Using a crappy Samsung thing that looks like a toy phone. think it cost about £15. It came with £10 credit lol.

It probably has a better battery than my 3G. I want to return it, but I don't know when. The rubber is getting loose around the screen and the cable is broken at both ends. But it's the very poor battery life and the wifi problems that make my iPhone unfit for purpose. I wouldn't mind a 3GS or a new one, but if the iPod Touch gets a camera, I'm off.

Some people, including me, bought it on PAYG.

even still not worth it. 3GS is from £449 plus why would you want to give it away. More use keeping it. If it's a 3G, then that's a different story.

Sold my unlocked 16GB 3GS for £380 minus ebay fees. Now having serious withdrawals, even with an iPad on hand I miss my iPhone.

Lets hope there is not a long wait and that pay as you go is an option as I really do not want another contract again. I want to keep my current £20 a month O2 iPhone deal.;)

Its from 450 quid, with free internet, so if you sell it for 350 after a year its turns out that the phone cost you less than 9 quid per month. Its well worth it.

Couldnt agree more, then that money can be used for yet another PAYG iPhone :)

So, where can you buy the cheapest 3Gs models (simlock free). Prices might move on (so 3Gs gets price of 3G, 4G/HD will be the price of 3Gs)?

Belgium seems kinda cheap. 475 EUR for 8GB 3G. 575 EUR for 16 GB 3GS and 675 EUR for 32 GB 3GS (all simlock free, no contract required).

A question about 02 recycle - my 3g has a few scratches on the glass covering the screen, they don't affect the screen at all and are barely noticeable when in use. Will this mean the phone will be rejected?

So how many of us are half way through a contract and hoping the new iPhone is launched on PAYG straight away?
Selling my white 3GS after I’ve got my new one, I cant go back to another brand of phone!

im not personally, i still have my 3G.
but interested to know how did you go from 3G to 3GS - upgrade early again? or did you just get the 3GS (no 3G)?

Last year it was, so this year should be the same! And also this time we have got three carriers so I'm pretty sure none of them will want to risk being the one which does not offer PAYG iphone.

I ordered the original iPhone on launch, then queued for the 3G taking the early upgrade option from O2, then I upgraded to the 3GS shortly after it was released (my option to upgrade was due).
I’m tied in until 12.06.2011 so will have to buy on PAYG, hence, hoping its released on launch day!

Yeah true! Whats the best thing to do with the unused PAYG sim?

I'm worried 2 year contracts might be the thing this year. 18 month contracts still bug the hell out of me, I refused it in the past and always haggled for a 12 month "or I move to another network". When I got a 3G I had no haggling power, so settled for an 18 monther. Will you guys that are satying on contract be happy with a 2 year deal?

Thinking about it though, say I sign up for an 18 month contract and iPhone 5G is out next June, I'll still have to wait 6 months for an upgrade(as was the case with the 3GS), there is no way I'd get one when it'd be another 6 months before iPhone 6G! So a 2 year contract isn't too much worse than a 18 month contract.

I still think with Apple bringing out a new model every 12 months, we shoudl be able to get a 12 month contract!

I'm seriously considering a business contract with O2, they allow you to upgrade once a year!

Yep, I've got 6-7 months left on my contract.

I don't really fancy having to cut my current SIM down to a MicroSIM, but I guess I don't really have a choice.

my iPhone 3g just gave up the ghost (broken Connector 3 and i'm not a good solderer so forget that) so i'm using my N95 for the next few days. Will be buying the 4th Gen on PAYG though as it makes better fiscal sense. £450 for the handset, resell at £350 and use my o2 staff simplicity sim. Now if only staff got discounts on the actual handset....!

The new sim is likely to be a micro-sim?
