O2's performance in this regard has been extremely lacklustre. I'm off to Vodafone on a very reasonable sim only deal.

They don't seem to know what they are doing, I get the feeling there is a shortage of MicroSIMs and now they are panicking that they are not going to have enough, with 9 days to go they should surely be at the stage now where they can give information like they will be going out this week will take 3 days to arrive when it does do x. But its check the website thats all the information we have, over and over.

If you email them it seems they have an automatic filter so if you have iPhone mentioned in the message it sends an auto reply telling you to check the website. Even the twitter account seems to have given up today.

Well I need to be in work by 10 so I do hope it goes more smoothly than the 3G launch!

I actually visited Apple HQ in Cupertino last year (and you called YOURSELF sad). The staff store there sells Apple clothing and other bits and pieces, so if you see a guy in a black long-sleeve tshirt with an apple amblem, wearing a matching cap - that'll be me. :)

I've love an Apple shirt! I'd becwearing one if I had one ;)
i'll be collecting mine from the arndale. i rang earlier to confirm my order and the girl on the phone said they hold one back until the close of play so you shouldn't have to queue.

i'm still getting there at 8 though :D
Did you order and pay for yours and did they confirm the order? I chose pay monthly so didn't pay anything, so didn't think to call to confirm
Order.

What deal are you going for?

I'm waiting for Orange and Vodafone to publish their prices and I will choose two PAYG options on one of them.

At the moment I have 3 iPhone Simplicity contracts with O2 giving 600 minutes, 1200 texts, and unlimited Internet and wi-fi for £60 per month (£20 each). O2 have been very unhelpful about supplying replacement microsims and tell me that the data will be capped from October onwards.

Vodafone will do me 600 minutes, 3000 texts, 1GB of data, and 1GB of BT Openzone on each of three 12 month sim only plans for a total of £50 per month.

I'm fed up with O2 coverage so this is a great deal for me and my family even if we will no longer have visual voicemail.:)

eBay?

I have a black 32GB iPhone4 on preorder, to be delivered on the 24th. I've just looked on eBay at the amount of buy-it-now listings for this phone at £800+ (one at £999).
I actually want my phone (am currently using an old Nokia as have sold my 3G iPhone) so I'm very unlikely to try flogging the new one on eBay, but... those prices?! Is anyone seriously considering selling their unlocked iPhone4?

Maybe you could try get off as an Apple employee and jump the queue ;)

Hi,
Any one knows a good Mail forwarding company so that I can pre order the iPhone and ship overseas?

Thanks for the informative post.

Are you opting for the Vodafone family deal? It seems like a good idea to me if there are enough of you to warrant it. My son is not yet three and doesn't have an iPhone yet so it's a bit early to think about planning an iFamily right now!

I've had a good ride over the past twelve months with O2. Working mostly from my home office, "Favourite Place" has been a really great way to save money on my calls, plus the unlimited internet was good too (I used about 500mb/month - being careful with my usage) since I am mostly within range of a WiFi hotspot.

However O2 coverage sucks. It's terrible out in the country (with the exception of one remote campsite in Devon where I got a full 3G signal!) if I so much as go anywhere green or near trees I lose the signal totally. I suspect Vodafone is similar and looking at the Ofcom maps they're not much better (although they recently won an industry award for most improved network and it's been several years since I last used them).

Orange's coverage looks amazing and with their new merger with T-Mobile and mast sharing looking like it's going live from 1st July - this would be my network of choice for performance across the country. Three would be behind them, but better than Vodafone.

And everybody is better than O2.

Hence my reluctance to punt for an iPhone pre-order from Apple right now. I want to see what the "better-than-O2" networks are offering. I admit that I wouldn't be shopping around if O2 didn't go ahead and cut out the free year of wireless internet access that we've all been enjoying over the past 12 months.

I dont think many or anyone in the UK would buy it at that price, what's the point? I dont think there will be a total sell out from everywhere or if there is it won't last long, that only leaves scammers for you to sell it to.

Your best bet is to ring the Apple store in question.

This may be helpful to you and point to the answer.

