I cancelled my bumper for the same reason, the delivery date changed immediately to June 24th

Mine did not, it is still showing the same delivery date as if the bumper was still there!!! can it be because they r busy it takes time???! although in the previous confirmation email they sent me they said next to the iphone delivers on june 24!!! m waiting for apple store chat and for someone to answer my call!!! m really disappointed now!!!

Reading all this impatient frenzy about preorders, where, when, how much, tariffs etc., I'm so glad I'm sticking with my preferred choice of white, as it will afford me the time to decide how I'm going to buy and on which network.

Two bulls, one old, one young, are standing at the top of a field.

"Look!" says the young one, "...a field full of cows, c'mon let's run down and f*** one of them".

The old bull shakes his head and rolls his eyes at the folly of youth.

"No son, let's walk down and f*** ALL of them"

;)

When I was at the 3gs launch in the Trafford Centre last year. They opened the door opposite ASDA on the upper level only at first.

Essentially the door nearest the Apple store itself on the upper level?

What i want to know is that if ive been with O2 for probably last 10 years and have just finished my 18month iPhone term and gone onto Simplicity 30 day plan for the last 3 months.....If i will be entitled to a discount on the iPhone 4!?

Ideally i would like to turn my current Simplicity deal into a 12 month simplicity plan so that i keep my "unlimited data". If i knew this then i could commit to a 12 month simplicity deal and then purchase the discounted iPhone 4 through O2

Ok just come off phone with O2, basically sounded like they had enough of iPhone 4 calls as the guy kept saying call back when we have the phones and check on website lol

Anyways i have been with them for 10 years and they reccommended me to go on the simplicity plan until i saw a phone that i like before committing to another 12/18 month contract. I have never had a break where i haven't stopped paying a monthly fee direct debit to O2.
Anyways the guy says that because i am on "sim-only" and not in a existing 18 month contract then i am not entitled to a loyalty discount!!

He said though that not even O2 employees are entitled to discounts on iPhones!!

I want to keep my current simplicity deal and transfer over to the iPhone 4 as currently this works out best for me, but now they say (well this guy anyways) that i am no longer entitled to any discounts as i am sim-free something that their advisor told me to do..............How wrong is that, good mind to go elsewhere...10 years and they reset me to just any Joe Bloggs...Ok i don't expect red carpet treatment but would have thought i could have got some discount even if not off the iPhone.

O2 are quickly loosing all credability they have gained over the years!!!!!

Hi Guys, what a day!! managed to reserve a 32gb model this morning for store pick up. I chose the pay monthly option as I need to keep my existing number with o2, for work reasons.

What i needed some help on was that if anyone knew if it is possible to pay the early upgrade fee at the apple store as well as keeping my existing number with them??

Thanks for the help

I hope they make it clear though for people less familiar with the centre itself! I live 15 minutes away and know it quite well but the place is that big without proper signage people could walk around trying doors for hours.

Your best bet is to ring the Apple store in question.

This may be helpful to you and point to the answer.

When I got my 3G because O2 cocked my order up they spammed my credit file with checks which by the time I got to Apple after O2 failing my order I was only given a conditional accept and told this was £200.

The guy at Apple Trafford paid that for me after I explained what had gone on. So obviously Apple can pay into O2's systems.

Same as the rest of us  I too enjoy my iPhone simplicity 30 day rolling contract comprising 600 minutes, 1200 texts and uncapped data, all for a price of £20 inc. VAT per month.

That really shows how much of a rip-off the iPhone specific plans are...

I was planning to early upgrade with o2 - pay my contract off for £100, buy a new handset for £270ish if the prices last year are anything to go by, and spend £30+ a month on the new contract for 18 months and be in the same predicament next summer...

or buy sim free from Apple which I would rather do as next year I wouldn't be tied to a contract and could upgrade with more ease.

My only problem is I don't have £599 spare but I could easily pay it off in 2 months if I bought it with a credit card and pay the majority off with the £300+ I could get for my 3GS 32GB.

This would also mean I don't have to sell my 3GS before I buy it and be without a phone for who knows how long.

So, my first question is do Apple accept credit cards either on-line or in-store, and I would also like to know what your opinions are regarding my two options?

For the iPad launch the upper level car parks were shut. Most entrances appeared to be open though (07:45).

Trafford Centre only allowed the mobile Starbucks guy to operate in the Apple store. No use to those queuing outside.

I'll be down there from 07:30ish.

what time did you get there? I've not done an apple launch since the debacle that was the ipod touch and i can't remember what time i got there for that.

Yes. I had a breakfast in MacDonalds and strolled over the road for about 7:15. Joined about 12th in the queue. Free coffee and nibbles supplied by Apple from Starbucks.

Quick question regarding pre-ordering.

If I pre-order, does that mean its concrete? Or can I cancel it if say, o2 offer a better price (at the minute, doubting it).

You can cancel up to a point, before it ships I think. Even then you can return it within 14 days for a refund. No danger in pre-ordering.

Im on the same but managed to get it with a 40% monthly discount so makes it £12 a month :D

I'm currently on that with my 2G. I've only reserved a pay monthly iPhone at Trafford but will decide what to do depending on whether O2 get their act together or not.

If what you say is true then this will create a huge demand to get these phones as cheap as possible on contract and then sell them off on ebay, gumtree or where ever as sim free to make as much money as possible.

Somehow I cannot see Apple or the carriers letting this happen as this is the exact kind of situation which they have both fought long and hard to stop.

Also there would be no incentive to get one sim free if that truly was the case.

Can anyone verify LondonMystery's findings?

That model is fairly similar to what Google did with Nexus One.
You can purchase SIM free for $629 or get it with T-Mobile US 2 years contract for $180 but the Nexus One itself is factory unlocked either way!

PS: Anyone from UK would want to help me get those cool factory unlocked iPhone 4 across the pond :D:D

Holy ****. This thread has doubled since I last checked it at lunch.

I'm hoping that's just people talking about their Apple pre-orders and no other interesting news.

But if you buy one on contract and sell it off, you've still got the contract to pay and no-ones going to pay more for your second hand unlocked phone than they can get a brand new unlocked phone for from Apple are they?

Sounds good. Just the Corridors of Hell aka the M6 and the M61 to negotiate before 7am or so....

I agree with you that people will sell them on ebay etc, the thing is that they will still be tied in to an 18/24 month contract regardless of whether they keep the handset or not. :):)

No offence but you need to see it from their perspective. Firstly discounts on the iPhone are non-existent, and what the guy is telling you about employees even is true.

But your big mistake (if I've read your post correctly) is that although you've been with them 10 years, you've failed to keep renewing with consecutive contracts. Which the guy you spoke to meant to say when he said you're 'sim-free'.

I've been with Vodafone for a decade (I added an extra O2 contract when I needed my 3G) and I've always been careful to renew every 18 months either taking a handset (to give to family or sell) or sometimes getting cash back. I was happy with them, so why not. As a result, they've always been VERY accommodating, and will "almost certainly make it worth my while" with the iPhone 4 if I choose them this time round.
