Same as the rest of us  I too enjoy my iPhone simplicity 30 day rolling contract comprising 600 minutes, 1200 texts and uncapped data, all for a price of £20 inc. VAT per month.

I am on the £30 Simplicity 1200 minutes, 2400 texts, free web and wi-fi (unlimited) with visual voicemail plus mms and texts from abroad are included oh not forgetting free ITS and voicemail! :D

Im totally dumb.

Looking through Apples website, all I can see is a pre-order option for £600 (32GB), which I assume is sim free. Where can you reserve one for store collection on a contract??

it says

'Does iPhone work with any SIM card or carrier worldwide?
iPhone 3GS works with SIM cards and iPhone 4 works with micro-SIM cards from compatible carriers'

then lists the carriers as vodaphone, o2 and orange...

im on virgin mobile.

this is why im confused to if its unlocked or not?

thanks

"you can sign up for service with the carrier of your choice and change your carrier at any time"

Sorry for asking but I am a lazy "so & so" and can't be bothered to read back through this thread after a 13hr day! How does one go about reserving for store pick-up?

Help people of the internet, I ordered around 10am today during the hectic hours after refreshing my basket a couple of times before finally getting through but I haven't recieved my confirmation email yet, is this normal? Or should I cancel and order again?

I have a iphone 4 16gb reserved at the Glasgow store.

This is the first time I will be collecting it from the store, previous years I got it delivered on launch day.

Since its a reservation but not a time. How does it work? will they have seperate queues outside? I dont want to wait outside, I dont mind waiting in the store & just being around the exciting atmosphere!!! Sad i know! So I would like to be able to walk in the doors almost as soon as it opens. I understand there probably will be people queuing outside for hours, do i have to go wait behind them?

For those who doubt or disbelieve my findings, please call the Apple store on their free phone number and ask if the handset will remain unlocked once activated through itunes.

I myself have now called them 4 times and 2 of the london stores as well. all say they will remain unlocked for life. :):)

It is unlocked, it's just giving you the choice to buy from those networks instead.

If you cut your Virgin SIM it will work fine.

But if we were to get the O2 Simplicity Plan now would we still benefit from the unlimited internet? I thought O2 were cancelling this out?

Also, we won't get the micro-sim.

If the Simplicity Plan is still FULLY available to work on the iPhone 4 then I'm off to O2 tomorrow :D

Essentially browse to the retail stores from the front page of apple.com/uk, pick your store then Reserve iPhone. Best be quick though, the 32GB stock seems to be mostly gone. 16GB ones can still be had at some places though.

Wow, 2000 more posts since this morning.

I got to work and managed to Pre Order a 32GB Black iPhone 4. £599 is steep, but being Sim Free is amazing

You can't. As with the 3GS, Apple only sell the unlocked/PAYG version. Reservation for a contract phone would be done through the network themselves, if they offer any sort of pre-order.

If you reserve one for store collection you can have a new contract or upgrade done in the Apple store on O2, Vodafone or Orange. :):)
Think its the second page through this link. http://reserve.apple.com/WebObjects...Product?lang=en&country=GB&prelaunch=MC603B_A

A second page pops up asking whether you want payg, sim free or contract.

What are people doing about insurance for the new iPhone? Apple store only offer applecare as far as I know but i'd still like some kind of insurance. Any one got any advice as £500 is a big investment to be unprotected!

I have a feeling they (and maybe you) mean just the sim free iphone 4 will be unlocked for life... which is what it says on apple's site... if you know for sure that they meant for contract as well, could you let us know what you asked/they said (I'm outta the country so it's expensive to call :p )

Nope. But AppleCare's £10-or-so cheaper.

Real question - has anyone who's had AppleCare for their iPhone used it? Wondering whether to cancel it from my order.

Yes! It's worth every penny.

If you have any problems Apple are generally very accommodating and give you a new iPhone.

Best place to buy it is eBay. You can get it for about £25 rather than £60.
