The U.K. iPhone 4 Thread

I have a question you guys might be able to answer...

I'm on an 18-month O2 deal which ends on 7 July (I can upgrade any time), but I get a 30% Friends & Family discount.

If I take a new 18-month contract with O2 (and pay for a subsidised iPhone 4 handset), will I be able to keep my 30% discount?

Just turn up with proof of address and proof of signature. its that simple. :):)
 
Just want to say congrats to all those that managed to order today...

Got mine through at 9.21... After a LOT of trying...

Recognising a lot of name from last months iPad thread (OP!), looking forward to getting crazy about delivery! Bring on Wed/Thurs/Fri ;)
 
how can i put this politely...

O2 can take their micro-sims and put them where the sun don't shine (and i don't mean in a cupboard)

I have tried asking Apple, but understand that they only provide the phone and won't know much about the network and sims. So i go to o2. Cant EMAIL THEM, cant PHONE THEM, and get hold of a human being who can answer my questions.

I'm not going to bother getting a micro-sim cause i don't know where to get one, and when i do how i go about getting the tariff i want, so i'm just going to tear into my simplicity sim when it arrives in the post and make it the size of a micro-sim :)

This is what worries me.... we buy our new phones on the 24th (Thursday), and we are supposed to phone up o2 and THEN they send out a micro sim?

What are existing contract customers meant to do untill then???

Play with our scissors I guess!
 
Have you guys received a confirmation email for your order from the Apple website?
I have purchased (not reserved) the 32GB this morning but no email yet, I can however see the purchase under the "my order" section on the Apple website.

Got mine mate...took about 20 mins though...

Wouldn't worry too much if you can see it on the Apple store...maybe give them a call in the morning when the crazy has died down...

No, apparently the F&F discount is only applicable to the tariff you are currently on. Make any changes to it then you lose the discount.
 
Managed to purchase a 32gb iphone this afternoon. Spoke to o2 retentions they said I would be able to keep my simplicity tariff with unlimited data and that I can request a micro sim (which i did) and transfer my current plan over. So after a long wait and eventful ordering process, im getting excited about it arriving!

Can someone explain how to 'reserve' a phone on the Apple website, as opposed to pre-ordering one?
 
I really, really don't want to give £1,000 (two phones) to Apple or any network if I have to then restrict my data usage (O2) or have poor network performance (O2 again).

Is anyone here looking to get on Vodafone or Orange's network, or Three or T-Mobile?
 
I know I would lose VV but what is stopping me order the BB Simplicity for £10 a month - unlimited texts, internet and 300 mins?

Thoughts?

is that a 12 month simplicity tariff or the 30 day rolling tariff?

Ordered mine about 12.50 and only just had a confirmation email from Apple. Didn't get one until the following for the iPad - so I guess they're doing ok.

I rang o2 today after I had ordered my iphone 4 from Apple Store and was told my microsim would be in the post very soon and I would receive in next 3 days. I was told that when I was about to use new microsim in new phone to call them and they would then activate it.

I managed to get a 16GB order though just after midday, and my confirmation mail has only just arrived at 21:03.

Order was showing up ok in my account, but I am still pleased to see the mail regardless. :)

The micro sim looks like it's going to be a bigger cock-up than the preorder fiasco.

I can see many new iPhone 4 owners on the 24th not being able to make a call on their pride and joy because of no micro sim

im the same, got a confirmation email but had no order number or details and when i log onto my apple account there is nothing in my order status/history.
 
Setting up 2 x contracts on the 24th

I've pre-ordered 1 x 16gb and 1 x 32gb for collection at the Cardiff store on the 24th, one for myself and one for my wife. We are both currently with O2, I'm on a contract that ran out 6 months ago and my wife is on PAYG. We've decided to both go onto Orange, providing that the tariffs are OK!! when they are announced!! but my question is will I be able to setup a new contract with orange in the store for my wife who will not be there? I can take all the requested documents, utility bill, driving licence etc. but I'm not sure if they will accept this without her being there in person.

Can anyone comment?
