1000's of morons have posted who don't understand the difference between a "SIM free, unlocked phone" and a "PAYG phone".

followed by other retards who have posted with "why are the US getting it for $299 and we have to pay £599" - errr, that would be because they have to sign a 2 year contract versus a no contract unlocked phone.

Haha perfect responce to a large bunch of lazy obsessed people!

I bought mine through Quidco and I noticed that it dropped from 4% to 3%.
On another note I can't see how Apple can justify £25 for a bumper when in a few weeks time there will be hundreds of them on ebay from Hong Kong charging 99p.

Because all the people buying now are too impatient to wait for the cheapo versions (even though they will be delivered around the same time)...and Apple knows this.

Also on a kind of the same note good on apple doing an option for sim free on the iphone and as for me pay & go is redundant as why save 50 quid or whatever is it if you need to then go through the hassle of getting it unlocked for a fee and waiting so many months before you can do it.

I tried but it didn't work for me 🙁 I'm pretty sure I did it right as well. Can anyone confirm they got their 3% cashback?

Tracking doesn't happen instantly and they wont pay until way after the item's shipped. You'll just have to wait and hope it shows up.

Speaking to a Vodafone rep about 10 minutes ago.

Vivian: Hello, you're chatting with Vivian, one of Vodafone's online sales specialists. May I take your name please?
You: al
You: alex
Vivian: Hi Alex, how are you today?
You: Im looking at the iPhone deals
You: is it likely that the 3GS is going to be reduced in price today?
Vivian: Well the plan will remain same for all the phones even 3gs
You: and the iPhone 4 will be just priced above it?
Vivian: Yes you're right
You: have you any idea yet of how much more it will be than the 3GS?
Vivian: It would be above £70 or more
You: Thanks
You: much better than o2 :L
Vivian: Is there anything else i can do for you today?
You: thats all for now
Vivian: Thank you for chatting with me today. Vodafone really values your feedback. Please click the "Close" button at top right to answer a few questions about your experience with me today. Have a really good day!
Vivian: Bye
You: need to wait until prices are released for the iPhone 4
Vivian: Yes
You: Are vodafone allowing pre orders?
You: I have never used them before
Vivian: Yes it will be available today after 6 pm
You: Ill be back later thanks

Like people said they aren't reliable, but atleast it is something to go on.

EDIT: tried again:

You: Is the iPhone 4 going to be available for pre - order today?
Jessica: As yet we are still finalising the price plans with Apple for the iphone 4, we are hoping to have the pre-order available and online within the next couple of days. Have you registered your interest for it?
You: will it have similar tarrifs to the 3GS?
Jessica: Is there anything else i can do for you today?
Jessica: We are not too sure yet, still being sorted with Apple.

It usually takes several days till anything tracks in Quidco, and that maybe after the 24th as these are pre-orders. I've had quite a bit of money back from Apple purchases through Quidco and nothing has ever been declined from Apple.

Only thing is I see that Apple are currently not paying Quidco on iPads and quite a few iPod models according to their page on Quidco, so I wouldn't be surprised if the iPhone 4 is also exempt.

Apple are definitely trying to push people away from contract and into buying the SIM-free version. Just did the online chat thingy to ask about contract prices, and the rep repeatedly asked things along the line of "why not just buy it SIM free and then you're free to change networks all you like?".

I'd also heard that orange and O2 had been asked by apple to withhold their contract details today, also suggesting Apple are trying to get people to buy direct and without contract. Presumably this is because it will make them more money! In 12 months time, when iPhone 5 is out Apple will want people to be without contract so that they can upgrade immediately. Those on contract are far more likely to skip a generation.

I wonder if the O2 Simplicity (sim-only) plans will have a new MicroSim one?

Doubt it, they'd want you on the more expensive iPhone specialised plans without unlimited data. You can cut the normal SIM down to Micro SIM size yourself though.

It'll be interesting to see whether or not the networks will charge a premium for a sim only plans using a micro sim. I'm not too sure what to do at the moment myself, take out a 'normal sim' sim only plan now (and cut the card/hope the network issues a micro sim replacement), or wait for potentially inflated prices for iphone 4 specific tariffs..

Mmm... Potentially correct here. At least, it sounds logical.

Though an unlocked good quality iPhone retains its value remarkably well.

I've called twice, 1 person didn't know anything and the other said tomorrow. Funking idiots.

they can't do that it's against competition law to talk about pricing and release dates between customers

Mmm, you realise orders can be cancelled, right?

Of course. But I'm willing to bet the majority of people aren't going to go though the hassle of just canceling their bumper order.

If Apple think they can get away with charging that much than that's their risk (personally I think they'll get away with it just fine). If you don't want to pay £25 for it, then don't. Wait for the knock-offs.

I was about to reserve a 32GB, then it couldn't connect to server, on the next try they had sold out at my nearest Apple Store :'(

I think you only get them options if you reserve to collect in store.

Damn, didn't realise the collect in store is an entirely different process than ordering online so I ended up ordering a 32GB unlocked for delivery. I can always cancel that, but now I try to reserve a 32GB PAYG it seems that there is no stock left 🙁

Has it been confirmed that you can just cut them down to size? Also, what would you actually use to cut them? 😱

I think I'm just going to wait and see if O2 bring out a MicroSim deal or not.
