I've been gone since midday/last 12 pages.

Has anything new happened? Did they update the store with the new info?

Well wanted the white but bought the black online, will use the 14 day return period to make my mind up, hopefully we get some more news on white availability.

I'm for one glad that the handset prices were announced first.

Normally the contract prices are announced then after a few weeks the payg option then becomes available and somewhere down the line unlocking processes are listed.

It’s just nice for once us non contract peeps got news first on iPhone options
😉

Just ordered on apple store (4, 16gb + bumper) - and it says ship 16 July!!

Have I missed the window already?

Best wishes
James

Probably the bumper which is pushing the delivery out. I was ordering a dock and it pushed it to 16th July. Removed the dock and it went back to delivers 24th June.

I reserved an iPhone without simlock, will Apple ask me for any kind of ID? (I will be visiting the UK on that date)

This is what they say you should bring but if you are buying unlocked and can persuade them that you will activate it yourself (eg because it's a present) I don't see why you should need anything more than I.D. (to prove that it is your reservation) and a working credit / debit card card:

So basically, there will be NO Pay As You Go models sold in the UK by each carrier, because the handset would then be subsidised somewhat and be cheaper than Apple's SIM free versions.

Yeah?

I don't think so, any phone on pay as you go is cheaper than buying it directly from the manufacturer (usually), because it's always a little subsidised.

Plus, O2 has already put up special iPhone PAYG tariffs.

Absolutely right - have removed the bumper and date has gone back. Was an impulse purchase anyway, this way I can actually look at one first 🙂

I've just had a call from somebody at the Manchester Trafford Centre store regarding the Reserve & Pick-Up system.

Basically they're not yet sure how things will work on the day but they expect the people who've reserved will definitely get their phones on the 24th, even if they're turning other customers away due to lack of stock when you turn up.

They're also unsure of the difference between Sim-free and PAYG iPhones other than the fact that PAYG will be activated in store and locked to a carrier. I asked why anybody would therefore choose the PAYG option and the answer was "Don't know, but the carriers choose the prices for their PAYG handsets which we honour in store and they *could* be cheaper than the sim-free option. As yet we don't have those prices."

Regarding the disclaimer at the bottom of the reservation email saying that pre-authorisation is not a guarantee of availability, they see it as smallprint which is there 'just in case' but don't actually expect this to happen.

Given that reserved phones have now 'sold out' it would seem that Apple are not overselling their stock.

Because they aren't doing pre-orders. First-come first-served at the stores on the 24th. Wake up early.

I think that is just a line that o2 customer service are spinning until Apple give them the nod to allow pre-orders. I wouldn't be surprise if o2 pre-orders show up tomorrow.

I think the delivery date is because of the bumper. A few people have reported delivery dates in July when ordering with accessories.

no micro sim on orange

i emailed orange the other day about the micro sims as i want to use my current contract in the new iphone, they have just phoned me back and said they will not be allowing people to transfer their current contract onto a micro sim🙁 she said maybe in the future they might be putting something in place to do this but for now they will not be transfering people onto the micro sim.

Take your current SIM and cut it yourself.

Looks like even the 16GB is now out of stock for reserve & collect

I just ordered a 16gb black for collection at Regents Street. The 32gb black is unavailable. Do not use chrome browser as this does not work for the reserve and collect site. Graphics were slow with IE but it got there in the end.

I think we're all going to be getting very busy with scissors on the 24th 🙂

I was hoping Vodafone would send me a micro SIM but at the moment they have no plans to do so.

Not good enough. What I am now supposed to do with a £600 phone, and no MicroSIM??

There's no way I'm letting them upgrade my account (changing contract dates) without them giving me a cheque to bring the cost of the phone down to a subsidised price!! They may very well have a big problem on their hands if that is definite.
