Yeah i've considered this option but all depends how steep their prices are.

I'm thinking of going PAYG too, though, I'd end up spending more on phones annually (because I'd want a new iPhone every June) But that way, I feel no pressure about when I can upgrade to the next model because of my contract and instead just buy when I want to.

Besides which, On things like an 18 month contract, it ends up working out cheaper to get a SIMplicity style account, the realisation that I'm most likely paying a premium for my "subsidised" handset shocked me.

To be honest, The less of my money going into the carriers pockets, the happier I will be, even if I'm paying more year to year.

Ahh may look into other companies offering insurance.
Is it really only £139 for a full phone swap? Never heard of that before. Currently paid 2 years for my 3G of £6 a month as my previous insurance premium cost just carried over to my 3G contract. £144 in total for 24 months.
I'm guessing now i switched to Simplicity (rolling contract) i probably won't be able to carry on with the £6 a month for the iPhone 4, pretty sure they will try charge me the £15.

Never had my phone stolen (touch wood) or broken either though it has survived a few heart stopping moments when i've fallen asleep on toilet and it's dropped out of my hand onto the floor lol.

Fell asleep on the toilet???! Lmao!

On another note, has anyone got ideas if us simplicity owners can just cut our current sim card for use in the iPhone 4?

I use loads of data, but I use hardly any calls and texts. This month so far I've used 9 mins and 34 texts. So I can go for the cheapest option regarding calls and texts, I just need unlimited data or a realistic cap. At the moment, assuming leaks are true, Orange is winning for me despite the really expensive handset prices.

Sorry for not knowing EVERYTHING that has been covered!!!!

Your sarcasm insults me

It's not the fact it hasn't been covered, its just completely unrelated to the conversation. So, don't just find a thread, post something off topic and leave.

The fact you say I was being sarcastic is also wrong, I was stating a point.

You're short sightedness insults me. Now thats sarcasm

lol everyone's getting a bit touchy now. The waiting's doing horrible things to us! Release the pre orders Apple!

if the o2 plans are like the vodafone plans which the iphone is free over £45/m I will deffo get the iPhone on o2, 45.

I think it's so poor that UK networks have not yet released plans/costs for the iPhone 4 yet, preordering begins tomorrow. Ridiculous!

Well we're in the UK iphone 4 thread. Which, im sure someone as perfect as you, will be aware is running on IOS4. So this is relevant.

Look up the dictionary as your point WAS sarcasm!!

I don't know this seems to be getting all a bit fishy to me.

Apple says UK pre-orders on the 15th but O2 aren't doing pre-orders themselves so will they have pre-orders available through apple? will O2 want to release prices through apple when they likely want to hold out as long as they can, evidence via today's how to wipe your ass with a sim card email?

Vodafone prices are leaked but a Vodafone spokesperson says they are still in talks with Apple! bit late is it not, why would they say they were going to carry the iPhone last monday before they even knew what deal they would be getting from apple.

Apple up until this point only sell pay&go so I don't think they will have the infrastructure to do new or upgrade contract for the networks.

I think apple will be pre-ordering sim free iPhones tomorrow (pay&go prices) that will either lock when you first use a sim or seeing as it looks like all UK networks will be running the iPhone soon they may just be unlocked.

In the US Apple and AT&T seem to be onboard with each other with pre-orders and the price is already known, in the UK i'm starting to get the impression that the UK mobile networks maybe don't like this Apple pre-order tomorrow.

I wish apple would take the control away from the networks and deal with there customers directly especially as it seems a good amount of people don't want subsidised locked into contract phones, I also think it is a bad deal not indicating prices a reasonable time ahead of an order.

Yup its a poor show.

They obviously have agreed to do this either between themselves or because Apple demands it.

It gives customers no time to compare against competitors if they want to get a pre-order in ASAP before the handset sells out. The websites will probably crash due to server load and people will buy with their hearts instead of whats in their wallets.

The math

If the handset price is going to be £30 more than the current price on 3GS then the £40 price plan probably looks better than the £35 this time around based on the 18 month plan.

£35 plan:- £35x18months = £630 + handset £280 (3gs £250) Total £910

£40 plan:- £40x18months = £720 + handset £210 (3gs £180) Total £930

So you would pay just £20 to go from 300mins a month to 600mins a month over length of your contract so probably £40 is the sweetspot (whereas last year was £35

So simplicity for the equivilent of the £40 plan costs £25 a month
£25 x 18 months = £450

OK Just about done :) Take £450 off the £930 total contract cost would give you £480 <----- If the cost of the 32gig iphone 4 is below this cost then PAYG & Simplicity plan would be the way to go in regards to value over the initial 18 month period £360 is the price to beat if ya want the £20 simplicity plan that matches the £35 contract.

Hope all the above makes sense in regards to peoples best option providing they have cash up front.

so what part of picking a fight with somebody for the sake of it is 'keeping to the topic'?
If his point is of topic (which i agree it was) just ignore it!

ps Lets not turn this into a back and forth argument and get back to 'the topic'

See, I dont know if to carry on my Simplicity £20 and buy the 32GB outright, or start a new contract with vodafone. 40/18m with a 30% discount. £28 a month then.
