does anybody have any thoughts on what i should get, pay as you go or pay monthly, currently im on pay as you go on orange dolphin and when i top up £10 i get 300 free texts and calls come out of my credit and so far that has been enough for me, but im going to be starting university in september and i dont know if 300 texts and £10 worth of call time a month will be enough when im there, so does anybody have any experience on how much calls and texts you get through an uni?

The fact that France, Germany and Japan haven't updated yet would leave me to believe nothing will change until Apple launches the U.S. preorders. They'll likely do all countries simultaneously.
Tried to get in to the upgrade section on myo2 and it's just grinding to a halt with all the people trying to get in.guess it will be like that most the day tomorrow too.

I use a lot more mins/texts since I left home as you don't have your landline and you tend to be out a lot more so end up calling/texting more.
If i were you i'd stay on PAYG and then upgrade to a sim only plan when you start if you need it.
Some halls do have landlines but they're normally only free between halls and to call out you need to top up
I took out my first contract on the 3GS on launch as I thought I'd use tons of minutes and texts away at uni...well, my uni is in the middle of rural Shropshire and I get no O2 signal, so I use hardly any of my allowance each month! Moving into the town next year though, so should finally be able to use what i'm paying for (on the iPhone 4 of course ).
From what I've seen so far i.e. piss all, I'll be staying with O2 and using their 'special' early upgrade offer to buy out of the last 6 months of my contract.

i'm lucky - a new friend of mine works for o2 (business marketing) and has offered the 30% friends family discount...and i said yes of course
want to check out payg prices so i know how much i will need to pay in a week or two AFTER i have seen and handled both colours.

yeah i was thinking about all of that, i might go with your idea, but i just hope orange or someone brings out a sim only plan for the iphone on micro-sim or i will just cut down a normal sim. thanks for the help

as far as i am aware you cannot get the 30% on iPhones, it only applied to the 3G and then they stopped doing it soon after the release of the 3GS.
im pretty sure you wont get it on a PAYG handset regardless.....

A friend of mine works for o2 and i get the same discount.
My upgrade is due but i wonder if i can still retain the discount with the new iphone?
any ideas?
The 30% F&F discount is valid on all contracts - and will be valid on iPhone 4 contracts. The 30% is line rental discount. There is no handset discount at all (Pay Monthly/Pay & Go/Business etc)
All of a sudden, I've started to really really want an iMac... feel stupid for thinking of spending half an imac on an iphone when i already have an iphone...
Well folks, today is the day we "may" finally see what the pricing is, and dare I say it... even get a Pre-Order in!!
the guy said he never knew the transaction so bank did the chargeback through paypal. Even spoke to him and next time I rang Asian gentleman told me he'd never heard of him. Chargeback can be done at any time. I lost my Special Delivery tracking number, well 6 months you wouldn't think you needed it. Police wouldn't even help, even though guy bought other stuff and did same thing!
Would never sell an iPhone on eBay again.
