Some more PS5 details:
-PS5 games cannot be moved and temporarily stored on an external hard drive.
-Astro's playroom with it high usage of Dual Sense drains the controller battery in 2-4hours. However haptic feedback and adaptive triggers can be switched off to preserve battery.

Source?

I thought I just read that external storage works right away. Only internal storage extension is not activated at launch.

PS4 games can be stored and run off an external harddrive. PS5 games cannot be moved to an external harddrive.

On the missing quick resume feature; I would love to see it, but when you see those loading times on Spider-Man from a cold boot: it’s not that you’re losing loads of game time. I get both MS & Sony though. One choosing to give players the feature, and the other saving up precious SSD space.

Not all games will load as quickly as Spiderman, especially open world third party games.

I haven't played Miles Morales but have seen that it has lots of cuts scenes. I don't know whether they are skippable or if the console is using them to disguise loading.

Read Dead Redemption takes 1m 5sec to load on either the Series X or PS5. Quick resume allows you to return to exactly where you left off in 5 seconds without having to navigate any game menus.

Basically if you have 4 game, you don't have to worry about loading anytime you want to play. You can quickly get into the game.

This is also handy if you want to do remote play and casually play the odd platform game on your phone.

Quick resume has a minimal storage penalty.

PS5: 825GB
Usable storage: 667GB
-158GB

Series S: 512GB
Usable storage: 364GB
-157GB

Series X: 1000GB
Usable space: 825GB
-175GB

I missed out on the first batch of preorders, and then got a bundle deal from GameStop that "ships by November 30th." Unfortunately yesterday my bank blocked a payment and I had to report it as approved, so I hope GameStop tries to charge me again soon and it doesn't delay my delivery.

I do plan to try buying online from WalMart on Thursday, and if successful, I'll cancel my GS preorder. I don't want everything that comes in the bundle.

I learned today that PS5 continuously records the last hour of gameplay in 1080p, so that's a chunk of that unusable storage.

Any of you all pre order from Target in the U.S? I pre ordered on Sept 17th and I did get a pending charge on my card late last week. But it seems loads of people have the same delivery window of Nov 13th-18th and here is is the 9th and no one has any solid delivery date. Every other retailer has given costumers a solid delivery day or time for in sore pick up. Target has been vague for weeks. First and last time I will be pre ordering any console or high end tech from Target.

I ordered from WalMart (shudder) and they're no better. It just says "preparing order" and "Arrives by Thu, Nov 12". No charge on my card yet.

Anyone here have a PS5 expected to be delivered on release day? I want to know who to be super jealous of. Fingers crossed I can put an order in for one from Walmart's site on Thursday. Apparently they're selling a batch at 12pm, 3pm, 6pm, and 9pm.

My Amazon order says delivery Thursday by 8PM :). I'm glad it's Amazon who delivers now, though. When the PS4 came out I had to wait for UPS and the guy came at 9 at night because i'm at the end of their route. Amazon will hae it to me before 5PM most likely.

I'm happy for you guys getting your PS5 in a couple of days, it's a week later for me, but at least I can spam you guys to test stuff for me 🙃

For example: does the PS5 support two external HDD's for PS4 games or is it limited like the PS4. I've googled but haven't found an answer just yet...

I like getting games used so much cheaper. Honestly the free 20 ps4 games is what I am most excited about.

cyberpunk and FIFA get PS5 upgrades for free and will have those as well.

only launch title I want is Spider-Man Miles Morales. I just don’t think it’s work $50 and def not worth $70 with the old game. I have the game of the year edition of Spider-Man on ps4 for $5. Annoyed Sony just didn’t upgrade it.

maybe get call of duty as well.

tho right now a Ps5 is like an iPhone 12. Same thing as the last one + 1 game changer that isn’t ready. New systems have nothing exclusive and 5g isn’t available everywhere.

PS5 has the new Ratchet and Clank that is exclusive (along with Demon Souls if you allow for a remake).

$70 for launch titles is a barrier to me.

I don't mind paying a premium price for an open world or multiplayer game that I will get tens of games play hours out of over 1-5 year.

However I would think twice about spending that money on repetative looking single player game like Demon Souls.

They put up a monster FAQ. I read this as one drive for PS4.

"On day one, you’ll be able to connect a compatible USB drive and use it to store and play your PS4 games. You’ll be able to play PS4 games while they remain stored on the external device. PS5 games need to reside on PS5’s internal SSD before play."

Demon's Souls is the last game I would call repetitive. Each of the areas is quite different and having other players invading your world causes chaos quite frequently.

Turned on my PS4 this morning and had to wait for it to update a game that it should have updated in the middle of the night.

"Downloading and applying game software updates on PS5 should work more quickly than on the PS4 console in general, as the data size of updates and patches is managed more effectively."

I'm pretty happy with GameStop, they shipped my bundle even though it said "ships by 11/30." It's set to arrive on launch day. :)

Now I just need to decide if I should sell Demon's Souls, or if I can pluck up enough courage (and patience) to make some headway in it with the new Game Help feature.

I finished the original game but I don't think I can make myself play the remake. I like games that save constantly. 😂
