going to happen. Gaming is not in Apple's DNA. Providing the tools for gamers to make their games however is in Apple's DNA and has been for quite a while now. Metal and some of their SDKs and API kits are used for iOS development. Though even those are overshadowed by unreal, unity and proprietary engines like iD Tech etc etc.

I wasn't saying Apple should make a console. I said they should put the Apple Music app on a console like they have with Sonos, Android, Amazon, and Windows.
 
I pre ordered a PS5 last week from Target. I am been a life long Playstation fan so it was an easy decision. They have more of the exclusive games I am into like Spider Man, Last of Us, God of War etc. I may pick up a Xbox Series S later on sometime next year (2021).

I may or may not have just pre-ordered a PS5. The store's website was a total mess. I went through the process, but I have not received a confirmation email yet.

Well, it turns out that, with all the website crashes, errors and reloads, I actually accidentally pre-ordered TWO of them!🤣

I am worry of pre preordering from Gamestop. First, if you haven't hear they are pretty terrible to work for and two a lot of their store are closing. A friend lost his friend order from a local Gamestop and now he has to be on the hunt for another. Doesn't surprise me their website was a mess lol.
 
I got a pre-order today through GameStop against my better judgement.
  • I don't like supporting GameStop.
  • I don't like supporting the business practice of bundling consoles with a bunch of other product.
  • The bundle will ship on the 30th, not launch day.
I don't need the second controller, PS+, or Demon's Souls. Here's hoping I can secure a better pre-order elsewhere and cancel this one.

Gamestop is the worst. I had forgotten about the bundles they push on you.
 
haha yea... It's like ok I'm willing to do the bundle that comes with Spiderman even if they want to do the special edition one. That is 20 more

but their bundles are like 800 with $300 worth of stuff I don't want.
 
Anyone actually excited about Destruction All Stars?

To me, it looks like a bright and flashy game that nobody asked for...

I was actually willing to support GameStop for a pre-order, but they closed all the stores in my area, which inevitably would happen given the companies current standing. Anyways, that’s interesting that the bundle will ship the 30th, I suspect you probably won’t find anything prior to that date any time sooner, unless somebody has a cancellation or extra units, But I’d probably stick with the bundle.

Best Buy is bad too. I've done console releases with them (well, I didn't, but friends did) since the Xbox 360 came out. PS3, Wii, PS4, Xbox One... Each and every time I've seen managers at the stores take consoles that were preordered and bundle them in expensive packages and claim the consoles never came in. The fun part was that the bundles counted as one item... you couldn't just return the things you didn't want. I expect the same thing this time.

I'm feeling more and more lucky that I got a preorder for just the system. Now I've jinxed myself and my order will be delayed for certain.

Please keep in mind that people with pre-orders at their local GS which unexpectedly closed have lost both the pre-order and their downpayments... hopefully you used a CC where you can dispute the charge.