When I got my 3G because O2 cocked my order up they spammed my credit file with checks which by the time I got to Apple after O2 failing my order I was only given a conditional accept and told this was £200.

The guy at Apple Trafford paid that for me after I explained what had gone on. So obviously Apple can pay into O2's systems.

Cheers Stiss much appreciated!!

If you reserve one for store collection you can have a new contract or upgrade done in the Apple store on O2, Vodafone or Orange. :):)
Think its the second page through this link. http://reserve.apple.com/WebObjects...Product?lang=en&country=GB&prelaunch=MC603B_A

A second page pops up asking whether you want payg, sim free or contract.

Did you reserve one for a pay monthly contract? Does your account on the Apple store have any details about the order? I received a confirmation email, but there is nothing in my order history etc.

I managed to get home at lunch and ordered the 32GB, I've had no confirmation email but i checked my order status on Apple and it says "Estimated Shipping: Delivers on June 24th" so I guess all's OK.

So now I have to decide if i should stay with o2 and switch to a simplicity £15pm 12 month contract or look elsewhere, Just notice, I'm with Virgin Media (BB and TV) and they do unlimited web access, 400 mins and Unlimited texts for £15pm although I have no idea if there network is any good.

Oh yeah i bought the 32GB version for 2 reasons, I honestly think i'll use more than 16GB and I know what i'm like if i went for the 16GB i would always regret not buying the 32GB!!!

Do you really want to run the risk of being scammed ny a nigerian though. Also ive heard someone who sold a iPhone and the guy put in a claim through Paypal...6 months later the guy got a refund for the purchase of the phone.
Though the seller eventually got his money back from Paypal once explaining and proving it was his phone he sold etc but the 6 months of running around!!

Making a quick buck can always go tits up or so to speak. I dont wana risk loosing £600 to try make around £250-£300 after fees...up to you though, am also guessing some of these sellers havent got alot of feedback.

Also whats stops them trying to send a weighted empty box that you sign for, or one of those fake chinese ones that you don't realise till you charge it up and turn on.

Just my thoughts but then i think everyone is out to get me......who said that???

Are you opting for the Vodafone family deal?

It is not expressed as a family deal, just tailor made by the very helpful Customer Service Rep.

Totally agree with your findings in relation to O2 in the countryside.

I've been using a Vodafone sim in my 3G iPad recently and have been impressed with the coverage and speed in the places I frequent.

I think it all depends on the area that you're in really, but O2 are pretty consistently poor 'out of town'.

I dont think it will show up in Order History as your actually purchasing it from the store and not the web. Im in the same boat as you.

Do you guys think we will rcv the confirmation emails during the night??

When i first pre ordered in the morning i rcvd the confirmation email after 2 hours but later on today i cancelled the bumper (it was delaying the delivery) and i am still waiting for the confirmation email again AND cancelling the bumper did not change the delivery date and i am really annoyed with that! I cancelled the bumper to get the iPhone on the 24th. I hope its just the system is busy and the delivery information will be updated within 24hrs!

I just got off phone to O2 and have just changed my Simplicity 30 day to a 12 month Simplicity plan, this guarantees i will get 600mins, Unlimited txts (though MMS 20p now instead of four4one with old tarriff, Unlimited data for £20 a month. This now guarantees me to Unlimited data (with a fair usage O2's is apparently around 20G at the moment lol) until this time next year.

Going to get my Iphone 4 that i have preordered sim free for £599 ouch  and when i get this can phone hem up to get micro-sim sent out and also transfer over insurance to the new phone as it's the sim that connects the insurance (£7.50 a month)

Yep, reserved 2 for upgrades on contract. Nothing on order history but have received a confirmation email within about 10 minutes. :):)

Will O2 cancel the existing contracts on the old iphone? i've been on this one since the original iphone, and would rather pay £600 for a new phone than change contract

Hey guys, first post
If i reserve for pick up in my local store and choose the contract option how does this work?
i will have a phone waiting for me but how will the contract work?
im going with o2 and i know which deal i want

They reserve an iPhone for you, you get there and set it up in store, and you pay the handset cost and sign up to the contract in store.
