When reserving for Apple store collection it gives you the option of;

1) SIM free
2) PAYG
3) Monthly contract - new contract and upgrades

So looks like you can do contract upgrades at Apple stores unlike the last couple of years.

Reserved mine. 🙂

Anyone think the o2 etc PAYG prices will be exactly the same, except that they will be locked, and in place they will give you a bolt on with a 500mb per month data cap for 12 months?

This is what I see happening. No way will they be cheaper, as it would be a licence to buy a cheap one to jailbreak and unlock.

That's what I see.

I've reserved a SIM free 32GB for store pickup. As it's no obligation 😀.

However I'll be using my existing O2 contract (whether I get it transfered to a Microsim or cut down the current SIM is up for debate) so if O2 were selling them as PAYG handsets locked to O2 but for a good bit less than Apple's SIM-free handset I'll cancel my Apple reservation.

ok so anyone know how to get a micro sim now? I'm using mine with t mobile and when i called they didn't even know what a micro sim was!!

i've already ordered a sim cutter from cutmysim.com, so will cut my existing o2 simplicity sim... £20pm 600 mins, 1200 texts, unlimited data, free mms (well.. 1 mms = 4 sms from allowance).. can't go wrong with that!

Helppppppppp!!!!!!!!!!

they will still charge to unlock

I appreciate they will charge to unlock but if you buy it on your own network (for me o2) then there would be no need to unlock right?

Jailbreak/unlock could be a free option if required - but at a price of £450 for the PAYG o2 I would be tempted. Any more than £450 I will just by the unlocked version from Apple (which as an ebayer will certainly carry some saleability when it comes the time to saddle up).

Overall I am quite encouraged by these prices.

The reservation allows you to change your plan when you pick up.

I've reserved a sim free so I can continue my existing contract, but I can change that if i chose to upgrade or PAYG works out cheaper.

I didn't see the option to chose PAYG or Sim free on the pre-order

so these are fully unlocked?

any chance o2's locked payg iP4's will be cheaper?

ps - bumper - £25!!! no way am i buying that! also, strange that even apple are not able to offer white phones on launch....

yes they are unlocked. I imagine payg phones will be about £450, doubt it will be much cheaper than that.
