Dude, do you really not see the difference?

Person 1: Watches will be for sale for delivery on 4/24.

Person 2: Sweet, I'll be ready to buy!

And then hey guess what, NONE of certain styles are available on 4/24, and can be delayed as much as a month.

If Apple had been UP FRONT about what would be available before launch, many of us would have picked different configurations. That's all I'm saying.

On this one I agree with you ;)

If they told us, we would all order the band in June and use a sport band until then. They certainly can mass produce those.

Apple never said, "for sale for delivery on 4/24"

The statement was "Available 4/24/2015"

I admit, their statement is vague, just protects them...

Technically and grammatically they are correct. Their statement is very vague, and protects them from people like you accusing them of falsely advertising. If they were to say every single model available to be delivered to you on 4/24/2015, you have a valid complaint.

This person says it even better than I can:

Yeah. No.

Sorry, I disagree. I stayed up for absolutely no reason, and would have happily picked/measured a different model in advance if Apple had been upfront about their zero-stock availability for certain models.

You must not have waited up long enough, or didn't get in the store when thousands of people here did...

I, and thousands of people here getting their watches tomorrow, got in on time and were able to select different models...

Sorry, you are wrong with what you just said. Very obvious based on your comment about you would have selected another model...

NOBODY is getting a 42mm SS with leather loop, or a 38mm with modern buckle tomorrow. NOBODY. Those are the two I ordered at 12:03am PT. It wouldn't have mattered if I'd ordered them at 11pm the night before. There was NEVER any stock available for launch.

Just... forget it.

Loop Bands were shipped....

I saw this attachment earlier in the day and I found it again...how is this possible? What about ours?

I completely agree. And people were given the 5/13 to 5/27 estimate when they ordered.

And, to your point about if you knew that (which everyone else knew before they ordered) you would have ordered a different model.

Many, many, many people did order a differen model when they noticed the date on their first choice. And those people will be getting theirs tomorrow.

I would rather wait for what I really want.

And, by the way, no one is forcing you to buy one. If you're not happy, don't get one. How much easier can it be?

Stone leather loop, still says 2-4 weeks.

Yes, you read that right. The watches with leather loops started at 4-6 weeks but the straps alone ship in 2-4 weeks.

I guess it takes two extra weeks to attach the straps to the watches?

Lmao.

Drew, did you order a watch? If so, can I ask what the status of your shipment is?

I am in the brown leather loop group, ordered at ~2:30 am CDT because I hit snooze too many times. I am annoyed at myself for not waking up "on time" but not at apple. Hell, I haven't even bought anything yet. There is no charge on my card.

I hope I get mine early as I am very excited to use it and develop for it, but I am not annoyed seeing as no purchase has even been made yet.

It makes no difference, I put my order in the minute the store opened and there's no status change on mine. They're delivering based on inventory, not time of order. No biggie but they could've at least told people that order times would make no difference to prevent a late night frenzy.

Yeah, I could swear the apple pay screen has a "delivery window" on it. I like to think I thought it was fine when I bothered to wake up and ordered in my subconscious, so it is obviously fine when I am conscious.

Take the good with the bad. I am excited to have it. I will have an inductive charger sitting on my desk for a few weeks seeing as that got shipped today.

It doesn't make sense for the loops to ship faster than the watches, presuming they package both in China, unless the watch assembly lines have to retool to produce different band/watch combinations. Then, if they assumed the leather loop would be one of the least popular combinations, they may have saved the retool for them for last.

That would make sense if they sold a crap ton of sport models--if you make 10,000 watches an hour and it takes 12 hours to retool, why not just keep the sport line running and sell an extra 120,000 watches instead of have downtime?

I guess we'll find out in a few weeks.

BTW: 42mm SS w/Black Leather Loop, processing still.

I will not believe that individual loops will ship faster than watch + loop sku's until I see it. That would make no sense what so ever.

Not all leather loop bands are 2-4 works. Some are June.

Maybe people that ordered a SS watch with a stone leather loop will get theirs soon. and as also pointed out here, Apple is going in order by order number.

I doubt Apple is going by order number. They have ppl that have ordered the same watch that some have had on order since the 10th. And some how the newer orders are jumping the older ones.

I doubt they're exactly the same... They've done preorders for years and have never heard of this before.

Agree to disagree.

There was even a statement from Apple at some iPhone launch that they randomise the incoming orders.

Of course they still are ordered by time, but sequence generation is not a singleton.

Meaning that every server you are on enters the order in Apple's system independently.

This is not an iPhone launch, and as 99.9% of the people here would agree has not been handled like an iPhone launch...

Maybe I should have clarified. MY leather loop order says 2-4 weeks, delivering April 29-May 12.

I was planning to get a stone leather loop as soon as pre-orders began, then buy a white sport band once the order went through. The second the store app went live, I noticed that the SS with stone leather loop showed 4-6 weeks. Thinking quickly, I chose the SS with white sport for 4/24 delivery. Then I went back and ordered my leather loop separate, thinking it too would be 4-6 weeks. But to my surprise, the leather loop on its own said 2-4 weeks. That doesn't make any sense, it's unfair for those who ordered the loop with a watch, but it is what it is.

Still no movement on my leather loop though. It says processing still. I'll post a pic when I get it.

Thanks. That was my point. It's not. And therefore people get moved to the very end of the line, because they wanted something that Apple gave the lowest priority.

They decided to fill endless sport watch and band orders and simply moved everything else.

That's what we are complaining about.

In a fair system they would look at preorders and weight their production lines so that an equal percentage of different orders actually get filled.

But you and Apple disagree and it's all fine.
Just because Apple decided to fill the most frequently ordered models first, which you choose, but I for example do not want to purchase.

Of course my argument is moot and you are the genius, but please accept that I did not want to choose a different model. I want Apple to take care of a fair order filling procedure.

I completely understand and completely agree with you. I also think if they have the band, and the watch why can't they put the two together.

Others have suggested that these are assembled at the factory and packaged that way. They can't just go in and open a sport band model, remove the watch and put it on the band you want.

I'm hoping after Apple sees what people want, and keep after the return period, they will adjust production accordingly.

You (and I) have no idea how Apple is handling things. So to say what you are saying is your opinion.

And you said I chose a different model that was one of the more frequently ordered models that they're shipping first? I did not!

Please don't say something about me unless you know. I have a 5/13-5/27 window for my SS black leather loop, and am willing to wait without selecting a different model.
