My name is both what I do and who I am. It somehow seemed appropriate at the time. The hard part was getting the internet connection this deep in the woods. ;)

You're a bear, and you "do" rangers?

It's okay, we're a very open community here... Do rangers come willingly?

My Physics teacher at school named me 'Chappers' and it stuck although only a few people actually call me that now.

Why, yes. To paraphrase Seinfeld, is there anything wrong with that?

BTW, love the white text. I don't know about my coworkers, but I do. :D

I used to be a Unix engineer. I finally got sick of the software business and became a park ranger. I work with bears. I keep track of them. When they become a nuisance and need to be removed I'm the guy you call. Since you seem to understand the term, I also happen to be one. Subspecies muscle.
And I look damned hot in my uniform

EricNau...

Eric is my first name, and Nau is the first 3 letters of my last. (Nau _ _ _ _)

I was 7 when I made that up, and I've been using it for everything ever since - not because I like it, but because I can't think of anything else. :(

Whats the meaning of your MR member name?

RISC |risk|
noun [usu. as adj. ] Computing
a computer based on a processor or processors designed to perform a limited set of operations extremely quickly. • computing using this kind of computer.

ORIGIN 1980s: acronym from reduced instruction set computer (or computing).

Says it all really. I've had a thing for RISC boxes for ages.

I think I have one of the only names more pronounceable backwards than it is the right way.

I can easily pronounce
namyz sta

where even after 29 years I'm not sure I'm pronouncing my last name correctly..... considering the fist six letters are szyman

The name forwards and backwards looks strangely Polish. Very similar to my old co-worker's last name, which was Przsbylska. I'm not sure which way it's more easily pronounced.... It all looks the same when there's not enough vowels.

As my dad used to say "The 3's and 5's are silent..."

My brother is still convinced that our name is a typo and the 'z' is really supposed to be a '2'.

The joys of Polish names. I almost feel sorry for my wife and daughter, but my wife chose to take the name and my daughter can always marry someone named "Smith" or "Jones."

Me, I will always be stuck with it, as will any of my male children...

My handle is a name of a Czech pastry. I'm 1/4 Czech.

Those are kind of like little muffins with raisins, and lots of flour and sugar, right? I think I had those when I was in Prague last fall. Yummy.

The meaning of my MR name is highly complex, and goes back to the very beginings of time.

If I were to explain it, the information so many people would gain would be devistating to the stability of the universe; infact, I am told, doing so would cause the universe to collapse upon itself.

Study it no more. You have been warned.

Warhammer 40000  "For even in the naming The Great Devourer, humanity shows his great ignorance" or summat along those lines. It's not my fault! I was young and impressionable at the time!

:p

Funny that UPN is in the news right now, because my name is the lead character of one of their very first shows. (Some people say the only good one.)

Thomas Veil was a photographer who took an incriminating picture of a military execution and was pursued by people involved in a vast conspiracy to take over the government.

To that end, they completely "erased" his identity so that his wife and friends no longer knew him, his bank cards no longer worked, and no record of him existed anywhere.

I have been using this name since I'm on the internet.

First I used it as a Counter Strike nickname.

I chose this name because of the similarity to my real name.

Sharewaredemon comes form the days of OS 7 and shareware.

There was a little known RPG series called Exile.

I started with Exile 2, when I got to the point where you could not go any further (the Sharewaredemon would appear and tell you had to register before you could play anymore...

I found a way around it.

forever mocking the Sharewaredemon by taking his name!

ha!

I don't really remember the first screen names i used.

At the first full-time job i did people used to IM each other. I had never used that specific IM app so that's when it started.
The _be (<space>be now due to MRguides login issues) should be self explaining... belgium.
Redeye because my left eye gets super red when i stare at the screen for to long. It used to be better but a few weeks ago extreme red was back.

It has a kind of childish sound to it I think; something like: i wanna be cool. I do want to be cool, in fact i am. I'm not childish though.

The name is the reason I am so good with my HP calculator. It uses Reverse Polish Notation.

I understand that since it was derived from Polish notation calling it Reverse Polish Notation makes sense, but I must admit I laughed when I read that it was created by an Aussie. The reverse just had to be created by someone on the opposite end of the world.... :D
