do people think that queues will be likely for people picking up their reservations on thursday?
would it be worth booking a personal shopping allocation to get in and out easier?

edit- specifically for new contract phones

This whole thing so is overcomplicated! I can't think how the Apple store is gonna be able to sell contracts easily. Are the Apple stores gonna have enough microsims for everyone?!

Kinda makes me think though, that they might all be unlocked, or get locked when they get activated?
they probably order a batch of sims from each network to cover themselves

reserved people get priority over people queing up I believe if you book a personal shopper they may not book you in till the day after launch day

Some of the completed listings suggest they've been selling some 32GB's at over £1,000, some at £1,600!

If people are willing to spend that much you'd think they'd just make the effort to get a pre-order, even if it means taking a day off work.
Some of the listings are well dodgy though:

According to his description he "has stock" (er no he doesn't), he has the white one (doubt it) and he asked for which network the buyer required.

Have to say, I wouldn't have bought that!

He seems to have loads more: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/BRAND-NEW-SEA...s=63&clkid=7778280655484507481#ht_4072wt_1071
any takers?

Hey guys apologies if this has already been answered but the thread is enormous!

Can anyone tell me if o2 are definitely going to be doing pre orders? For either pickup in store or for home delivery? I don't want to go all the way to my nearest apple shop!

Also, I see tesco have announced that they are carrying iPhone 4, will they have it come release day?

Cheers

so there'll be a completely separate queue for reservations and people taking a chance on the day?
is there likely to be a period of "lull" during the day?

For all the people saying something along the lines of "I'm really worried I won't get a microsim on launch day and I'll be left with a brick in my pocket", just cut your current sim down to size, or if you're not willing to, stop moaning.

I'll say it again - JUST CUT A NORMAL SIM DOWN TO SIZE!

I have a reservation for launch day, if I change my mind on whether I want a PAYG version or Sim-free, would they let me do that, or am I stuck with my reservation choice? Anyone know?

For those of you who picked up at store for the 3GS, are the queues horrendous?

I was hoping to rock up at opening time and be on my way in a matter of minutes with an unlocked version (i'll activate myself later) - what's the chances of that happening?

Any tips to avoid being stuck queueing? :)

You can choose on the day which option you want, it stated this on the page with these options so your choice for connection isn't final.

I suspect you'll be fine. Even if you reserved PAYG, the box they open has to be unlocked because you haven't told them yet whether you want an O2 or Orange PAYG (assuming your reservation went the same way as mine did) so they're all exactly the same handset, the only difference is whether the Apple employee plugs a PAYG card into your phone and activates it for you before you leave the store.

you would need to contact the store before the day to let them know

Thats not what I got.

When I reserved, it asked me to select a plan and clearly said "dont worry, you can change it when you come in"

AFAIK, you're reserving the phone / model / size, then they just plug it in and activate / upgrade / PAYG for you.

If you're sim only maybe they just clap you out the door...

Thanks for the replies everyone, I thought I'd ask in the store chat as well, and that's pretty much what they confirmed (it doesn't matter i.e. all unlocked), so I'm relieved!

Depends on the branch...

Rocking up at 8am, you'll have a queue whichever branch.

Whether they'll have stock is another story.

Last year I went to my local one at 7:30 and only 4 people ahead of me.

but they opened late and by that time the queue was about 20 long

Victoria Square, Belfast.

Should I be concerned, that they may not have stock?

I'm working from home that day and whilst i could nip down around lunch time, I'd rather get in and out before the shoppers arrive :(
