Guys, I just preordered mine for pickup in a local Apple Store, and nowhere during the process did it mention the prices! I preordered the 16gb SIM-free version - does anyone know the price?

Thanks

Sim free (unlocked) version will be 499 and 599, it's right there on the store page.

I agree - I know Apple is a premium brand but UK prices are getting stupid. The lowest model Mac Mini has gone from £510 to £650 - that’s a massive jump. Also, I was looking at the MBP the other day and noticed that the low end 15" model is now £1500 whereas it was something like £1299 before the model upgrades. I just can’t justify these new prices when you can get equivalent models for 1/3 of the price elsewhere.

Remember when the Mac Minis were £399?

£419 for the 8GB 3GS ... I might go for that, but then it's only £30 less for half the capacity that was on sale yesterday.

I know it's only another £80 for the iPhone 4 16GB, but my mortgage is £470!

Morally, I just cannot spend £500 on a phone and in the process pay more than my mortgage every month.

Just got mine:

hmmm undecided as to either reserve a payg from my local apple store or order an unlocked one. Any speculation on the price differences?

Reserved 32GB, pay monthly, at Trafford. However, no confirmation yet.

There won't be upgrade prices for people like O2 as I understand it and you can online activate anyway. (You can sell them your old handset for a good price - equivalent of upgrading in some way).

It's all a little confusing though really....and I'm no idiot.

I just got my reserve&collect email confirmation -even though my Apple Store is 2 hours away, it must be less painful than trying to order online this morning... I think i'll settle for pick-up on 24th.

Just got my email from Apple:

It says that pickup starts at 8AM at the Apple store in the trafford centre. They will hold my phone til the close of business on launch day.

What's the deal with UK store Pick-up? It let's you choose store, phone size and whether you want Sim Free, PAYG or Pay Monthly.... But what are the prices for pay monthly on an in store pick-up??? Any ideas??

I have placed a reservation to pick up from the apple store in Newcastle.

It's pretty cool, because it asks if you want it sim free/unlocked. I'm going to cut down my existing SIMplicity £20 deal and stick it in so o2 can't tinker with my rolling monthly contract and 'accidentally' take me off unlimited data.

Also.......I presume I can put this sim into an ipad when I get one........(providing I don't need my phone when I'm using it in ipad)

No standing in line for me next Thursday!
They can easily tinker with your contract at the end of one of the months. It's not a long term contract, it's a monthly contract. They can change the terms at the end of every month if they want - but they have to tell you they're doing it.
