Im so pissed off
Apple need to sort this crap out
Its not fair that 32GB orders have gone through!
HAS ANYBODY HERE ACTUALLY MANAGED TO ORDER A 16GB?!
Ive been trying for 1 hour on multiple laptops, all of them timing out!
Now the whole store is down?!
W T F?!

I think I might have done. I say think as the page timed out when I clicked "place your order". My card has been charged and the order did show up on my apple account. I haven't had any confirmation email though! 😕

Apples login seems to be broken.

I've reserved my iPhone for in store pickup, possibly cancelled it (or maybe not since I couldnt log in?) but I want to reserve a SIM free rather than Pay and Go?

SO I pre-ordered my 32Gb just a few minutes ago.
In-Store Pick Up (I like the hype and the cute store girl clapping at me)

I got the confirmation email.

But being a fool, I cannot remember if I chose Sim Free, Pay Monthly or Pay As You Go. Woops.

The confirmation page and email don't tell you either way.

I'm a bit weary of it all now.

Does anyone else have a confirmation email they care to post online so I can compare? (Obviously feel free to blank out any personal info)

I feel like a right **** now. Sorry.

The only option was Sim Free, if you go to order status on the apple site then look at your order detail it should say something like none for data plan, voice plan and text plan.

You know VAT is paid to HMRC right?

Not sure what the point is you're making?

O2 etc sell to us including VAT, which they then pass on to HMRC. If they sell you a phone at £117.50 ( for ease of numbers ) pre order at the moment they're looking at keeping £100. If the VAT goes up to 22% as an example they should charge us £122, but they haven't. They still have to give HMRC £22, so they have only made £95.50. That's £4.50 less profit for every phone sold.

Or they have to take pre-orders, then at the last minute add extra on, which they'd have to get permission for from each and every one of the people who ordered. Administration nightmare.

Pete

For those having difficulty with the Apple.com/uk store page. You can pre-order through the iPhone page itself which seems to be working ok.

Delivery date showing 25th-28th it seems it's the bumper that is pushing the date up, will call apple later and if this is the case the bumper will be getting bumped.
Did you receive confirmation email yet???!!! I didnt receive any confirmation email yet but can see my order at the apple order status website!!!
and me too i have the same delivery thing because of the black bumper!!! do u think apple do next day delivery???! i really doubt it!

I may have to decide to go for a 3GS 8GB at £419 ... I just cannot justify £500 in my mind for a phone.

How come the 3GS 8gb costs just $99 in the US but £419 here? I don't understand, i know its a US product and it has to be shipped here from wherever but thats a massive price difference?!!!

Guy on the phone at regent street was rather rude, just waited 20 minutes on hold to talk to that douche.

Regent Street Apple Store well known to be a horrid place behind the scenes, as well as being far, far too busy as it's the only Apple Store the tourists go to. The staff must be extremely stressed out right now - a little patience and understanding from phone callers wouldn't go amiss I'm sure! White City and BlueWater or whatever it's called are much healthier friendlier places to get your Apple stuff from.

I had a window pop up asking if I wanted Pay As You Go (O2 and Orange only) or Pay Monthly, or SIM Free.

Is the £599 the SIM Free price?

And I have nothing in the order page :-(

You can change it when you go into the store. It says when you select which option you want.

They are all Sim Free from the apple store.

Yes but what he's saying is if O2 announce now that the iPhone will be (just to make things simple) £100 inc. VAT, £17.50 goes to HMRC. If VAT then goes up to say 22%, £22 goes to HMRC....O2 lose money.

If they wait till after the VAT announcement, they can tailor the price to keep the same not-inc.-VAT profit.

Hi All

I have been reading these forums for years but never joined until now.

I am going to New York tomorrow and wanted to reserve an iPad, went to the site and it only lists iPhone 4's 32GB $699 im sure these are sim free just like uk which with sales tax makes it.... £510! I have reserved one to collect from 5th Avenue on 24th!

See for yourselves....
Reverse

You might get caught with import tax when you bring it back through customs. Watch out.

Dont worry, you can change it when you pick up... it says so when you select the plan.. Its just to reserve the hardware for you

Yes, it's the price you pay if you aren't starting a new contract and getting a subsidised handset from one of the providers. So, if you already have a SIM to stick in it and/or a contract to use it on.

Finally signed up here! Thought I'd post this since I haven't seen it posted yet...
