The new iPhone will be available on PAYG when it launches why would it not? Like the iPad, this is where Apple will make their money.

How will the pre-ordering work? Would you pre-order from Apple or from the Network provider?

I am currently with Vodafone and for some reason they are not available through the Apple site. However this could change.

Last year when it was O2 only you couldn't pre-order with the Network or Apple only Carphone Warehouse. So its hard to say how its going to work, it will probably depend on how far away the actual release date is.

Just got off the blower with Orange UK about getting a microSIM delivered so I can switch over on my existing contract. The very nice lady told me that the UK doesn't have a 4G network yet so no UK networks will be carrying the new iPhone for at least a year.

So I asked if it would still work on the existing CDMA networks here, she said yes, but there would be no 4G on it. I told her that the phone I've been using with them for the past 12 months is a 4G phone and that this feature was not new, phones have had it for a while and it hasn't stopped them selling them. She was, however, adamant that nobody in the UK will be selling "the new iPhone 4GS" (wtf?)

It was so hard not to lol down the phone at her. Gotta love call centres...

You think that is bad? I was on the phone to Orange to cancel my contract and the two guys I spoke to had 'never heard of' the new iPhone being launched today. They kept saying, you mean the iPad? I said no, the iPhone will be announced at WWDC today and they just repeated that the iPad will be officially announced and launched today. So I then asked them to explain how I was playing with an iPad a few days ago in an Apple store, to which they said, the Apple stores get the iPads early. I then humoured them and said, ok how much for a new iPhone 3GS? And I was told that they would give me the 'new' iPhone 3GS for the same price as a 3G, to which I replied, you are doing this to get rid of your 3GS stock as fast as possible for the new iPhone, right? The dude on the other end simply said, no comment, and then proceeded to try and sell me the HTC Desire.

Will you be buying then unlocking a new 4th gen Iphone from O2?

i will be doing this, just hoping O2 will still unlock the new Iphones.

Duck!

Depends on price if they do pay and sim free. Even if they do payg if I can activate myself and sell the sim with free Internet on. Just don't want the millstone of a contract around my neck.

LMAO!!! That's absolutely shameless!! So it seems some of them are clued up and are trying to shift off some last minute 3GS' before the newspapers plaster the new iPhone everywhere and effectively kill 3GS/3G sales...

Really!? Wow, i spoke to o2 and they were ALOT more knowledgeable about the new iPhone. They said they'll send out a replacement microsim for free with first class delivery, whenever i want it.

Same here or you can get the SIM replaced in store free of charge

Well guys only time will tell ;)

I will be selling my nexus one at cex as they give £286 for a mint condition one and will be using that to either purchase a pay as you go one in the UK through Orange or when I go to Hong Kong next month will get a factory unlocked one there.

If Orange unlock the phone that would be a major plus so I can use it abroad with any sim card too.

Anyone know if Vodafone plan to release a PAYG model for the new iPhone? Also if vodafone will allow us to swap our normal sim cards for a microsim?

Can't see any reason why not as orange and o2 have it on pay as you go unless there is something weird with their contract with apple to state they cannot.

looks godd do you think id have to unjailbreak before i send it to o2??

probably wouldnt hurt.

tbh, just reset it to factory settings, wipe all your data off the phone first before sending it away to any recycling company.

ok just filled it in looks good, only thing is they say print out the order number with you name etc on it, my printers gubbed:eek::eek:

Just save the webpage and you can print it later.

The price they give you is valid for 7 days. So until O2 send out the package it goes in, just find a printer during that time. Ask a neighbour? family?
