You wouldn't be the Diziet I ran into on the Dranor server the other day would you? I mentioned the name then, and apparently was the first person to get the reference.

I have a hunter called Cheradenine whose pet is called Sharrow...!

My nick is from a William gibson novel called Count Zero (or was it Mona Lisa Overdrive), and is a company name I use as well.

WinterMute is a self aware fragment of an AI intelligence.

Not me, I'm afraid! I play on Stormrage... funnily enough, WoW's one of the few games where I haven't chosen a Culture name (I've got Desdemona, a human warlock and Gutsplutter the Tauren... although 'Gutsplutter' sounds like it should be a Dwarf name really!).

Nice names for the hunter+pet!

I've played on Quake 3, Urban Terror and other servers as Zakalwe. A couple of times it's been recognised... sometimes they'll swap names mid-game to match... usually to 'Skaffen' or 'Diziet' :)

Yeah, well its been a while...:D

Hmmm, that info's not strictly true, WM was a sub-routine of Ummon, it was Ummon that killed Corto.

My iPod is called Ummon... Go figure.

Not too many Banksians around, but even fewer Ken McLeodites....

I work in the building that is features in the Cassini Division when they land the ship near Canary Wharf and travel overland to Ealing, its a University building ATM, I was tickled to see it described in the book, I can even trace the route they took to it.

when I was like 12 or 13 and got AOL, I thought "yourgod17" was a funny screen name to have, 17 just a random number. Later, I grew up and realized how retarded and lame that sounded, so just shortened it to yg and kept the 17, and I am not creative enough to think of anything better

Folks have guess that the 190 stands for my IQ, my age, and all sorts of other things. ejb is, of course, my initials.

ejb190 was my university assigned e-mail address when I was a grad student at Penn State. Memorable and just ambiguous enough to stay somewhat anonymous...until Google came along.

No doubt on that one:) I too am a big fan of MG....except rayden..hate that guy

Ah yes, I would like to clarify my intial response to this post as well.

MG = cool
Rayden = loser (and one of the reasons I didn;t like MGS2 as much...)

Developed mine after reading an old David Letterman Top Ten List. I think it was Seldom Heard Adjectives. One was Lick-Proof and the other was Asphalt-tested. Its been with me for about 6 year now.

My last name is Murphy, so for years friends have called me Murph Dog...it's my 'cool hip-hop name'...hehehh...but it has managed to stick.

It's pretty uncommon online, so I do try to use m-dogg on other forums as well. So if you see this name outside of MR, there is a good chance it is me.

Note, that I am not the body builder m-dogg that shows up on the web (or in Google searches), I am the skier/moutain biking/computer geek m-dogg.

spelling your name backwards is very popular here, maybe i should do the same

zggir yn2......hows that?;)

Bless

I don't think "edutitla xam" is even pronounceable, but it would certainly be an interesting conversation starter. :D

It seems just yesterday that the 2004 thread was around. I'm surprised this one is five pages long now!

I was born on December 6, and my name is Nicholas - December 6th is the Feast Day of St Nicholas. I haven't really had any user names relating to that until recently. So I came up with iSaint, the obvious i play on all things Mac. I don't think I'm a saint by any means! :D

Both my grandfather and his father were named Nicholas. My mom didn't realize I was born on St Nicholas Day.

Such is mine....yet another boring story behind a screen name. It's my real middle and first name backwards. ;) :p :D

So your name's "eel firolf", that's unusual...what are it's origins? :D

Actually, it's Ee l'Firolf. Isn't it obvious? It's French!

Or Florif Lee....oh forget it, just tell us what it is:)

Okay, okay... so it really is boring. In a desparate and very uncreative attempt to come up with a screen name when my parents signed up for AOL back in the day (remember dial-up??) I just took the first initial of my last name and placed it at the beginning of my first and middle name. Hence...
F +Lori +F+Lee
It's stuck with me for the last 12+ years or so now. Gee... now I feel old.

Nice one! ;) You had us all guessing.

I think I have one of the only names more pronounceable backwards than it is the right way.

I can easily pronounce
namyz sta

where even after 29 years I'm not sure I'm pronouncing my last name correctly..... considering the fist six letters are szyman

Posted mine in the thread from 2004.

Though, I have to confess, most of that story is not true... Yes, shocking, I know.

In reality, I just came up with it when I needed a nick for something. Don't remember what it was. Thought it had a nice ring to it, so I kept using for other things too, including MR. Doesn't have any special meaning. I have a couple of other nicks I tend to use, too. Mostly a coincidence that I didn't use one of them here.

Mine is pretty boring. The MD is for minidisc and 63 is just a number I sorta like. I still think minidisc is a great format. Nothing beats it for easy, portable live recording, and until the iPod came along it was definitely my choice for listening to music too.

Been using it for so long now, I just don't really want to change to something else.
